MORR CONSTRUCTION SERVICES INC

The first job went o.k. It was in the upper part of the house. They completed two bathroom remodels and replaced windows. Their bidding process was fine, but their billing was a bit of a mess. I paid a little extra for one change order, which was not very well explained to me. Their accounting department didn't seem to know what what going , as they asked for payment, when I had already paid them. The overall project cost was a little high, but the Manager, Steve Swanson, did a fabulous job of picking out Master bedroom bath colors and materials. They forgot to hook up the heat vents, but quickly came to remedy this. The second project, for $107,000, was a disaster! I was living out of state when this basement remodel took place. Steve coordinated two well decommissions in the process, and to this day, still owes the well contractor approximately $7000.00. That contractor has placed a lien on my house and is presently going after Morr Construction in small claims court. Towards the project end, in December, of 2009, the excavating contractor, whose charge was $22,000, called to let me know that Morr Construction had not yet paid them a cent. I paid the Excavator, who did an amazing job of not only excavation, but also rock selection and construction of a rock wall. So, for my remaining $85,000 what I got from this basement remodel was: an average 3/4 bath with plastic surround (I provided the sink), a tankless water heater that malfunctioned to the point that I had to replace it with a standard one. Morr Construction, to their credit, did send out the plumbers they used to install it, Circle Plumbing, but this company admitted that this was the first one they had ever installed a tankless water heater and didn't know why it malfunctioned. I got 2 walls, drywalled. This job did not include any interior trim, but I did get two new glass doors coming into the basement. I got an interior window, rough cut into a passage way. I got two new basement exterior doors and one small window plus two exterior electrical boxes for lights . I got a cement pad outside the new basement door. Towards the end they sent me a few more change orders in an effort to get more money. Most of the sub contractors that Morr used to work on my house were individuals that they had never worked with, nor planned to worked with again. I have asked them several times for a detailed accounting of these jobs, but they have chosen to ignore me.

I did get a estimate in the mail indicating the price in detail but it did not indicate any type of design. I did call them about the design but they didn't respond to my questions regarding the design.

Excellent project management. Every person who worked was extremely professional and polite. Work was done beyond expectations and very quickly.

I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH MORR CONSTRUCTION! DAVID, MY PROJECT MANAGER, WORKED WITH ME BEFORE THE PROJECT BEGAN TO DESIGN THE SPACE AND MAKE ALL SELECTIONS (DOWN TO THE HINGES ON THE CABINET DOORS!). SO, WHEN THE PROJECT STARTED, ALL DECISIONS WERE ALREADY MADE AND THERE WERE VERY FEW SURPRISES. I HAD ALMOST DAILY CONTACT WITH MY SITE SUPERVISOR, STEVE, AND WE HAD SCHEDULED WEEKLY MEETINGS TO DISCUSS THE PROGRESS OF THE REMODEL. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND MORR TO ANYONE CONSIDERING A MAJOR REMODELING PROJECT!
