A group of Boy Scouts and parents needs to become certified scuba divers for a trip. Scott Theis at SeaYa Diving was our instructor and coordinated all of our certification activities. He was extremely flexible and patient with our group. As you can imagine, it was hard to get everyone together at once, and he was very flexible in arranging to get people caught up who had schedule conflicts. He was an excellent instructor and made the training very fun. He was very good at making sure every single participant mastered each skill so that they would personally be able to use those skills while diving. His equipment was all in excellent condition and he was very well prepared with backup equipment if something did not fit right or if something sprung a leak or if a person needed to change how much weight they used on a particular day.
Before starting the certification classes, he offered our group a "Try Scuba" session at a very low cost, which allowed people to use diving equipment in a swimming pool after a brief training session. This gave people a chance to make sure they would not have psychological problems with being underwater. It also gave others a chance to test out scuba if they wanted to experience it even if they had no intention of getting certified later.
SeaYa Diving's prices are very competitive based on some checking done by one of our parents.
I seldom rave about a service provider, and I am pretty stingy with my grading, but Scott did a truly excellent job, so I only have the highest praises for him. I'd highly recommend him to anyone needing scuba training or equipment to be rented or purchased.
