Alterations/Sewing/Decorating
I've been going to Tom's for about 15 years and was very satisfied. Great people, and they always do a good job. However in my last 3-4 visits the work was not complete when I arrived to pick it up (at the quoted time); the last time I had even called ahead to make sure it was ready. In another case I left clothes behind because they were very busy and was told he'd call me with a price before doing the work. After not getting a call a week later I called them, and it took me 4 phonecalls over the course of another week to finally get a price for the work. They seem to be really struggling to keep up and sadly I've decided to stop going.

This is a very labor intensive process... it was expensive and I expected it to be. Tom is very gracious and an extremely good tailor. As with so many things in life... you get what you pay for. He is very good at what he does. Recommended without any reservations...

They did a superb job and I thought their price was quite reasonable. The shop is very busy -- be prepared to wait a few minutes, but it is worth it.  Tom is just a lovely person who treats every customer like someone special.  I wish more small businesses (and large ones!) put that much emphasis on customer service.  In case anyone reading this is concerned about this, English is not the first language of anyone working at Tom's Tailor, but I had no difficulty at all communicating what I wanted to Tom or his assistants, nor did I have any trouble understanding Tom's questions or recommendations. I will use their services again and again.

Tom and his staff are top notch. I recently had them alter a bridesmaid dress to shorten it and modify the bodice, and it looks perfect. I have also had them do major alterations to other dresses, make repairs to clothing, and the true test - shorten jeans. They always have things ready on time, they fit great, and I think the prices are reasonable. I have never had anything but good experiences.

The experience was fantastic. They did the job quickly, yet with very high quality. Everyone there was friendly, and made the experience a pleasure.

The friendly seamstress had my spouse try on his sport coat and she pinned the places that needed work. She said it would be ready in 3 days. It was and it fit very well. We were pleased.

It's a one person business. She comes to the house and picks up the stuff and then she takes it to wherever she does and then she delivers it which is very nice. She is very honest and price was incredibly reasonable.

I brought in my wool dress pants for alteration. They had me try them on and marked them for the adjustment on the spot. The workmanship is impeccable and my dress pants fit me perfectly.

I've used Tom's for several years. Of late, service is grossly inconsistent. I brought in a pair of cuffed slacks to show exactly how I wanted my pants hemmed and cuffed, using a strong straight stitch and not a blind hem stitcher. I was assured that my instructions would be followed. The instructions were not followed and a blind hem stitch was used to hem all the slacks. Bear in mind, all were with cuffs. One pair of slacks was severely damaged at the cuff. The attendant claimed the 100% wool gabardine fabric was defective and the damage hadn't been done at Tom's. Another tailor shop advised that it was clearly a problem caused by the sewing machine's hem stitcher being set wrong. One pair of slacks was apparently cut where the man who marked the alteration had designated as the finished inseam, then cuffed. I didn't try on the altered slacks for several weeks and was astounded to discover that a pair of suit pants which was to have a 29" inseam with cuffs, was cuffed to a 26" inseam. Fortunately, another tailor was able to drop the cuff and give me a pair of wearable slacks for this suit.
In the past, I had great service from Tom's and truly lament the fact that I can no longer trust the work from that shop. I really hope that this was an isolated situation and that the problem issues have been corrected. The gentleman, who I believe is the proprietor, has always been extremely professional and courteous. When he would measure for alteration, I knew that the work would be done exactly as designated. This last experience almost cost me the use of quite an expensive suit of clothing.

I was very particular about the design matching the actual dress, and they matched it to a T.  That's what I liked the most.  I had a question whether I had spent too much, but it came out really nicely, so I think it’s okay.

He did the work as he described within a reasonable period of time and at a reasonable cost. I was very happy with the work that he did. He was straightforward and gave me good advice as well.

I brought three pair of women's dress slacks in for alteration. I did not need an appointment. I waited barely two minutes before I was shown a changing room. The tailor quickly placed a few pins to show where alterations were needed (cuffs and waistband). I got a phone call about three days later to let me know my alterations were done. The slacks fit beautifully and the price was very reasonable. My husband also had a suit jacket altered at Tom's and was very satisfied with the result. We have tried other tailor/alterattion places in the neighborhood and have been disappointed. I now bring all my alterations to Tom's.

I chose Tom's Tailor because they had a good rating on Angie's List and I have heard good things about them. The location is very convenient. They were outstanding. I am very pleased with their service. They measured me on the spot. I will use their service in the future.

The panels were finished a day after the original estimate. The shop did call in advance to let me know. Not only was the hem on panels visible from the front (not at all like the original hem) the stitching was sloppy and puckered. It looked like the wrong tension was used. The panels were poorly cared for while at his shop; there were stains where pins had been used, several sections had pulled threads and there were water stains. Futhermore the lining was not the same length as the silk so the curtains don't hang properly. It looked as though the individual had never worked with silk. The overall job was shotty and surprisingly poor workmanship for a tailor who received so many A ratings. I called to info Tom of my complaints. He confirmed that he did the work himself. He offered to fix the hem and remove the stain. But given the number of issues and extremely poor quality, I wasn't willing to take anymore chances. He did not offer to refund my money.

The jacket is now better than new. My only complaint is that there was no one to greet me when I entered the shop either to drop off or pick up and there is no bell or other indication of how to get someone's attention from the back room.

Was quoted the prices and they were very professional and accommodating. They did a great job. They charge a little more than most but do a really good job.

The tailor insisted that he measure the inseam of each leg on each pair of slacks. He related that it appeared that I have a high hip and that the inseams could vary. I asked for a straight stitched jean hem, not a blind stitch as used for dress slacks. The hemming was performed exactly as I requested. I was told they would be complete on Thursday, and they were.

I have had Tom's Tailor do alternations work on numerous types of ladies' jackets, sweaters, pants, etc., as well as mending and preparing a hooked rug for hanging. They provide excellent and courteous service. We are glad to have them in the neighborhood.
