REVIVAL PAINTING

Removed old paint, they put in new rail studs where they were needed. Removed the windows and painted the wood work, window sashes and dividers. Sanded wherever needed they needed to remove paint and smooth surfaces. They did wonderful work. They did the foundation work that needed to be done in order to do the job right. The owner was on site, sometimes twice daily. When he found siding that was in bad condition, he let me know and let me replace it first before he did the work. He pushed me to find colors that really left an impression and pushed me outside of my comfort zone in a good way. He came back and retouched when I called. His initial bid was more than my budget allowed, he reviewed the work that needed to be done and eliminated what he though he could remove with out compromising the quality of the work. He adjusted his offer in order to meet my price budget.

My home is mostly brick brick yet has wood windows and wood trim. Surprisingly to me this is actually a huge painting job with a lot of detail work. I received several quotes around the same price as Revival, however the other quotes would only scrape and do one layer of paint in the original color and did not guarantee the cost. Alexi and crew scraped, sanded, and applied 2 coats in a new color and stuck to the agreed price.
One of the things I have disliked about the paint at my house is the previous owner obviously scraped then painted without sanding. The trim was pitted all over from chipped paint and no sanding. I looked around at many painters and almost none wanted to restore my house to a like new look, they all wanted to just put another coat on top of the pitted base. Revival/Alexi seemed to have experience restoring older homes and said right away they would definitely sand and make it look right.
Another problem my house had was rotting wood. My entry had some trim boards rotted, one of the peaks had two rotted planks, and several of the corners had missing chunks. Alexi replaced all of this wood at a reasonable rate and saved me the headache of trying to find a siding or woodworking person to fix my problem areas. Other quotes from large painting businesses wanted to contract this work out or provide carpenters at an hourly rate. Alexi quoted the cost up front which was much nicer from my point of view.
I believe I received a very good price on very high quality work. I had up to 4 people working on my house for nearly a month. The job took longer than was expected by either Alexi or myself but I know they worked hard and it was done for the contracted price. The wood is all smooth again and nearly looks like new. This is the kind of project that I would have liked to do myself, but it would have taken all summer and I would never have done the amount of labor required to make it look the way it does today.

Alexei he did a fantastic job. He is a kind fellow, does very thorough prep work (for smooth surfaces) paints a dead-straight line and didn't leave a drop of paint. He was patient with us as we picked out colors. He cleaned his materials up at the end of each day. He clearly has a lot of experience with different techniques and media (oil-based, water-based, stain matching, plaster, etc.). He worked with us during a slow period, and did some extra work at no charge, but the work took a bit longer than expected. But he did meet any deadlines we set, and so I can't give him a poor review on speed. We were very pleased with his work and would hire or recommend him for sure.

They have continued to provide excellent service. Everything about them is impeccable including their professionalism, service, clean up, attention to detail, identifying additional areas that may need work and anticipating future problems. We love them not only for how they work but also for what they do. The quality of their work is exceptional. He is a perfectionist in a good way. We did not spend much the last time we used them. I would recommend them to anybody and would use them again in the future.

Alexi was very professional and kept us informed of the process well before the project began. He took great care to educate us on the details of the job because it involved the removal of lead paint and we have a toddler living in the house. His men were meticulous in containing the dust and scapings. We were amazed that they were able to get down to the bare wood through layers of paint that had accumulated over sixty years. They worked long hours and worked each day until the project was complete. The end product is beautiful.

The rooms look fantastic. We was very responsive with coming for the estimate. He was flexible, and came in on the weekend to start the job. He had good recommendations for the type of No VOC paint. Clean up was great and we will definitely use him again.

Alexei is and old-world craftsman and a perfectionist, who really knows older homes and has superb technical skills. Our walls were crumbling and cracked or uneven in location and required substantial plaster (not sheetrock) repair and surface treatment. The results look amazing, and will last a very long time. The decorative radiators look as if sandblasted and booth-painted, even though they were done on-site. And the faux wood painting of the cove molding is remarkable: you'd have to be 6 inches away to know that it's paint, not wood to match the other quarter-sawn woodwork in the house.

The results were superb. Alexei Volochin is a craftsman with old-world perfectionist values, and works hard with his crew to meet high standards. As with any job of this scale, given weather, unexpected issues, and the like, it took longer than we expected. But given the extremely high level of pre-painting surface preparation, attention to details, and knowledge of older homes, we expect the results to last for years-far longer than other, slap-paint-on jobs we have seen in the neighborhood.

I couldn't be happier with the finished results - I recommend working with a color designer to make sure you are going to love the color when the work is complete. The end pricing was true to the bid - something not to be taken granted - Revival Painting cleaned up their work area each day and left nothing but a fresh coat of paint when the job was complete.
