City Wide Insulation

We were happy with the work at first.  Then over the years we began to have trouble with condensation in the attic and damage to interior and exterior walls.  I call Citywide and the guy came back out - this was in 2008 - 2009.  He took one look at the attic - walked through my house and proclaimed that I was rotting my house from the inside out by using humidifers (in the winter).  He then told me a plan of how I should put a fan up there and dry out the attic.  Once it was dry they could come back and seal it.  I asked why it wasn't sealed or offered as a service back in 2002 and he replied that 'we just didn't do that then'.  He said he would call me back in a week or so after the attic was dry to set up a time to come back and set up a time.  I never heard from him again. 

We received a written price bid.  We hired the work to be done.  The workmen arrived promptly.  The air leaks were sealed but the furnace flue was not properly sealed.  Also, one roof vent was mistakenly covered with the blown insulation.  Workmen removed the insulation in the vent after we noted it and they thought they were finished.  They did not clean up the basement area where the old insulation had fallen down the flue.  As we later cleaned up the basement mess, we noticed that the flue had expanding foam installed. This is not correct.  No flammable material should contact the flue.

When we contacted the company in regard to this, they told us that their normal procedure was to install a metal flashing around the flue.  They said they would check with the installers.  They have not contacted us since. 

We have now had to hire another company to do correctly what should have been done.  The pictures we have taken of the job before the work was done by the second company show that a metal flashing was not installed.  It had to be done by the second company.  

Showed up when they said, worked efficiently and cleaned up. Showed me the finished attic. Level and to the depth specified.

This could be a messy job. It wasn't. I inspected the finished job and it looked great. And they cleaned up perfectly. and worked efficiently. And it mattered on our heat bill and comfort level.

Great, the guys were thorough and friendly and cleaned up after themselves.

Wonderful job; needed it done quickly because the sheet-rockers were ready to go and my son, who was going to do the work, fell and broke his leg. Called late on Monday, they did the job the next day.

Did an excellent job on the attic ceiling which was not previously insulated. The job was done satisfactorily.

THE PERSON WHO DID THE INSTALLATION CAUSED LOTS OF PROBLEMS. SOME OF THE INSULATION ENDED UP TOO THICK AND HAD TO BE FIXED BY SOMEONE ELSE. HE ALSO DIDN'T PROPERLY PROTECT NON-SPRAY AREAS AND MANY ITEMS WERE COVERED WITH A FINE MIST. THIS INCLUDED WALLS, FLOORS, TRIM & OTHER ITEMS (TV, TELEPHONE, CLOTHES, ETC). THANKFULLY MOST OF IT WIPED OFF, BUT A SMALL HARDWOOD STAIR LANDING WAS RUINED AND HAD TO BE REFINISHED. TO THEIR CREDIT, CITYWIDE WORKED WITH US TO RESOLVE ALL OF THE PROBLEMS.

OUR ATTIC ACCESS WAS INCONVENIENTLY LOCATED AND THEY DID A MASTERFUL JOB OF PREPPING THE AREA AND COMPLETING THE WORK WITH MINIMAL DISTURBANCE, ALL FOR A FAIR PRICE.

THEY CAME, GAVE ESTIMATE (LOWER THAN OTHER COMPANIES), AND THEY DID THE WORK. GOOD CLEAN UP AFTERWARDS.

TOOK 2 FULL DAYS TO COMPLETE. PRICE WAS FAIR, EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN INITIALLY PROMISED, THEY DID GREAT WORK!
