Painter Jim

Jim did a great job on my kitchen. However he has a short fuse. He will bail on you if there is a misunderstanding. Left before completion of job. Did one bedroom heat register and floor trim, however did not return my call when I requested him to return and apply another coat to floor trim which was needed.

Scraped loose paint from a storm door, door frame, and adjacent pilasters, and painted with exterior self-priming paint. Jim is terrific at removing loose paint. He painted everything well, except he painted the face of the door threshold, which should not have been painted, but that was a minor issue.

Jim arrived on his bicycle, so you need to provide the heavy stuff, such as paint, ladders, etc. When he says he will be at your property on a specific day and time, he shows up on time. When explaining what you want done, be detailed and specific. Do not assume something will be done unless you provided explicit instructions to do so. He is very good at removing loose paint and dirt, but he does not wash the surface to be painted. He did a good job on the painting, but did miss a few spots. If he is doing exterior painting and rain is in the forecast, he will stop your project and switch to an interior project at another property. If that happens, then you need to stay in contact with him to arrange his return to your project, otherwise he may forget and move on to another project. With Jim you are not going to get the kind of results you would expect from one of the larger, well known painting companies that sends a whole crew of people to your property, but if you just want good work at a good price, then Jim is worth a try.

Jim is an excellent painter. He prefers Diamond Vogel paint due to its thickness. Diamond Vogel gave me a discount due to Jim. Jim gave me a very fair price and came and knocked out an amazing job in a short work week. This is a guy who really goes after it with some intensity. He's a one man show and he stays focused while he works, only taking a short break for a drink of water. Jim is the kind of guy you want painting your property He's no nonsense and an interesting guy to be around a bit.

I needed a very high stairwell painted in a short turnaround timeframe. Jim came over the day before the job to scope it out and give me a very fair price, and we agreed on a time the next day. He was incredibly friendly with my children and dog, and highly professional. I also like that he biked or walked to my home (and carrying a 16 ft. ladder no less!) I appreciated that he is willing to take on small projects that other painters are not interested in doing because the price is not high enough. I only gave him a B on punctuality because he was about 15 mins late but again--he walked to my home carrying all of his gear! I will definitely use him again should I need interior painting done in the future.

He did a good job. Helped us pick out colors and used Diamond Vogel paint which I like. He really didn't take much time and I think it was a great price.

This is the fourth job Jim has done for me over the years. His work is excellent and fast and efficient. He knows I am picky so he goes out of his way to pay attention to detail. He respects the space and cleans up each day. Reliable, good work, with personality too.

Jim is a painter with philosophy, he did great work on our deck this summer. He has provided an excellent work! He is very easy to communicate, too. Compare to other estimates, the price we paid is around average or even less. His professional knowledge is something you can truly rely on; it went all well as he suggested. Also the paint materials he recommended is of high quality and we couldn't be any happier with the results. We have already asked him to work on our fence this Fall, too.
