Steve Buchanan Painting & Decorating LLC

I have used Steve a number of times before, so I knew what to expect. Steve is a very hard worker, puts in a full days work, covers up absolutely everything that might catch a stray drop of paint and cleans up each day before he leaves. Steve knows his business and gets it right. I had initially hired him for a week, but the job was huge, so he gave two more days before he had to move on. He repaired miles of tape on corners of sheetrock that had pulled away form the edges ( typical of newer house builder quality, unfortunately!). He also repaired dozens of nail pops and then needed to repaint entire walls, including an entire winding staircase. I also had Steve repaint the kitchen , dining area, dining room and major portions of three bedrooms and the basement . This was a BIG JOB and very tedious. As always, Steve did a first class job at a very fair price.

It went well and we're looking forward to the clean garage space as we prepare for winter. Steve is punctual, very clean and professional. He did a great job!

Steve was prompt. He did a good job and cleaned up afterwards. I have had him for prior jobs and have had good experiences each time.

Steve was great.  We had removed wallpaper from our bedroom that was two layers thick and practically cemented to the walls so left a lot of damage to the drywall -- some of it quite extensive.  It's a large room, and over the course of three days Steve transformed it into a very pretty bedroom with nice, smooth walls.  You'd never even know there had been such damage.  Very nice, professional paint job as well.  We are very pleased and would not hesitate to use him again in the future.

Steve painted four rooms in our home.  Steve was prompt, very polite, meticulous and an absolute joy to have in our home for 8 days.  I have had painters in our home for years and Steve, by far exceeded our expectations on every level. 
We are extremely happy with his work and will use him again in the near future.

Steve is very meticulous and when he finishes a project it is all immaculate and the furniture in back in place.  He uses  paper to cover floors that is taped on the edges.  He uses plastic sheeting to isolate an room where he'll be sanding.  He masks all woodwork, wall lights, thermostat, etc.  To do this job he spent four full days.  He's very considerate of our needs and at the end of the day, he would stack all materials and equipment on the side of the room so we could move around freely.

Steve was on time, quick and professional.

Steve was great. Always on time (even with a nasty snowstorm!), courteous and professional. He did the entire main floor (walls and ceilings) sans kitchen, as well as the main bathroom in 5 days.
Steve was very accommodating regarding timing - I first contacted him early in the year, and he was happy to reschedule due to multiple slippages in the schedule. He was also very understanding on paint selection - literally once didn't know what color he was going to be putting up the next day, but didn't blink an eye!
Steve also was incredibility detail orientated - we had some textured wallpaper that someone put up 50 years ago that had been painted over half a dozen times - and had recently had the walls patched from some electrical work. He spent more time than I would have trying to match the texture on those walls, and wouldn't quit until he got them as close as he could!
I should also point out we just had our hardwood floors refinished, and I have incredible original oak woodwork (crown molding, hutch etc..), and he did a spotless job of making sure not a drop of paint landed on any of it!
I would highly recommend him for any painting projects you may have.

It went well.  We  hired him again to finish a hallway that had some recent construction work done.  He is timely, considerate, professional, and  you can tell he cares about the results.

It was a great experience despite a messy job for him.  He was great about cleaning up so we could use the rooms somewhat during the process.

This work had to be done in our abscence and I left detailed written instructions.  On his recommendation I purchased a coupon from him for 2 painters for a day.  Apparently this did not apply since he works by himself.  Had he brought someone along with him he might have been able to complete the entire job.  As it was he ran out of time painting two rooms and an exterior garage wall.  To be fair, I had added this work on and he had not budgeted time for the additional work.  When I asked when he could finish the rest of the work, he quit and said he was not used to working in that way.  He also said there were a lot of colors of paint to deal with.  There were no stripes, two rooms were all one color as well as rooms that he did not do.   I usually have good relationships with contractors that work on rennovations so I am puzzled by this one.  The quality of the work was uneven, and the clean up was not great.  He left plaster dust, and specs of paint on the windows after the woodwork was painted.  He told me to go back to Angie's List and find someone else, which I will.   The dispute seemed to be about payment, when I said there would be delay of the last payment of $200 so I could check the work upon my return.  Mainly he seemed to be in complaint mode all along.  I will look for someone who is not.

This was a very large job.  My wife and I have painted several of the rooms in our home before.  We are comfortable doing a single room/area that can be cleaned up, tarped, taped, and painted in a two-day weekend.  However, the main floor was a huge area (1200 sq. ft.) in an open floor plan where each of the 5 rooms blends into each other.  There were 7 colors of paint used.  This resulted in lots of ajoining walls and color lines to be cut.
Steve did all the work himself.  It took about 46 hours to complete the job, so the house was out of use for about a week.  This was a little inconvient but would have been completely unlivable if we'd tried to do the work ourselves on the weekends.
The quality of workmanship was exceptional.  It has been a couple days and I still gawk at the difference in the way the house looks.  Steve cleaned up and patched the walls where it was needed, applied grey primer, and sealing primer where needed.  So far, I haven't found a defect or concern in the workmanship.
We didn't obtain multiple quotes so I can't comment on price, however Steve compared well to other online offers.  The estimate was very close to the actual time, so no surprises at the end.  I'm extremely pleased with the personal value of the impromvent to my home and the price was reasonable.

Purchased the Angie's List deal for 8 hours worth of work. I purchased the paint and Steve promptly scheduled a time to paint. He had all the necessary materials needed to get the job done - very professional and efficient! Final product looks great - would hire again!
