River City Hardwood was referred to us by a close friend who knows the work that River City Hardwood has done for others. I checked my Angie's List and found excellent reviews! Had I know River City Hardwood was on Angie’s List, I would have stopped getting estimates!!
Once we contacted Adam, he promptly came to our house and viewed the work of laying a new hardwood floors in our newly remodeled kitchen and new constrution of a powder room off the kitchen. The house was built in 1932. A kitchen addition was added on in 1965. The addition had indoor/outdoor carpeting on top of plywood. The original part of the 1932 kitchen floor, had 3 layers of linoleum. The subfloors where not level. A huge concern of ours was to match the exiting two adjoining room floors.
Adam recognized the wood type and size of the 1932 adjoining rooms so that the new install of flooring would match. Adam's estimate was very reasonable. Due to delays in the cabinet install, we had to reschedule our floor install with Adam and his staff 2-3 times. Adam was always very flexible with re-scheduling and continued to meet our schedule.
Adam and his staff Dan and Andy where very professional. We felt comfortable in leaving our home to them as we left for work each day. River City Hardwood did an excellent job…I love my new kitchen hardwood floors! Thank you Adam of River City Hardwood!!

I can't say enough about Adam Schletz and his company, River City Hardwoods.
I was on a very tight schedule to get the carpets up and get the floors refinished in several rooms. To accomodate this, Adam rearranged his schedule, and started the job shortly after providing me with a very reasonable bid. Adam and his assistant Dan completed the job, which covered multiple rooms and multiple flooring surfaces, in four days.
Our house was built in 1890 and Adam encountered a few surprises after tearing up the carpet in a couple of rooms. In our master bedroom, after tearing up the carpet, we discovered two small, but very visible areas, that had plywood instead of hardwood floors. To cover these spots with matching 100+ year old maple, he carefully removed the old, identical wood flooring from one of the closets and used it to patch the flooring the main room. This extra effort ensured a beautiful, continuously colored floor. Then he used new maple flooring in the closet, where it was out of sight (but still gorgeous.)
The whole time the job was progressing Adam kept me up to date by phone on their progress and schedule.

Everything went as planned. Since we had the entire first floor refinished we did have to spend three days in a hotel. He did use an oil-based product so the fumes were present for several days after the floor had cured, so make sure you have the work done when you can open the windows and air the house. We chose the oil-based produce because it is rated as more durable for homes with dogs. After six months the floor still looks great and there are no scratches yet visible from the dogs claws.

I had River City Hardwoods out to refinish the wood floors in my new house. I was referred to them by my brother and his wife who had him do their floors about a year or so earlier. My floors were in great condition, but had an awful yellowing, aging finish on them. Adam came out to do an estimate and was on time, polite, and thoroughly explained my options. My realtor used to be in the hardwood flooring business and even quizzed him a bit. Unfortunately I had to reschedule the floors because my closing kept getting delayed. Adam was extremely understanding, which was a relief to me! Fast forward a couple of weeks, the guys sanded and refinished the floors in about 2 days. The floors look incredible. Better than I could have imagined!! I have a 50 lb dog, plumbers and other repair guys out, I moved in - there's been a lot of traffic- and there's not a single mark. They have a bit of a matte finish which seems like it should scratch, but so far so good!

Great! My son and I left went on vacation while Adam did the first job, and when we returned I noticed a few spots under some radiators that weren't finished. He came over within 2 days to make it right.

They showed up when promised, and got straight to work removing the carpet. I got an estimate based on rough dimensions because we could not get into the house until after we closed. Adam was fine with that and very accomodating. They were able to finish the job ahead of our move in date so that everything went smoothly. They were very professional and I was kept updated on every step of the process. I was very happy and would recommend/use them in the future.

Initially we hired another company to refinish our hardwood floors. After a week, the results were not even close to satisfactory. Thankfully we god our money back and then, another contractor recommended Adam and his crew and they were amazing. Very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, fast and most importantly, the quality of work is amazing. First day three guys showed up and sanded our floors, the next day two of them stained the floors and the next day they finished it with 3 coats of polyurethane. Our floors look amazing now and all of our friends are commenting how great they are. After having a bad experience with another contractor, we know the difference between bad job and good job and we highly recommend Adam and his crew!
