They did everything I needed to have done. The price could always be better but it's worth the price.

I purchased a Certified PreOwned VW Passat from Schmelz 2 weeks ago, but waited to do my review until now as there was a repair they promised to do at the time of purchase.
Sale: The salesperson I dealt, Gary, was very easy to work with. He kept in touch without being pushy. He helped get the service appointment setup for the door handle repair. Wish they would have caught the door handle issue, nut it was on the passenger side.
Service: The service experience was excellent. They quoted a repair time of 1.5 hours, but finished 15 minutes early. Car was returned after a run through their car wash.
Overall, completed satisfied with Schmelz. Their quality of service was much better than what I experienced with Luther.

It is high quality. They are a dealership, so they are probably more expensive. I haven't had any issues since the service was provided.

We serviced our golf at Schmelz for 7 years. Schmelz was always responsive, professional, and accommodating. I marked the price as a B as service with the dealer is often a bit more expensive... though we appreciated the tracking of service, the information, and the quality of service. I would often bring our vehicle in with my two small children in tow and always felt welcome.

I made an appointment and they fixed it while I waited. The fix involved taking off the interior door panel so it took over an hour. They said a wire had become disconnected and even though it was a little out of warranty, they fixed it for no charge. They were fast and professional. I was very pleased with this service.

First of all VW cars are notoriously unreliable ( pls. google search and quot; VW passat lemon and quot;and you will find numerous complaints about the quality and reliability of VW Passat cars.
My dissatisfaction with this dealership goes back a long way ( from the very first day I bought this car). While buying this certified pre owned car , first the sales guy marked up the price of the car and then offered me a discount to bring down the price of the car a bit ! The sales people at VW Schmelz has some really low standards of ethics , I guess.
Anyways , once I had the car, I used to go to the dealership for periodic service related matters and also with numerous problems with the car. Their prices were always higher than average and service provided was average. I had a consistent problem with the car battery and they could never solve it.
Finally I took it to a independent car mechanic who specializes in European cars and he solved it. I sold the car and since then have been very happy with another car known very well for its reliability.
Unreliable cars, high prices, average service , unethical sales people.....I would definitely stay away from Schmelz Countryside and VW cars altogether !

I was only o.k. with the service. It seemed hectic and not well flowing with how they process service at their location.
I would go back because they specialize in Volkswagens, but I would need to be diligent about clarifying what I need and watching that the service is performed as asked.

I really like their service, especially the service coordinators; they are dependable and helpful. I work with one service coordinator who works between me and the mechanics; they always give me all the information up front and call me if anything changes.

Our Jetta was not shifting well, and was particularly hard to get into 1st gear. We took it in. They made it shift into 1st, but otherwise no improvement. The shifter totally broke this week, we bought a replacement part, and it shifts better than it has done for years.

Found a 2009 Saab on the internet and made initial contact via email. Went and drove the car several times before purchasing. TK was easy to deal with and the process was simple. Have been back once for routine service and all went well.

They are not any good. Their estimates were off by 100 percent. You go in for one job and come out with another one. This happened twice. They definitely try to up sell everything and are constantly marking things even though I've had service done at other places. There is no condition that says that I have to have all my service maintenance done at Volkswagen; I just need to have it done. They are continually marking my record as not having it done and trying to up sell me on maintenance, which is clearly over. I'm not too happy with them. They took longer than expected to do the work and the price was wildly misquoted. It is hard to get hold of the service agent; they always have to do a callback. The quality of their work was fine. They are a Volkswagen dealership on my side of town, so unfortunately I will probably use them again if I get something that only Volkswagen can fix, but I won't be happy about it.

I did my research online prior to visiting the dealership looking for the best value and price. I had specific options I wanted. I was looking for a VW Jetta (this will be the 4th one I've owned) and I love the car. I showed up at the dealership with VIN numbers for several vehicles I wanted to see. The sales rep showed me those cars and several others. I found the car I eventually bought and it had everything I wanted except for a sun roof. It even came with a bluetooth connection in the car already hooked up. I was sold! I love the car. It's great. It rides like a VW should!! You can't beat those tight corners or being able to do a U turn on a Mpls city street. (No 3 point turns for the VW!!) And, their finance guy, Brian, was awesome!! I got exceptional financing!

This vehicle was originally purchased at Schmelz and had only been serviced there up to now. They simply could not solve the problem of why the check engine light kept coming back on, along with some engine performance problems. The "bad fuel" business was totally off. After taking my car in twice and not getting the problem solved I decided it was time for a second opinion. (Schmelz had also suggested that the problem could be with the 02 sensor.) With the help of Angie's List I located an excellent mechanic who finally correctly diagnosed and solved the problem. Schmelz had installed a bad MAF sensor, which was a rebuilt part. They had checked out the sensor after their original install on 6/03 and said it was not the problem. I didn't think I had anyway to get satisfaction from Schmelz on this matter. In addition to the MAF sensor Schmelz had also missed diagnosing a clogged vacuum jet valve. Once I had the MAF replaced (again) along with the vacuum jet valve the car is now running well. The whole experience with Schmelz was very frustrating. I found the service adviser easy to work with, but she was reliant on the technicians behind the scenes.

Staff was courteous and the shop is immaculate. Work was completed reasonably promptly. It could be difficult at times to speak to the representative (four hours of calling on one occasion). My primary complaint is cost. $165 an hour for diagnostics is ridiculous. As is the fact that the dashboard light came back on within 10 miles of leaving the shop. The problem got solved, but $750 is a lot to replace on $35 sensor and tighten one hose connection.

Countryside Saab has really improved their customer service over the past couple of years. Now when I'm there the level of attentiveness is amazing. They continuously surprise me when I'm not expecting it. During this visit for the 30k checkup (which is 100% warranty covered) they noticed (I already knew and was shopping around) that I needed new tires. I never gave them a thought as a possible place to buy tires as I guessed they'd both not have them in stock, and be way over priced. I was surprised on both counts. They not only had them, but the price was the same as the place "where it's always a good day". Done deal, new tires all around, and saved me a separate trip to get the job done elsewhere.

OK. I asked for a morning appointment (the job is quite simple and I didn't want to spend all day at the dealership). I got one not too far into the future. It would have been nice if they told me the work would be done at their "express service" location (behind the main shop). Once I got there, they were expecting me and went right to work. They came back in a few minutes to tell me both brake light bulbs were burned out and asked if I wanted to replace them. I consented. Some minutes later, my car was washed and parked outside. They presented the bill. Nothing for the warranty work, but around $40 for replacing both bulbs. I find that price unconscionable for work I've done myself before for a few bucks in bulbs and about five minutes per bulb (tops) in labor. Didn't want to go a day without brake lights, though.

We would definitely recommend this company to anyone. We were pleased that we had a good outcome with our purchase. The sales people were friendly and made sure to answer all of our questions.

I had to have my car towed to Schmelz due to an overheating situation. It was several days before they could look at my car, but did professional work once it was. Their prices are a bit high, but I got what I needed and didn't have to worry about the quality of the repairs.

I switched my regular VW maintenance to Schmelz after originally going to the VW dealer from whom I purchased the car and receiving horrible service (they might not want to have mostly high schoolers working in their service department). I have been extremely happy with Schmelz and go there even though it is nowhere near my house. They are prompt, professional, explain all of their charges and always provide excellent service (which includes a convenient shuttle service). My car was not accelerating after hitting a pothole and they figured out that there was a pinched fuel line. Repairs less than $1300 do not go on my insurance as a reportable claim. Schmelz's original cost was $1325, but they adjusted it to be under $1300 when they heard about my insurance situation. Now that is customer service.

They called me and said it was ready to pick up. When I arrived, the CD player was not fixed and the locks were not fixed. Apparently the light issue was user error. I told them I was very inconvenienced by coming back, they were rude and finally gave me a rental car. Then, they offered to pick up the rental car--they did not show up at the agreed upon time. For a second time, I was inconvenienced. Then, after I gave them poor marks on the VW survey, they retaliated by charging me for the rental that they said they would pay for. The assistant service manager was rude, condescending and retaliatory. I will never go back, nor should you.

THEY'VE BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE ONCE THE CAR GETS IN AND HAVE KEPT US INFORMED WITH WHAT'S GOING ON. MY MAIN ISSUES ARE THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK TO GET THE CAR IN. ANOTHER ONE WAS THAT THEY COULDN'T GET THE PART AND COULDN'T DO THE WORK RIGHT AWAY. THE CAR WAS DISABLED FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS, BUT WHEN I GOT IT BACK, ALL THE PROBLEMS WERE SOLVED.

I have been very pleased with the service I have received at Schmelz. They worked with me to find the best time I could come in and wait for the work to be done- and they were done sooner than they originally told me. I will continue to have my car serviced there.
