This was a lead abatement bid for a large job. This contractor did not bring a tape measure and was to embarrassed to borrow mine. It was confusing to get the bid from him as he was not very specific on what he was going to do. He wanted to use MDF trim in areas that it should not be used and would not keep in the character of our 100 year old house. He did not come across as confident. His referral for a welding designer for our stair case railing may have worked for the need to have a removable but decorative railing for the staircase...but it would not have fit with the character of the house. The contractor we did use mentioned that he had done rework for others that had used this contractor.

At first our experience with them wasn't bad. But then it wasn't good at all. They tried to charge way more than what was quoted on job by a lot. We called them on it and they back tracked down the stuff. We ended up not having to pay the additional $2000 that they wanted. It wasn't the greatest experience. We won't use them again. The first time they actually did a good job with the doors and they were affordable. We had them come back out to redo the railings in our old house. We agreed to a certain price. They did a decent enough job but then they wanted to charge additional $1500 to $1700.

Some reviews are just bashing, We actually completed and were paid on 11/07/2012. The price was $2,871.00 The owner made a few changes to his plans, plus the lady of the house was pregnant and requested all painting and staining be done off site. witch all added some labor and materials. we could not use any of the items the homeowner picked for materials , I ended up special ordering paint grade poplar materials from Baird Brothers lumber and had to pay for shipping. When I asked for extra money the owners freaked. So just to get my money back that I spent on labor and materials I stuck with original quote. All work was performed to standard, it seems they just didn't want to pay for changes. LarryAbra S.

It absolutely worked well. They did top notch work. They provided the right number of workers to get the job done in a reasonable time frame. When the final bill came in, it was as quoted. When we went out to contractors, they were the first to respond and always came back very quickly with response. They did good work.

We have used This 'n That Maintenance. It was for a whole host of home improvement work. We had multiple parts of the job, from painting, to laying down flooring, to demo and remodel.

The owner, Larry, replied promptly to my request for a siding estimate, which was very competitive and budget-friendly. Once I awarded him the job, he had a crew at my house ready to work just a few days later (the high bidder couldn't get to me for months). They completed it in two days, and it looks great! His crew were very polite and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves when the job was done. Larry was honest about what needed doing--and also what I could get away with NOT doing, which saved me a lot of money. The other bidders automatically included the replacement of soffit, fascia, and gutters in their bids; Larry said the existing ones were in decent shape and would suffice if I wanted to keep the costs down. The siding used (Vyrtec's Prestige brand) is neither top nor bottom of the line in the siding world, as best I can tell. I'm looking to sell my house soon so I wasn't willing to shell out for the Cadillac of siding products--but I wanted a decent quality at a decent price, which is what I got. I should note that if you are looking for a lot of help with design services, Larry probably isn't your guy. Ask his opinion and he'll give it to you, but don't expect fancy design mockups, etc. If you know what you want and are ready to get the job done promptly at a good price, though, he's definitely your guy. I would use his services again and recommend him to others.

Installed new vinyl siding on my suburban split-entry home. Job included tear-off of the old siding, repair of minor rot/damage underneath, installation of new siding, wrapping the old trim, and installing new shutters on the front windows.

The job was done all in one day. They were very thorough. Neat. Didn't leave any mess. They hauled away all the old materials. It was very professional.

Remove old attic insulation and replaced it with new, properly vented the attic to prevent ice dams and water running down interior walls where roof lines meet.

The original problem I'd been trying to solve was that, after a snow or frost, I could look at the roof and see exactly where the rafters were, because snow melted between them, meaning that heat was leaking out of the house. I arranged for an Xcel home energy audit, and the contractor had been on the Xcel contractor list. Response to initial call was timely and polite. Estimate process was professional, and we ended up revising our plans as a result (saving 50% versus a previous estimate by another contractor). Estimate delivery and subsequent clarifications were via email and worked well. Workers arrived when scheduled and were polite and professional, and the work was completed in a timely way. I'd been happy with the work until, a week after the work was completed, it snowed again, and I could visually see that the problem had not been resolved. I took pictures and sent them to the contractor via email, asking for a response. After five days of no response, I called the contractor. He said that he'd discussed with his staff and "they did everything they could". He said that he would come back only after NEC (Neighborhood Energy, who performs energy audits for Xcel's energy conservation program) completed a post-install audit to identify any leaks. He was not at all interested in checking the work himself ("we wouldn't know what to fix") prior to any such audit. I was disappointed that the contractor (1) did not respond to my concern in what I considered to be a timely way, and (2) did not take effective action to at least determine that the work had been completed to his standards, and (3) appeared to "outsource" his quality control responsibility to a third party.

Add another layer of insulation to box above attic stair. Insulate above kitchen overhang. Insulate above home addition.

The NEC is the 3rd party in the Excel energy program. They have infa red cameras that let us know where the work can be improved. I let the member know this, the insulation blown into a 12 inch floored over cavity. very very hard to see through a floor. We did what we thought to be a good job and agreed to install more insulation after the NEC used their cameras to see through the floor.Dagmar R.

I called this company for a free estimate for insulation. We had a date set and then he called to reschedule on that day, and then called back stating he could come on that day - it went something like that. Anyway, he came with his young daughter which wasn't a big deal, but maybe a tad on the unprofessional side. He seemed to look all over my house for insulation problems and sent me an estimate. I have since decided to go with another company. I just wasn't all that impressed.

They did the completed job in one day. They stacked the old insulation in the front yard for later pickup by a different truck. They covered the carpet on the stairs, hallway, and bedroom. The overall cleanup was excellent. They came on the scheduled day. They were very professional in their assessment of what was needed and in carrying out the job.
Description of Work
They removed old, inadequate fiberglass insulation from the attic. We had ice dam problems. They insulated with blown in cellulose to get it up to the proper R value, making sure the vertical walls of out vaulted bathroom ceiling were also insulated. They also made an insulated panel for the entrance to the attic. They investigated a couple cold spots in my kitchen to see if it needed more insulation. They figured out it needed a little more insulation in the basement underneath the kitchen floor and added that. I was very satisfied with the overall job.

Larry was great to work with, he was very professional and did a good job of detailing what was going to be done, as well as discuss other options. His subcontractors did a good job also, although not as thorough as he was they did ok and Larry always made sure it was done up to his standards or he would complete the work himself. Very happy with Larry's work. I would happily recommend him to someone needing work done.
