We had a wonderful experience with Redstone Builders.  For years my wife and I had discussed the possibility of adding on to our home.  As we become more serious about doing the project, I learned a coworker of mine had just completed a project with Redstone and coincidentally there was a builder?s open house at his house the following weekend.  We went and inspected their 4 season addition and were pleased with both the design and quality of the workmanship.  My coworker had done extensive research on Angie?s list before selecting Redstone, and my subsequent research confirmed their high ratings and awards.
We began our discussions with Redstone with some concept pictures we had pulled from the internet and some simple hand sketches I had made.  From there, the process was seamless.  Their team which included an interior designer converted our concepts into drawings and made a number of helpful suggestions along the way.  Our project consisted of a 14x18 foot 4 season room addition, and a 16x20 foot 3 season screened in porch with brick fireplace extending off of the 4 season room.  I found their bid to be reasonable and fair.  I also found that they consistently looked for ways to save us money throughout the project.
The project management was professional, the workers were conscientious, the interior designer was very talented and helped us navigate through choices from paint, stain, wood flooring, brick colors for the fireplace, and lighting fixtures for both rooms.  The interior designer made appointments for us and accompanied us to multiple showrooms as we made our selections.  Redstone dealt with the inspector, the various tradesman, landscaper, etc?we only had to interact with Redstone which made this easy.
Simply put, their work is quality and their price was fair.  Throughout the project the communication was good and we felt we were in good hands.  We never had any worries.  They have a philosophy of building as if it was for their mother.  I can confirm that they take great pride in their work and in ensuring that the design is not only of quality construction, but that the style and flow of the space created both from a curb appeal standpoint and from the sense of interior space is something both you and they will be proud of.
When the project was near completion we did a complete walkthrough of the addition with the Redstone team and they took note of anything we saw that needed attention.  Within the next week everything on the list was taken care of.  We have since received numerous compliments from neighbors and friends on what a compliment to our home the new addition is.
Yes I recommend them, in fact I am considering a bathroom and kitchen remodel in the future and will definitely be calling Redstone.

Bob and Dan helped us take a standard builder kitchen + mud room and took it to a new level in aesthetics and functionality.  With minimal deconstruction, we added additional cabinets and transformed cabinet space, updated all appliances, added granite counters, tile floors, built in laundry hampers and mitigated a serious vibration problem stemming from a second floor laundry room.  Their attention to detail is unrivaled in our remodeling experience (closet and basement) and their insight and problem solving made the experience worth while.  The only part of the project that went over time and budget was the vibration mitigation and that was because they didn't know what they would find in the floor joists and were both relentless in trying to solve the problem including contacting the original builder and the city inspector.  We are only sorry that we can't take them with us to WI for our next remodeling project.

Having done many repair and improvement projects over the years on our previous and very old house (1893), we had experienced a lot of frustration dealing with incompetent, indifferent, and often sloppy contractors. Even if the contractors were competent, they often cut corners in order to save themselves time on the job. In most cases we had to watch over them like hawks to try to get a quality finished product, but neither of us have sufficient knowledge or experience in home repair and improvement to be effective supervisors. We always felt very vulnerable when dealing with contractors.  We experienced these frustrations even though we did not always select the low bid contractor. Most of these projects occurred in the ?dark ages?, when reviews and ratings about contractors were not readily available. Even word of mouth recommendations did not always prove to be reliable. Thus, we know what it can be like dealing with bad contractors.
To try and avoid these problems for our recent house remodeling project, we decided to give Angie?s List a try.  This winter we purchased a 3,000 sf house (originally built in 1914) that was uninhabitable. It had been gutted with some plumbing and electrical rough-in, but it needed a lot of work.  It wasn?t a straight-forward project for anyone to take on because some of the re-work had been started, and then the house sat empty for two years.   We essentially needed an entire house remodel (interior) and a little exterior work as well (stucco and railings). This was a big job that needed a contractor who could do the job right within a reasonable time frame and have the expertise and experience to deal with all aspects of rebuilding a 100-year old house.
After all of this research, we selected Redstone Builders.  They seemed like decent, intelligent guys when we first met them. They made us feel at ease about the magnitude of the project and their ability to complete it in a timely manner. We quickly developed a sense that they were the right people for us to work with. From our past experiences with other contractors who also ?seemed? great, however, our optimism about Redstone was mixed with fear that we would eventually run into the kinds of problems we?d had with previous contractors.  However, we could not have been more wrong.
Our faith in home remodeling contractors has been restored. They finished the project on time (14 weeks) and only slightly over budget. The quality exceeded our expectations. We firmly believe that Dan wanted the house to look better than we did, and it does. He is a perfectionist with a fine attention to detail. They are honest, competent, and experienced contractors who have high standards of quality and workmanship.   True to their word, they started on the day they said they would, and had workmen (sometimes a house-full) there nearly every single day (weekends were no exception) working on the project until it was completed.  We never had to wonder what was going on or if someone was going to show up on a given day.   We never felt like they were trying to cut corners, rip us off, or pull the wool over our eyes.  They were always responsive with questions or concerns that we raised.  They were never condescending, rude or impatient.  It was an enjoyable process to work with them to transform the gutted mess that we bought into a beautiful, restored home that we are excited to live in and proud to show off.
Every single room of the house needed extensive work, including: the 3 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, foyer, 1st floor family room, 2 full bathrooms, 1st first-floor half bath with laundry room, and the 3rd floor playroom/family room. The list of tasks they completed is great and included: finish the framing, complete the heating system, complete the plumbing rough-in, complete the electrical system, foam insulation, skim coat all plaster walls, sheetrock and taping of new walls, tile work, refinish original wood floors, install new wood floors, strip and refinish original woodwork, install central air (high velocity) system, install cabinets, install granite counters, install light fixtures, install plumbing fixtures, install exterior railings, and have the top or finish coat of stucco applied. The original wood floors, window seat, buffet, bannister, doors and endless wood trim that had been covered by coats of paint or grimy stain were all restored to stunning condition.  They also found a unique subcontractor to restore our beautiful but neglected nearly 100-year old front door and create a stained glass window for it that matched others in the house.  Thus, we were able to maintain the character of an old house with all of the woodwork and built-ins that we were seeking, but add modern amenities such as central AC and an owner?s suite to make for more comfortable living.  We firmly believe that Redstone did more than was originally promised and consistently erred on the side of exceeding expectations.
A great asset of Redstone is that they are well-connected with an experienced group of sub-contractors who are used to working together and with Bob and Dan.  All of the subcontractors were very competent and eager to do the job right.  We cannot say enough good things about the subs.
Dan and Bob are easy to talk with and work with and are knowledgeable builders. They smartly included time with an interior designer in the budget, which proved very helpful in tile selections and layouts, room configurations, and paint selections. Redstone did not provide the absolute lowest total bid, but when you carefully examine the package, you realize that the allowances (for granite, tile, flooring, etc.) Bob includes are very generous. In our case, the only exception was light fixtures, where lack of a detailed inventory of needed fixtures and some higher end selections on our part resulted in a few thousand over the allowance. The entire project came in only slightly over budget  (4 %) and mostly because of change orders requested by us including a custom dinette table with freestanding bench and additional granite in the laundry room. So in fact, if you desire a quality finished product with high-end finishes, the final total for a Redstone job may actually prove to be lowest in the end. Also, Dan and Bob do not disappear when the final payment is received. They are very concerned that you are completely satisfied. Dan has been back on a few occasions with some of the subs to check and repair a few minor issues and to do paint touchups.
Furthermore, as we were preparing our old house for sale, Bob and Dan offered to help if needed by arranging for subs to work at the house with no markup on their part. After an inspection revealed a leaky shower pan (as a result of shoddy work by previous contractors), we contacted Dan and Bob and they responded just as they had promised. Dan was on the scene with their tile sub within a day or so and figured out a plan to tear out and replace the pan and the affected tile. Dan has taken several trips to the house during the demo and repair just to make sure things are going ok. Dan and Bob are sincere and keep their word. They are the best. We cannot recommend Redstone Builders highly enough.  I imagine that if you consulted with their prior clients, they all would be willing to hire them again. We are no exception, as we plan to hire them to build a new garage.
We aren?t ones to typically write reviews of a company.  We?ve just never felt strongly enough one way or the other to do so.  However, in this case, our experience with them was so positive and we think so highly of them, that we wanted to do what we could to endorse them.  If you want a job that is done right, done to exacting standards and done with the least amount of pain possible, then hire Redstone.  They are that good.

We got the bid from Redstone again even though we already know they do a great job from last experience with them 1.5 years ago(we had a massive renovation-kitchen, bathroom, mudroom, office, guest bedroom, sunroom and a deck) They came much lower than the other reputable company apple to apple. Bob gave us every price we were curious about. What if we do this, what if we that. He never make us feel like we are being too difficult even though I knew we were when we asked him to ask 4 of the closet makers to price walk in closet in 4 different way(all melamine, melamine+ wood, all wood and melamine structure without the drawer systems). He was very professional in every step of the process and make sure that we get what we really want. Once the project started going Dan was making sure that every sub contractor was doing the best they could do and make sure we were satisfied every day during the renovation.
Here is the things we did in each rooms-bathroom- maple cabinet with soft close for everything, Travertine tiles, Emporador dark marble,  glass accent tiles,  Granite countertop and Heated floor, and frameless glass shower. Closet- maple shelving system with back , maple drawers  with soft close for everything, baseboard . Bedroom- We raised the ceiling a foot to make it feel more spacious. We added large crown molding and rope light  Ceiling stereo system throughout the master suite-bedroom, closet and the bathroom.
I won't change a single thing from our master suite. We are so happy with our new master suite. It?s really nice to meet someone and actually build a relationship you can trust on and pass on that relationship to someone else. Thank you, Redstone for helping us through another journey to a better home.

Would highly recommend this crew!  This was my first construction project of any significance and it was very positive experience.  Here are some of the reasons I would welcome Redstone Builders back to my home for future projects:

  • Expectation setting:  they have a formal and documented process they follow for all building projects.  They are very clear that the length of time that it takes is how quickly the homeowner can make the decisions necessary.
  • Communication:  they were very good about providing updates as well as providing the plan for the upcoming days.  I often stopped at home during the workday to see how the project was going.  Whomever was at my home (painter, framer, etc.)  always stopped what they were working on to greet me and give me a report.  I had some questions the very first day of framing as I saw a nail sticking out of a piece of word and wasn't sure if that was good or bad.  I felt a little silly asking Nathan about it and he was thrilled I did.  He said I had to keep asking questions because good or bad, he didn't want any surprises for them or me.  In hind site, the single nail sticking out the hundreds of pieces of wood was not an issue to the quality of the construction.  However, Nathad has the framers redo it anyway because I raised the question.
  • Subcontractors:  they employee quality subcontractors.  Redstone values that relationship and it shows in the quality of the workers they bring into your home.
  • Experience:  they have years of experience with all types of project and I benefitted from that.  A good example is the allowances they set for carpet, etc.  I was able to stay within those allowance without feeling like I had to compromise anything.
  • Quality:  I am a very particular about my home to the smallest detail.  Their finished product met my expectations (no missed paint spots, etc.).
  • Professionalism:  As I stated above, this was my first significant home improvement project that involved a lot of $ for me.  Redstone helped me navigate through the many options for my basement to the choices that would be me the biggest benefit without abusing my budget.  Their estimate was $55K, I spent $58K because of some choices I made for lowvoltage, etc.  That is a great story in terms of staying in budget.

In summary, it was a positive experience.  We had a few glitches like when the low voltage person failed to hook up my new glass break sensors.  Redstone reacted immediately and resolve it quickly with no cost to me.

Dan and Bob were both a pleasure to work with throughout the process.  Extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of our basement project.  All subcontractors that we worked with were equally professional and knowledgeable.  Every time something wasn't exactly how we wanted it they made it perfect no matter the extra effort required.  Responsiveness to all request, questions, and issues was exceptional and they were very willing to give recommendations that saved money.  Attention to detail from the bid to the final walkthrough was superb.  Absolutely great for someone who hasn't done a big renovation project before!

Home remodeling is stressful and expensive project. So I was very thorough in selecting Redstone builders. I contacted 5-6 remodelers. Most of them were found via Angiest with exception of one remodeller. I contacted Redstone on Friday and I heard back from Bob Appert on Saturday. They(Bob and Nathan) scheduled a visit to my to provide an estimate. I received their estimate promptly. I spent nearly 10 weeks comparing various basement remodelers. I must have sent between 50-75 emails to Redstone and each of them was replied to promptly and accurately. Most of these emails were responded to by Nathan Chaika who works with Bob.

By the end of 10 weeks it was clear to me that Redstone offerred the best value. They were not the cheapest but quality of work, allowances and services included in their proposal made them better than everyone else.

They included interrior designer and an architect in their proposal at no additional cost. The Interior designer Evan took us to tiling, millwork, cabinet maker, plumbing supplies and other places needed to make our selections. She even brought samples to our home so we did not have drive to distant location to see the carpet. Evan was involved in making every single selection we had to make.

During the selection process it was clear to us that most of the allowances made by Redstone were very generous. We did not have to go over our allowances in most of our selections. There are many remodellers who that will show you a lower overall cost by providing meager allowances but Redstone was not one of them.

Dan Larson incharge of construction. He visited the site almost daily. Most of the contractors and employees of redstone were skilled and professional. Most of them had nothing but good things to say about this builder. Dan took great pains to make sure that every aspect of construction met our expectations. They were also very flexible in accomodating our change requests.

They worked with my AV contractor to get the prewiring done. Bob offerred to get us all the appliances at his cost. He saved us nearly 35% of the cost of appliances.

Another thing that was a pleasant surprise was the transparency. Their initial proposal had estimates for many different tasks like electrical work. When these tasks were completed by a contractor I was shown the actual invoice from the contractor.

They were very willing to give me the option to buy my own fixtures. I was getting a large number of recessed lights installed.
Their electrical contractor came in to look at my basement. Electrical fixture installation was scheduled a week from his visit. He did not get back with a quote for me in a timely manner. Redstone left many messages for him but he did not return their calls promptly. In the meantime I found cheaper lights online. Since the installation was already scheduled I did not want to cause delays. Due to late response from the electrical contractor I did not have time for standard shipping. The shipping cost went from $100 to $500. Bob called me and offerred to pay for half of the shipping costs.

Through out the construction I felt that customer satisfaction was their highest priority. If they to change schedule they did it. If they had to make changes to the fixtures they did it without any complaints. I wasn't charged for every change I made. By the end of the construction I trusted them completely. I began asking them to making changes without even asking for an estimate. I knew that they will charge me a fair price.

I had ordered doors that were special order. The door supplier shipped 2 incorrect doors. This led to 3 week delay but I don't hold Redstone responsible for it.

They don't build custom home theaters. I needed help in building the frame for projector screen, detachable panels around the screen and they were willing to do it at a reasonable price. Keith has a future in building more home theaters if he wants to do it.
After painting in theater was completed Dan told the painter to repaint again as he found flaws in the paint. I did not have to look for flaws as he did it on hour behalf.

After the basement remodel was complete Dan and Keith even helped me move my heavy gym equipment into my gym.
They helped me dispose cardboard boxes I had in my garage after the dumpster had left.

I must have sent them 500 emails and various topics like painting, sound proofing, insulation, appliances etc and all these email were responded to promptly.

I have worked with many contractors before but I have never come across a group of people who deliver such quality work at a reasonable price. If I ever build another home or do a remodeling project I will love to work with Redstone again.

The remodel was exactly what I wanted.  It took less time than I expected and the final cost was even a little less than what I expected.  And the whole project from beginning to end was relatively clean ---- for this big a project it was amazing.

Every sub-contractor was professional and gave positive feedback about working for Redstone Builders.

These rooms have made a huge difference in my home.  I have given "tours" of this new space and I always give Redstone Builders referrals to friends and neighbors.  Several people in my neighborhood have used them since I did my remodeling.

Redstone Builders are very professional.  They have had a lot of building experience and they seem to know all the sub- contractors so they get the best prices and workmanship - flooring, plumbing, appliances.....

We actually found Redstone by accident, we were on our way to look at model homes in Stone Mill Farms in Woodbury and saw a new model open house sign, we decide to stop and take a look. Upon entering Redstone's model home we knew right away that this was the home we wanted. Redstone's sales representative Nathan Chaika took the time to walk us through the home and point out details we would have missed.

After spending several hours with Nathan, my wife and I made the decision that we wanted Redstone to build our home. We did look at several other home builders and had experience in the past with a national builder and could not believe the value Redstone provided.

We set up our initial meeting with Bob Appert & Dan Larson of Redstone to discuss what we wanted in our new home. From the very beginning working with Bob & Dan was excellent. They were both available to answer any questions we had at anytime and review any details we wanted. They explained the details of their construction process and how our new home was going to exceed building standards.

When designing our house we wanted to highlight our kitchen and master bathroom, Redstone came through with flying colors. Our kitchen features a 48" dual fuel Viking range with 6 gas burners and griddle plate. Glass tile backsplash and granite counter top round out our dream kitchen

Of course our selection process was made much easier with the help of designer Evan Cohoe. Redstone actually provided us as part of their package a designer to help us make all our selections. Evan made sure we were going down a path that we would be happy with and made recommendations where needed.

I can not say this enough, the overall quality, design and completion our our project could not have gone any better. Redstone did everything they promised and exceed our expectations. The day we moved into our home it actually felt like a home and was comforting to be here from the very beginning.

We have already made the decision the Redstone will finish our basement. We will not go out for bids because we trust Bob & Dan and they will not lead us down a path that is not right for us.

Dan and Bob were great from the get-go.  Bob is the front office guy and he was always very on top of communicating with us on everything.  We (the owners and the guys) did a lot of front end prep and decision making, all of which was documented well on both sides, that minimized questions later.  They have a designer to help make those big decisions; she (Evan) was a great help in bringing us to good showrooms and giving honest feedback on choices.  All parties had great communication, presentation, and very fair pricing.  Once the project started Dan was on site nearly every day, making sure the workers were on top of everything.  Any lags or issues were resolved as quickly and smoothly as possible. These guys are very experienced and very dedicated to earning and keeping a good reputation for Redstone.  We were very happy with the entire process.

We needed the deck to be replaced. It is roughly 38 by 20. It is so big that we thought we may have a screened porch on one side so that the kids could enjoy without the bugs. And then we started to wonder what if we had a sunroom so that we can play all year instead. While we were at it, I thought I would really like to open up the kitchen to the family room. So, I went through Angie’s list and found the builders who got “A”s from every single person and categories for the kitchen and the deck. I found 2 companies for the kitchen and 2 other companies for the deck and the possible sunroom-because we didn’t know how much it’s going to cost to add a sunroom, we decided to ask them and give us a bid. I read every reviews of every one of them. Redstone was the one for the kitchen and the deck. I had the initial contact with Bob and until we decided which one we would go with, we had many dozens of e-mails back and forth. As someone mentioned “while we are at it,” is a deadly sentence in the renovation, we ended up deciding to make a guest room and a bathroom in our unfinished basement area because it would be “cheaper” to do it together while the people are already here working for us. We got a designer from Redstone for the kitchen so that companies can bid fairly on the same option. Redstone was little higher in the budget compared with the other company but there was an advantage because they do the deck also which can save some money. Their price for the deck was lower than other deck people. At that time, I already know that I wanted to go with Redstone because Bob was extremely responsive that I never even have to wait for a few hours. I thought there could be a lot of things going on during the renovation, it would be very important to have someone that you can really rely onto instead of just waiting. So, we decided to go with Redstone for the kitchen and the basement. The sunroom was still up in the air because of the price range- I made him give us bids 3 times on the sunroom-first rough bid, second bid on the draft’s man’s drawing, 3rd on the other deck company’s plan. While he didn’t even know he would get a job or not- let alone WE didn’t know if we would do it or not, he was extremely patient and responsive to every single question we had. By then, I was really hoping that he would come with the lowest bid so that we can go with him. And he did. We had many discussions before things really started. I told Bob he got the job on 5/28 and I told them all these need to be done by 7/15 so that I have a week to organize and decorate the room before my mom comes over from overseas. We had many more e-mails in a few days (because that’s what I prefer with my 2 little children and English being a second language). They started the work on Tuesday 6/1. The real impression starts here. Every single day, the workers made sure all the work area is covered and when they are done, they left the site clean-I wouldn’t pick up food and eat it but clean enough for 2 and 5 years old and 2 dogs(one of them is a blind). I was wondering why I only see Bob not Dan (co-owner) until then. When the work started I saw Dan more, a lot more-also wonderful. They deal with different things and work very efficiently. The other thing I loved about them is they have Maximum guaranteed price. They have allowance for things like countertop, appliances, kitchen sinks etc. and if we ended up buying one of them cheaper, then we are saving money that much. They are also really cool with what I can find online and give us honest advice. One evening, there was water leakage from the ceiling to the kitchen (a drop at a time in slow motion); I called Dan and left a message. The plumber came in 20 min and so did Dan. He made sure everything was fixed-even though the problem was the previous home owner stopped the leakage in a wrong way with the wrong pipe-Just little bit of jerking in the pipe broke the seal. They don’t compromise to save money on them-they make sure that WE are satisfied. They also have higher standard when they give you the bid as Bob said he rather gives higher bid and give you money back at the end than try to cheap out. I thought it could be the contractor’s excuse but he was telling the truth. Almost every single time, I asked for upgrade on certain thing, his answer has been “I think we can cover that”. We ended up actually renovating 8 rooms-kitchen, office (unfinished room to an office), add a full bathroom, sunroom (14 by18) going all the way down to create a guestroom underneath, new deck (18 by 20), powerder room and family room were painted and retexture on the ceiling. During the kitchen renovation, they left the stove, microwave and the fridge so that we can cook. Dan was at site every single time the new workers come in to make sure things are addressed right, done right and make sure the progress is easy on us. I was told about all the terrible stories and the stress you can get from the renovation but it wasn’t at all like that to us. Being gone about 11 days for a vacation during the renovation helped knowing that the work is under control by someone you can really trust. Things have been great. I’m very impressed with their work and personality. I cannot not mention Keith Pew-who does the demolition, frame work and pretty much everything else. He not only works very well but also a great person to be at the work site. You can tell that he cares. Every day, after work, he made sure all the work site is clean-vacuum and sweep with broom. He sometimes let the dogs out for us while I try to be out of site as much with 2 little ones. He really makes sure what is best for you and does it in a second-my 5 years old son wanted to invite his sons to his birthday party? Some people just do their best because that’s what they are, not because they want more jobs. I think Dan and Bob are like that. They are knowledgeable, honest and hardworking people in a very efficient manner. I felt like a renovation is a life in a miniature version and Dan and Bob are great parents in that small life making sure the children feel safe and guiding them to the right direction while let them make a lot of choices as long as it’s good and worthy. When there are unexpected surprises, Dan would say “It’s o.k. We can handle that.” If I say, I would like this, can we do this in our budget? Bob would say “We can cover it.”-In my mind, I feel like I’m saying “Mommy, may I have this?” and Bob was a generous mom. What about Keith? He has been a very nice babysitter making sure we are all taken care of while mom and dad are not always around. They support, listen and are so patient that I never had to go to the corner. I wish the very best to Redstone in the future.

There were several issues that came up with our particular project (not Redstone's fault), and Bob and Dan always worked really hard to give us a great end result. Their subcontractors always seemed very professional as well. The end result - our kitchen is amazing! Besides being absolutely beautiful, new layout totally changes how I can cook. I love it! Things we really liked: Bob and Dan value integrity. We were looking for a gc we could trust. Bob and Dan have a goal of getting you what you want rather than up-selling products. Quality of workmanship is excellent. No short-cuts. Price is very fair. Bob and Dan also will suggest places to try to save money - we appreciated this. Dan (who is involved in managing the project) is very detail oriented. I think that having an experienced person pick up on the small details made our project better. Bob and Dan are both very personable, and provide excellent customer service! Overall, we would recommend Redstone because they provide an excellent balance of quality, excellent customer service, integrity and value.

We interviewed 4 companies with A ratings on Angie's list and chose Redstone and am so glad. Where do I begin...these guys are great! They exceeded our expectations. They care so much about their work and the results and making their customers happy. We met with Bob initially and he gets you going with everything you need to decide (materials, layout, budget, etc.) to make your project what you want it to be while his partner Dan takes care of the job site and everything that goes with that. They are very detailed and dedicated to making the project go smoothly and are on top of everything; We even went on vacation for a week while they were working on our home! Bob made sure we stayed on budget and kept us up to speed. Dan was great about getting us a time line and making sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. The subs they used were also very professional, hardworking, and very good at what they do. I was surprised at all the comments about preferring to work with Redstone over other companies. They also helped us in so many other area. For example, we wanted to paint our entire interior so they found a painting company that would not only do the remodel painting but that would give us the best price to paint the whole interior. They had the electrician add new light fixtures throughout the house and prewire for future projects, and much more. They have come back to check things over and answer any questions after the work has been complete. They were a pleasure to work with and I can't wait to start our next project with them! I would recommend them to anyone looking for great contractors that are trustworthy, hardworking, priced competitively, and on top of their game!

The overall experience is excellent. One of the reason I selected Redstone is because of the good report they consistently received (key word- consistently) from their customers. I am very pleased with their service. I have no problem to recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality work. Bob and Dan are excellent partners; they work together as a team and they know what they are doing. As I talked to some of the subcontractors, they all said very nice thing about Redstone. They felt this is a really great company to work with. Bob and Dan know their trade and they have broad connection with people who share the same standard as they do. Here are some of the specifics- Hi standard- they really want the best for their customers. They would give multiple options but then respect our final decision. They were very patient to explain things over, often multiple times. At the end, you feel that you have two experts working along your side to make the best decision. Working relationship- very friendly, trustworthy and flexible. I guess once you are convinced that they have your best interest in mind, everything becomes very easy. What is more important in any of the working relationship? Go extra miles- yes, they helped us out in many different things which has little to do with the contract. They helped us to adjust sliding door, tightening rails and whole bunch other things. As long as the request is reasonable, they are willing to fit it in. One more thing, they called you back, send you e-mail right away. From communication point of view, they really understand the importance of keeping the customer informed. This also impressed us that they really stay on top of what is going on. Schedule- they take it seriously. They and their subcontractors worked together to meet the schedule. Yes, there was situation out of their control, but you know they have no heistation to put in extra hours to keep the schedule. Bottom line- I am very pleased with the whole experience. If you are looking for a company you can trust, results you feel great about, Bob and Dan obviously did their share to convince me. There were no surprises, they finished the job; cleaned up everything. Even came back couple weeks later to help us out with some work which has nothing to do with the contract (without charging us) What more can you say!

Absolutely great experience. I found Redstone through Angie's list and hired them after having interviewed a few others. This was a big project and I was a little nervous about giving it to a company I knew little about except what I had read on this forum. Well, let me just day that I am a completely satisfied customer. I won't go into every detail of the experience but let me just say that: 1 - they are honest and trustworthy (reason enough to hire them...); 2 - they have a great deal of experience doing both remodeling and new construction; 3 - they care about their clients being satisfied with the end product; 4 - they respond to calls or emails almost immediately; 5 - they are cost conscious and have good ideas of where you might be able to trim costs and still get what you want. Overall an excellent experience! Lastly, they have a sense of humor and are fun to work with! (do not underestimate the importance of that when you are involved in a major remodeling project.)

The experience was great,Dan Larson and Bob Appert meet with us during the initial planning stages and gave us a complete run down what to expect. We also gave them a very narrow window in which to work and they delivered. We got regular updates from Dan on what would be happening during the course of the project. They took care of everything including the scheduling, delivering of supplies, building permits and inspections. The crew that performed the work were and all very punctual and friendly and professional. The site was was keep impeccable and except for the builders sign in front of the house no none would have known that we were having our basement finished. There were no piles of building supplies stacked outside and no dumpster. They removed the rubble daily and keep everything well organized within the basement. They completed the job well within budget and time and the also under took additional tasks at no additional cost, which we very really appreciated.

This was probably the best experience I’ve had with a home improvement project. After meeting with me to get an explanation of what I wanted to do with our basement, Bob Appert returned a detailed proposal and a blueprint for the new bedroom. Bob was very responsive during the several weeks it took for me to ask questions, compare proposals from other vendors, etc. He answered my questions, updated the proposal when necessary, and provided a good list of references that I could contact. I had a clear understanding up-front of the cost for the project, as well as the cost for any upgrades I chose to make. The payment schedule was clearly defined in the contract. Once work started in late April, it moved along at a steady pace. Redstone did a fantastic job managing the project. Materials were delivered as they were needed, and placed where they needed to be. Dan Larson was on site to meet with sub-contractors and check on the work every day. When decisions had to be made Dan always gave me adequate lead time to make the decision. He kept me informed about the schedule for each week, so I’d know when someone would need access to the house. If I wanted to contact him he normally responded to a phone call or e-mail within an hour. During the project, Dan made some suggestions for improvements, most of which I decided to adopt. There wasn’t often any additional cost for the improvement – just an idea for a different (better) way to do something that we had discussed. The project finished on time, even though we were slow in selecting the flooring for the bedroom. Because we discussed the cost of the upgrades I requested before they were done, the final bill was not a surprise. The original estimate was right on, and the only additions were my upgrades. Even with the upgrades it was less than the other proposals I received. Redstone made this a very easy project for me. The sub-contractors they selected to participate in the project were great – very professional, competent, and respectful of our home. It was clear they all take pride in their work. The end product is better than we expected. Family and friends have commented on the quality of the work. I would not hesitate to use Redstone again for another project.

Owner Bob Appert promptly answered our emails and calls, and carefully reviewed our plans?asking many questions about what we wanted from the project. Redstone?s bid was a great value, detailed and easy to read. It was also customized to our wants and needs, which was lacking in other cookie-cutter bids. We met with Bob and owner Dan Larson several times to ask questions and always received prompt, direct and clear answers. These are experienced contractors who have worked on historical homes and new construction, so they have seen it all, and can give you examples of what works well. We were amazed that one of the lowest bids for our project was so well done?Redstone thought of everything, put it all down in black-and-white, and listed their guaranteed not-to-exceed price on page one. That?s hard to find these days. We asked for, and promptly received, lists of proposed subcontractors, all with good references. Everything?from excavation to foundation work to framing and electrical to drywall, paint and finish carpentry, has been high-quality professional work. Touch-up, change orders, fixture selection, all has been trouble-free and very well done. Though quality is excellent and price is very competitive, the highest compliments I would give this company are for flexibility and responsiveness. Dan and Bob are easy to reach quickly via email, phone or Blackberry with any question or concern, and always willing to talk through anything. Every size project involves many daily decisions, but there was never a hitch?just clear communication, open discussion and prompt agreement. Bob and Dan helpfully pointed out cost savings opportunities and inexpensive quality improvements. In fact, they saved us so much on our the main contract that we were able to spend our contingency funds on long-term maintenance items instead?saving us even more money over time. Redstone budgets very well; they were able to absorb minor overruns without charging us. They also build to high quality standards: for example, the flooring is rock-solid, built to a higher spec than residential code--built to last, not just to get done. They included several elements on our project that exceeded the plan spec (but not the budget). The work looks fantastic, and perfectly matches our 1920?s home. The oak trim and hardwood floors look so much like the original that several friends have asked where the new addition begins; it?s that good. All that remains on our project is stucco and landscaping when weather permits. Bob and Dan agreed to start construction with us on our schedule late last October, knowing that without a warm fall we?d have to finish this spring. The fall rain and snow proved them right, but the schedule helped our budgeting and we appreciate their flexibility. We recommend Redstone Builders wholeheartedly, and will call them first with any future projects. This is a great company whose quality and value are hard to beat.

We are very cost conscious. We wanted to complete the basement ourselves to save money. We found that the cost of having Redstone be the general contractor was only slightly more than the cost of individual trades up front. They were able to finish the project in 3 weeks as opposed to 6 months. They had great recommendations for finishing touches with the framing and drywall. They added multiple curved surfaces (no mark-ups) to better hide the ducts. They also were extremely flexible in answering questions even after the job was complete. Any warranty issues were quickly resolved (1-2 days) with no questions asked. By the time the project was completed, we easily saved thousands of dollars, months of frustration, and received a 10x higher quality project by working with Bob and Dan. Dan and Bob were very trustworthy and I knew I could trust their recommendations were aligned with our objectives, not their own personal agenda.

Workers were always on time, cleaned up every day, addressed issues in a very timely manner. All workers were polite and respectful of us and tried to keep disruption minimal when possible. Project was finished on time, to the day! Came back promptly to do any finishing touches and a few thing we added on.

Comments: Owner Bob Appert listened closely to what we wanted and was confident in what they could accomplish within our budget. The construction was overseen by owner Dan Larson. He was onsite daily and available to address any unforeseen issues that occurred. Opening walls and floors in a 25 year old house is bound to result in a few suprises. Dan seemed as committed to our home as he would have been to his own. The subs working in our home were experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly. Both Bob and Dan of Redstone Builders are very responsive to concerns. They stand behind their work.
