Scandia Heating and Air Conditioning is prompt with estimates, contract specifications and completion of the work. Scandia completed two projects for us. The first was installation of a mini-split air conditioning system for an area that could not otherwise be cooled. The second was replacement of the entire AC/Heating system and installation of a new water heater. Scandia’s was one of four estimates on the mini-split system and although not the lowest cost, we were impressed with their promptness, perceived competency and thoroughly specified contract. JR and the crew set an early date, showed up on time and in short order had the system installed including some rewiring. The team made sure we understood the system and it worked well. Over winter it did lose some coolant and they immediately returned and trouble shot the system and it has worked well ever since. Great service followup at no expense to us. Because of such great installation and service on the mini-split, we of course made Scandia one of four estimates on the larger HVAC and water heater project. Again, JR was prompt and thorough with the estimate and in discussion of what would be the best approach. We went with Scandia on the project and the crew again showed up on time and very quickly removed the old system and fit in the new one. They took the time to explain the new control system to us before leaving. During an especially cold time a few months later, we made a service call to better understand system moisture and temperature control. Scandia came immediately and explained the solution. One year out, we decided to expand the system and Scandia was back with another unit and completed the upgrade in two hours one morning. Both new systems had energy rebates and Scandia filed the paperwork needed for us to claim them. Excellent service again. Scandia is an excellent firm. They are prompt with estimates and work. Their service is topnotch and timely. The installation and service reps are great to work with. We highly recommend Scandia for design, installation and service of heating and AC systems.

Staff arrived on time and completed work as requested. Very professional installation team! Care was taken to avoid any damage or dirt in my house on install and removal. We have high efficient Furnace and AC now. I would recommend them to others. Better pricing compared to other estimates I had obtained for same equipment. Quality and affordable.

The first time I turned the air conditioner on after they installed it did nothing. It turned out that mice had eaten through the wiring in the outside air conditioner. They came out and fixed it and gave me some advice to prevent that from happening. They actually had to replace one of the circuit boards downstairs because of what the mice had done. The price was fair, I did some checking around and they were spot on. They were prompt and I had no problems.

Service person arrived in three hours, several hours quicker than promised, which was great. He assessed and tested and tweaked the radiators and furnace and discovered that yes, it was slightly frozen, but also full of too much air, the water was low, and someone had turned off an important valve that bleeds out the extra air. He fixed it all up in about a half an hour and the radiators are now warming up.

Claimed our 11 year old furnace was rotten out. Put CO2 meter in the chimney and showed that the CO2 went off the scale. This is normal operation of a furnace. All the CO2 is to go up the chimney. This is a scam. We replaced our furnace due to it not being reliable, every year that we have owned the house we have had furnace problems. The original installer went out of business. The installation of the new furnace looked good, I watched. The furnace they installed had a bad blower fan that they make two trips back to their shop to get a good fan.

I received 4 different estimates for replacing my heating and air and Scandia was the least expensive for a full Trane system. They were punctual, courteous, professional and did a fantastic job. I would not hesitate to recommend Scandia Heating to anyone.
Great job JR!!

We're seniors on a fixed income and when my husband's Parkinsons got so bad he couldn't work, we decided to build our retirement home. Little did we know the real estate bubble was ABOUT to burst, but by the time our new home was underway and our old home was on the market, the burst was in full bloom. Our new home was completed in January 2009, and it wasn't until the first heat spike in spring that we realized our air conditioner wasn't working. My husband's meds don't work when he is overheated, so we put in an emergency call to our builder. He hunted down the guy who had installed the furnace and air conditioner, who added coolant and said he'd forgotten to do that when he installed them because it was winter. He disappeared forever right after that. There is no trace of his business. In the spring of 2010, when the heat did returned, our air conditioner again failed to cool. Since we couldn't find the guy who installed it, we checked Angie's List and found Scandia Heating and AC who were close by and had a report with an A rating (even though the person said their prices were high.) We live about 40 miles from a large city, so ratings are thin out here. We called and were thrilled they could come right out. The people were polite and cheerful, put covers over their shoes while in the house, and they said they often needed to fix the work done by new construction HVAC people. They needed to completely fill the AC with coolant at $75/lb of coolant ($750.00). We gulped hard at the price, but paid it. Spring of 2011 brought a repeat of failed AC, but this time they only needed to half-fill the unit. Said this was costing too much to continue refilling it all the time, and have given us the recommendation to replace the AC completely (the bid is for $4314 to replace.) When we called other HVAC people in the area for comparison bids, we discovered the current rate for the coolant used in our AC should be $15 - $18/lb instead of the $75/lb we've been charged by Scandia. This isn't just a higher price that the others, it is 4-5 TIMES what others would charge us.

The work done by them was okay and our experience with them has been satisfactory. They billed us and I paid them and it has been working. They were good overall. My husband was here and he was satisfied. Their responsiveness was fine. I called them and they have to call me back. They set up a time and they came when they said they were going to come out. The woman who set up the appointment and the person who I paid the bill to were both fine. I would use their services in the future too.

These guys were GREAT! First off, they came within 24 hours of our first call. Our house is just over a year old, but the HVAC installers had done a horrible job. We didn't have any humidification this past winter, and when spring arrived, the air conditioner didn't cool. They found connections that had been left "finger tight" and all coolant had escaped. Came back two more times to check that there were no more leaks. They also replaced the humidifier controller and tested that things would work correctly. They put on shoe covers when they stepped inside, were incredibly professional and efficient in everything they did. We found out that they overcharged us for this service from other service providers.

They were fine. However, they were expensive. That was because the part was expensive. They came sooner than we had asked them to come out; the came out on the same day. They ordered the part that they needed from the company that made the furnace and they got it working without the part for a while. However, it wasn’t functioning properly. So, they came out a couple of days later, when the part had arrived. The work cost $525, wherein the cost of the part was $470. The cost of the installation was only $71. They were punctual, professional and responsive.

Worker showed up at 8:30 on the designated day. He was very efficient at removing old appliances and installing new ones. He did the job by himself using power dollies and other equipment. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Did a good job at explaining how the new system worked.
