DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! the end result is 85% WEEDS - yes - after several calls they re-sprayed some of the bare/thin areas but the weeds had already been well established -

It was a great process and the result is excellent.
As with all of my projects, I really nerded out on this one. I shopped around for different hydroseeding vendors. I priced out the costs and examined the benefits of sod installation. I compared bids to see who would remove debris (and who wouldn't), type of seed mix, etc.
I settled on TC Hydroseeding after meeting Christian, getting his bid, and reviewing the company on Angie's List. I believe I had 4 bids in hand. Christian's was the second lowest, though the lowest was from a company that did NOT include the price of debris removal. I was going to have to rent a dumpster, coordinate the dumpster's drop-off and pick-up, and pay for one (or maybe two) dumpsters apart from the project bid. When that additional cost was included, TC Hydroseeding's bid was the cheapest.
I had some questions about whether grass would grow in some of the shadier areas of the lawn. Christian described the seed mix they use, expressed confidence in his ability to get seed growing there, and (as I later peppered him with the same questions), remained steadfast in standing by the work they would do for me.
The project itself was great. They killed off the old grass with a Round-Up-like product. It took a couple of weeks (just as they described) for everything to really keel over. But man, was it dead when those 2 weeks passed.
Next, they came and removed the debris, rough-raked the yard with a bobcat AND by hand, and added about 15 yards of dirt to the lawn to smooth out low spots and do a variety of other spot work.
At that point, my wife (Mission Control) decided we need to add a new play system in the back yard. So I told Christian he was going to have to stop while I did a bunch of work preparing the pad and installing a new play system. That pushed the project back a couple of weeks, and Christian never blinked an eye (even though the delay caused him a huge pain in the butt because all of their pre-work in grading the yard and preparing it for seeding went to waste... they had to redo it, and they did (AT NO ADDITIONAL COST).
Anyway, when we finally had our ducks in a row, Christian came back out, they re-graded and prepped the lawn, and they sprayed the seed. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical, but it behaved just like Christian said it would.
We've got a great lawn. Christian is responsible for it. He followed up with me, was patient with me when we asked him to halt the process RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, and he was very communicative and responsive. At the end of the day, my goal was to have a great new lawn that looks healthy. I've got it in spades, and I'm really happy with it. It was about half the cost of sodding the lawn, and I think I have a better look, healthier lawn, and better result. Great work guys. Thanks so much.

Quikcly responded to my online request, and sent an estimate through shortly after. Performed the work as soon as weather cooperated, and provided detailed instructions on how to water it.  Looking good so far, had the work completed 3 weeks ago.

They were good. I thought that the pricing was excellent. They came out and it looked like a good job. I asked them some questions about the grass not coming in fast enough. They were not as responsive as they should have. I did not find the follow-up was good. The grass came up after that. The job turned out good in the end. I would use them again.

We contracted with Christian at TCH in early spring. He was helpful, knowledgeable, and reassuring. He guaranteed us a great lawn, which, as it turned out, because of the weather, was quite an obligation. Christian and a crew killed the existing lawn, removed the  sod, and neatly prepared the yard for hydroseeding. No sooner was the seed down than a series of June thunderstorms threatened to wash away the seed. Christian returned after each storm to clean dirt from the city sidewalk and reassure us that we would soon have the lawn we wanted. And, that's what happened. The seed sprouted -- even on the steep bank in front of our house -- and, within weeks, we were mowing an emerald green lawn. Terrific. We couldn't be more satisfied with both hydroseeding and Christian's work.

We kept getting rain, so I had to reschedule a few times, and they were very accommodating and punctual. Showed up when the committed, and got the job done quickly. Price was fair, and cheaper than me buying the seed and grass mats to cover it. I had never done hydroseeding, so I learned a little bit. It was thin in places, so I would have had it sprayed thicker, as it really grew well where it was a little thicker. However, 4 weeks later it is 100% green, although a little thin in places. The results are better than anticipated

Great experience, great team! I wasted a lot of time contacting other landscape companies which had a hydroseeding reference on Angie's list but either had never performed this service or had discontinued it. Since we were arranging to seed in November, I was beginning to expect we wouldn't find any one to do the job. So I was quite surprised when TC Hydroseeding was not only still in the business, but very responsive and willing to get the job done before inclement weather the following week. They are a small business run by young guys with a lot of integrity. They we able to answer all of my questions about hydroseeding in the fall. Normally fall seeding has a very low germination rate (40%) due to seeds being redistributed by wind, water and birds. But hydroseeding pastes seed into place with a fertilized fibrous mulch mixture resulting in more than 80% germination. They were also able to put down multiple varieties of grass on the same service call, which was exactly what we needed. Their minimum charge was $600 for 2,500 square feet. Though we had less than this area to do, we decided to commit. Our landscape project which was just completed left us with amended soil on the boulevard and a putting green size lawn in the front yard. We also had built up soil to create a slope on the west of our property, which we did not want to see eroded by spring. We also had installed a retaining wall to the east and in the process tore up the empty lot there. Hard scape features would make maintaining grasses to the east and west a pain, so we had them put down a No-Mow mixture. They showed on time, were incredibly friendly, careful not to spray outside the areas requested and didn't disturb anything with their significantly large and long rubber hoses (they even have a canon mounted atop the truck for fields). The only draw back was that for the first few weeks the color was almost turquoise. The neighbors were very curious about this color, so we were happy when it faded to a more natural pine green. It's still winter and a very warm and wet one at that, but we've seen minimal erosion so far. I'll update this review in the spring after we have growth to report on final success.

They did a good job and the price was comparable. I was very pleased with the service. I called around and received a few estimates. Theirs wasn't the highest, but it also was not the lowest either. I was happy with the service.
