The problem was the alternator and battery (as we already knew). Signal Garage estimated the cost for a new alternator and repair as $990. I called my usual mechanic in North Minneapolis and he said the estimate was ridiculous and quoted me the full, warrantied repair at $500. So I had to pay for a new tow ($100), to very far away, and the $65 and quot;diagnosticand quot;, even though we already knew the problem.
They call themselves and quot;woman friendlyand quot;, but I think I was given this quote because I was a single woman. Their estimate was double the cost of their competitors. I informed them of this and was given the response and quot;If they want this they can have itand quot;, as if it wasn't even worth his time.

Around a year ago I took my car to another auto shop because there was a knocking noise in the back and I thought my car may need new struts. I was told the struts were fine, but there was a problem with bushings and sway bar. They and quot;fixedand quot; it, but the problem re-occurred in a matter of months. This time I went to Signal Garage and said I might have a problem with bushings and sway bar again because of the knocking noise. They checked it out and said I need new struts and brake work, so I had the work done along with replacing the motor on 2 windows. But when I drove it off the lot the knocking was still there. It was difficult for me to tell the difference in the knocking before and after the work was done. I was too busy to take it back in until one day there was a new, large clunking noise that sounded like something was going to fall off. I called Signal and explained the knocking noise was never fixed and now I had a new problem. They couldn't get my car in for a few days and I decided to take it elsewhere. I haven't had an issue with the struts or windows, but they missed the mark on the problem I wanted fixed.

Today I received the garage's introductory offer which they had sent me in the mail. I had not been in for a while since I get serviced if needed when on the road. A 119 point check up was completed, along with topping up fluids, etc., and I fully expected it to turn up something or another on my 60,000+ mile car. An hour and a half later they handed me my key fob and sent me on my way. No additional charges were assessed. Their work is warranted by them under their and quot;Fix-it Foreverand quot; program, so I never worry that it would not be taken care of should there be an issue . There has never been an issue, requiring recourse to their warranty service.
I found Signal Garage several years ago when looks for an auto service which had the AAA seal of approval. Over the years I have had four different vehicles under their care. I have been especially impressed with their expertise and their integrity, never and quot;fixingand quot; or proposing to and quot;fixand quot; anything that did not need it. Typically I have suggested something be replaced and they have reported back to me that it was not a needed service.
Their mechanics are each certified for the systems on which they individually work, be it electrical or AC or transmission, etc.
I also appreciate their efforts to be and quot;greenand quot; and their support of the community, offering free services on occasion to customers who bring in canned goods for the local food shelf.
They richly deserve their fine reputation and our continued support.

I am the owner of a small construction company and I value honesty and integrity. This is a place I feel safe where I can trust their experience and knowledge to know I will be treated right. I would highly recommend anyone to use Signal Garage as their go to shop for auto repair.

They do what they promise and they stick to their price.

I've been going to this auto shop for about a year. Overall, the experience is always good. I bring all three of my cars to this shop. I'm satisfied with their services.

I bought their annual package, so I get 4 free lubrications, oil and filter changes. I consider that to be a pretty good deal and there are also discounts on other things. I trust them. Sometimes, when I thought that there was something wrong or needed to be changed, they have said that I absolutely did not need it. Their professionalism is very high and the service environment is also wonderful. They have a wonderful waiting room with coffee providers and a flat screen TV and it is very pleasant. I judge a mechanic by how clean the shop floor is and whether they seem organized and use their tools. They are top-notch. There are very few garages that are rated by AAA and given best skills approval and they are one of them. I always call them whenever I travel and check with them if there is one of their AAA garages in the area.

Everything was perfect. Done on time and the car was clean. I inspected the work at home and found the under car was evenly coated. Lifetime waranty also.

I do not drive as much as I used to. I asked them to check the tires for need of rotation. They checked their records, examined the tires and stated that they did not yet need rotation. When they checked the air filter last time I was in, they declined to change it. This time they said it was dirty (first change in three years of ownership of the car! Very honest, very professional, very competent.

They are excellent. They are reasonable. They are very responsive. I brought my vehicle back in after an oil change, because I noticed some leaking. They diagnosed the problem and were happy to correct it. They have been given very high ratings for their repairs. I give them all A’s for their services and I will continue to use them in the future.

Owner was courteous and helpful. Promised work to be done in one day and delivered. Described the problem to me adequately and explained how they needed to improvise a solution based on the unavailability of a certain part. They did a fine job.
