"She paid $180.00 for replacement of her brickmould. To remove the brickmould would have damaged the stucco around it. We wrapped the windows in aluminum which makes it maintenance free, a cost of $435.00, at no charge. We also authorized $100 off for having to reschedule due to rain. Called HO on 9/24 and explained we were behind because of the record rainfall we have experienced this summer. We got her on the schedule for 10/10. On 10/10 we had to reschedule because of rain that day. Home owner tried to cancel her job and wanted money back. We do cover in our checklist on line 3 “Sometimes your install date and time may be rescheduled due to extenuating circumstances. We do not compensate you for any lost time at work or for inconvenience.” This is on our customer checklist which the customer initialed next to this line and signed at the bottom of the checklist. Tried to reschedule homeowner for 10/14, 10/15 or 10/16. Email and called the homeowner, she did not respond. She then wanted a discount for her job prior to completion. She asked that the General Manager call her on 10/23 between 6-6:30 am. He called at 6:21 and she did not answer, a voicemail was left. We tried to schedule her for 10/29 but she refused and continued to want to cancel which was explained to her several times that this is not an option. General Manager called her twice on 10/29, once at 2:22pm and another time at 3 pm. Left voice mails both times no answer. General Manager talked to her on 10/30 at 9:02 am got her on the schedule for 11/5. Called the city on 11/8 and inspection has passed. So, homeowner paid for two brickmould replacements which could not be done without damaging her stucco. We tried to help by giving her free of charge wrapping of the brickmould instead. We can refund the $180.00 and charge the additional $435.00 for the wraps. This would mean the homeowner actually owes Window World $255.00 for the wraps minus the original $180.00 for brickmould. We would be more than happy to take additional money."
First I would like to start by saying the salesman was great and the windows and gutters were installed relatively quickly and well.
Now to the complaint part.
The siding installation experience was terrible.
The dumpster was in front of my house for 3 months! Blocking my entire driveway and preventing me from taking my boat to winter storage (As the dumpster was delivered without notification)
I had siding off my house with just TevDek for 30+ days (including many rainy days).
Window World had to go through 2 different contractors and finally got a 3rd to finish the job.
I had to call Window World several times (2x + a week) to see why the siding wasn't getting done, and what was going on. Finally, they sent a third team that got the siding up in 2 work days......2 work days....I had siding off of my house for over 30 before that.
The siding was sitting in our driveway for 3 months in boxes that got wet with the rain and subsequently collapsed and fell onto my car.
For the inspection, my husband had to take partial days off work, and Window World missed more than one appointment.
I was very disappointed with the siding installation and hope that the wood under the TevDek didn't get wet in the 30 days it was exposed to the elements.
I get that the installers are contracted out by Window World....but seriously after 30 + days of no siding....they should have been more on top of the issue.
I would NOT use Window World again.
The only problem I'm now having is while installing the bath system they had to remove my grab bar which was just outside of the old bath system. They did attempt to re-install the grab bar, but now the grab bar has completely come off the wall because it was not anchored into a stud. I now have holes in my wall, which I will have to patch. I called the office and left a message for Terry Derosier regarding the problem I was having and the person that took the message said he was in a meeting, but would see that he got my message; This was on 8/27/2014 and as of today 8/28/2014 no one has returned my call. This grab bar is very important for me to have because I have a tendency to loose my balance.
I' m very disappointed that no one has returned my call.
Their lead time from order to installation was about 5 weeks, much better than the 7-8 week estimate that the sales person quoted originally.
The installer was scheduled to arrive between 8-10 am and finally arrived at 10:30 am but did call to say that he was running late. He finished the work just as the inspector was scheduled to arrive at 2 pm. The installer was friendly and cleaned up the work space well upon completion.
We were missing a tempered glass window, as required by code, due to its location next to a door. The sales person and technician who completed final measurements should have noted that requirement.
Where Window World really lost points with me was in handling this missed requirement. There was not any follow-up communication after the intstaller left, saying that he would have a replacement window ordered and it might take 2-3 weeks. After not hearing anything for 2.5 weeks, I called Window World for an ETA, they did not have anyone on site who could provide that info so I had to leave a message. 2 days later, I received an email stating that the replacement window was now ORDERED and would arrive in about 2 weeks (a month and a half after the original installation work).
2.5 weeks later a technician was able to come over and put in the replacement window. He was also supposed to caulk around the interior side of 2 of the windows (since the previous installer forgot to bring his clear caulk) and supply some small parts that had been missing. He seemed a little confused on what he was supposed to do, he only caulked the bottom edge of the window (I wasn't there to check his work before he left) and didn't have the right missing parts with him.
Generally, very poor communication from the installer back to Window World on these details. Also, a bit of a hassle for me, as I will have to schedule time with the building inspector to come over a 2nd time, as he wasn't available when the replacement window was put in.
All in all, a good price...if you're willing to deal with the other stuff.
The front window had some issues we did not notice until a couple of months in. They came out to fix it and we all thought it was taken care of, but a couple of weeks later we noticed the same issue. They sent out another crew and determined that the sash needed to be replaced. They ordered it and within a couple of weeks it was installed on our schedule and has since been no issues.
We would recommend their service for price, quality and service.
I was referred by a friend to a gentleman named Pat Hoy, who came out and did all the initial workup, measurements, contract, etc. I watched him take 2-3 pages of meticulous notes, make drawings, and so on. He wrote up the contract and said he would staple his notes to it, so WIndow World understood exactly what he had laid out for my project. Note that this started in July 2010, but by the time things were delayed, they'd fixed their various errors, replaced the parts they got wrong, my project didn't get finished till late Oct. 2010. I still have numerous e-mails saved documenting the timeline and details of all this.
When they arrived to do the installation, the installers first of all had no idea they were supposed to replace the one window with a door. They launched a search, and apparently found my door frame in a warehouse, where their people had no idea who had ordered it or what it was for. They also didn't have any of the details about how they were supposed to finish off some of the tops of the other windows, and deal with quirks of my house that Pat had noted. They first tried to blame me, saying it wasn't fully described in the 1-page order sheet. When I told them how Pat had taken and attached 2-3 more pages of notes, their representative then claimed that wasn't part of the and quot;order, and quot; and they weren't responsible for those details. Next they tried to tell me that Pat was just an independent contractor, I should've known I couldn't rely on him, and they basically trashed their frontline salesman to me behind his back. Throughout the process I felt there was an utter disregard for the customer, me, who was spending thousands of dollars on this.
The installation took far longer than they'd said it would. As they were finishing, I saw they had put the wrong window in the bathroom. The window is in a shower and the lower-half was supposed to be opaque, but they were installing a regular clear window. Again they first insisted it wasn't specified in the order and tried to blame me, then they trashed Pat some more for supposedly taking poor notes.
At the end of the process, which had now taken 3 1/2 months to finish--by the time they'd come back with the door frame, and then come back yet again later with the opaque bathroom window I'd ordered--I was furious with them. At one point the crew chief on site implied to me that this wasn't an entirely unusual experience in terms of their internal communciation issues.
When it was done, to add insult to injury, my window sills and floors around the work area were still covered in fine dust. As I said, I have a 100-year-old house, which raises concerns about lead paint, among other things, so they were supposed to be following the protocols for lead paint clean up. They did put up some plastic at times, but my now-wife who was home much of the time said people were going in and out without the appropriate safety clothes on, and didn't always put shoe covers on, as I believe is required, and tracked dust around the house. Anyway, at the end there was still quite a bit of dust, I kept photos of it, which I had to get tested for lead to make sure I wasn't now breathing a hazard in my own home due to their incomplete cleanup. When I complained, they sent a supervisor to look, who acknowledged that it didn't look like they'd followed the required safety procedures.
In sum, I understand it's been a few years, and I leave it to others to make their own decision how much weight to give this review. But personally, in my subjective opinion, based on my experience with them, I still feel this is the worst contractor I have ever dealt with. I started off liking Pat, and thinking I was getting a good product at a good price, in particular compared to Home Depot, which I had initially intended to use for this. By the time I was done this project had become a huge source of anxiety and unhappiness.
This was extremely stressful and the absolute worst experience I have ever had dealing with any company.
ordering. The service rep for this was very friendly as well. He told us
it would take 2-3 weeks to have the windows and doors installed.
We told the service rep and he could clearly see that the windows and
doors we were ordering were needed ASAP. We were not simply replacing
bad windows we were replacing Missing windows and Exterior doors that
did not lock properly.
We had to call them inorder to find out
any information about our service dates and only after we called them
they told us that the windows had been in for a few days but they and quot;likeand quot;
to schedule all service for the same day. Only after we told that we had
no windows in our house did they come and install them. Which was also 4
weeks after we ordered them not 2-3. On one of the windows the installation man also ruined part of our siding.
We still do not have our
doors in our house. Apparently they made they wrong size door and need
to remeasure one of our door frames. It has been a month and a half and
we still have not had either of the doors replaced. Once again they
never once called us to tell us that the doors would be late.
