Except for specialty services, I don't go anywhere else for car service.  My father had "a guy" for all his automotive needs who was honest, fair and worked with you as much as possible to get the job done.  He told me over and over how, when you find people (especially mechanics) like that, you REALLY need to hold on to them.  We've been visiting Tuan Automotive and it's owner, Raks, for many years and I wouldn't even conceive of going somewhere else.  His prices are reasonable and he'll educate you, in detail, on what needs to be done and why.  My only complaint (if you could call it that) is that sometimes you have to wait a week or more to get in.  What this really means is that other people believe so much in the quality of work and the price, that they wont' go anywhere else either.

It went very well. They were backed up so I couldn't get my car in for a couple of days, but that was fine. It was driveable, just noisy. The repairs were done quickly once I got it in and I thought the price was very reasonable.

Tuan’s Auto Repair in St. Paul recently replaced my clutch and head gasket, and I was really impressed with their service. I called and spoke with Raks (I believe he’s the owner) for quite a while since he wanted to understand what the problem was and what might be the cause. I set up an appointment to have him look at my car and give an estimate. He confirmed it was the clutch and head gasket, and quoted $2700 or less if he could find a way to save on time by doing both at once. Sure enough, the final bill was less, coming in at $2560. The price and service were impressive, especially since a very reputable, nearby auto shop had quoted me $3700 for both repairs.

I made an oil change appointment for 9am on Saturday the 7th of September via email exchange, 10 days prior..
I arrived at 9 on the 7th, they took the car in, and had me on the road in 30 minutes.
The people at Tuan Auto were nice and the dogs in the waiting room/office were fun to hang out with.

A friend told me about Tuan, so I decided to check them out when I needed a major repair. They explained in detail what needed to be done and why, and then they even took me back to show me on the vehicle. They quoted me a price that was far less than I had been quoted from another auto service provider, and then they did extra work besides but did not charge any extra for it.
When I needed my passenger window fixed, I did not hesitate to go back to them. They tried to get it to work but ended up having to replace the motor. They seem to always try to do the work as economically as possible for their customers.
They work hard at getting people in within a day or two of the call, and then they do the work quickly and efficiently. This is the first time in many years that I have had an auto mechanic that I really trusted. One whole wall of their shop is covered with thank-you notes from customers--and I can see why!
While I was waiting for my vehicle, I heard Raks asking specific questions about each vehicle so that he could tell them what would be required to make the repairs. He also recommended other service providers if they could not do the work themselves. I would trust his recommendations as well as their work.

We bought a very used car for my son and were referred to Tuan Auto as an honest, knowledgeable local garage. We've gone back a couple of times and have appreciated the straight forward information, reasonable prices and the skill to troubleshoot and fix tricky old-car problems. Racks was diligent in keeping us informed and more than fair on pricing. He's very friendly and quick to respond. We'll go back. I'd greatly recommend Tuan Auto to anyone.

Rex, the guy who runs the shop, is very trustworthy and knowledgeable. I go in and I see the whole wall full of thank you cards from customers who are happy. I kind of read them and they seem really genuine. I have taken my car to him on occasion. One time, I didn't realize that the gas cap was loose and that is why the check engine light went on, and he didn't charge me anything for that. I think that he is very knowledgeable and gets right down to business, but I feel like he is very honest with what he charges and the work that he does.

They were definitely cheaper than almost everyone else that I tried to get quotes from. Some of the other prices I got were twice as much as what I paid at Tuan. I missed the appointment because I overslept but they were really friendly about it and got me a new time after that. They asked if I wanted to use new or used parts and I told them I just wanted the cheapest option so they put in used parts. If I need any more big work done, I always call Tuan first to ask for quotes. I recommend them to everyone out here. They don't have much of a waiting room and they can be hard to find, but those are the only negatives.

Tuan Auto Repair has very reasonable prices and they do great work. They are a little shop but I never feel they are trying to up sell me on services.

I have used them in the past and there prices are much better than a large chain location that I had gone in the past. This is a small local shop. They are close to my home and it is very convenient. They have testimonials from customers pinned up on their walls.

THEY DIDN'T LOOK AT THE CAR TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS QUICKLY AS I LIKE, BUT ONCE THEY DID, THE REPAIRS WERE QUICK.
