Life Time Fitness - Highland Park

My husband and I love Lifetime Highland Park! The staff is incredibly friendly, the facilities are always clean, it's huge and never feels over crowded. And the child center is truly amazing. They see my kids for an hour or so a few days a week and know their names, hobbies, etc. I love them. I've also used the spa for brow waxing and it's been great.

I’m happy with them. It’s a very nice facility. They keep it clean and the equipment is up to date and it’s a nice workout facility. The staff is very pleasant. They know who I am. They seem to be pleasant to people that are coming in and saying hello. It’s kind of a neighborhood gym so they get to know people.

It has been clean, 24 hour availability plenty of equipment, wide variety of equipment and there is no contract. One of the issues I have though, is that there are thefts (my husband had his shoes stolen simply because he left them outside of a locker in the winter as they were wet) and nothing is done about it.  

It's hard to feel comfortable in a "club" when the "club" members or staff are stealing.  

The other issue is that the gold membership seems to be dwindling and even with the price we pay, there is no pool or steam room and none nearby.  We would have to go to a "higher" payment level to get that, plus it would be farther away.  It would be better for us if the clubs were more uniform in what they offer.

 In other words, a Lifetime membership is not really a Lifetime membership.

Parking is an issue underground, but you can usually find parking across the street at Lund's for a 2 hour period.

The classes have been very good, though.

They have a variety of classes, yoga, workout equipment and personal trainers there. I like that they have a personal trainer who can individualize the workout towards what you need. I think that the quality of the equipment there is excellent as well as the quality of the classes. They also provide excellent customer service and support.

We have a family membership. Daycare is included in the monthly charges. Overall we are pretty satisfied. We have reached out to use their personal trainer but we've never received calls back. Their customer service hasn't met my expectations but my main purpose has been to use the gym to work out so we have been pretty satisfied. It is a solid gym and it is up to date and has good classes. The childcare is good. They are always open.

The services are affiliated and anybody can walk into the spa to get whatever they want.  The experience went very well.  I enjoy the atmosphere.  The technician is wonderful.  The only fact that I didn't enjoy was that they were out of the tea that they usually have, which I really like.  I really don't have any real complaints.  I would say that they are gentle.  They are very upfront of any possible issue that could arrive.  They are very easy to work with.  They are well-priced within the market place.

Very matter of fact about how much money it was costing me to quit.

The facilites are part of a full-service gym system: this site is a "bronze level" (lowest level) site in the Lifetime Fitness range of clubs. It lacks any aquatic facilities but was recently remodeled and looks pretty good on the inside. If you are thinking about joining Lifetime Fitness do some research into which level of membership you are getting. I joined well before this current rating system so I feel a bit miffed when I have to pay extra to go to other Lifetime facilities to use the pools - as I understand the situation, had I literally signed the membership paperwork at a different LifeTime location, I would have been "grandfathered in" to my low membership costs with access to much higher-level facilities included. That is why I gave the over-all rating a B rather than an A.

I enjoy going to this place! There have friendly employees that are willing to help you if you need it. There are different perks including drinks and food as well. I always recommend this company to my friends so that they can come and enjoy a great afternoon with me. The whole place is just really comfortable and affordable. I pay a monthly membership to them.

I am currently enrolled as a single monthly member at Lifetime Fitness. They have some nice gyms, like the one down in Eagan. However, they have let some of the locations like the one in Highland Park slip a little. If you are looking for a regular place to use a treadmill and some weights, Highland Park is fine. However, it pales in comparison to Eagan, Woodbury and some of the other new uber-facilities with full-size gymnasiums, swimming facilities and cafes. Rather than have the flexibility to drive all over and use the other places, it'd be nice if the pricing could reflect what they are providing at the location you visit most. I'm going to be dropping my membership soon because it isn't worth it right now for the location closest to me.

GREAT FACILITIES (CLUBS) BUT LOCATIONS NEAR ME DO NOT HAVE POOLS. THEIR PRICES CONTINUE TO INCREASE BUT OFFER NO INCREASED VALUE, I PLAN TO DROP MY MEMBERSHIP SOON.

A SMALL CLUB WITH VERY POLITE STAFF THAT KNOW YOUR NAME. EQUIPMENT IS A LITTLE OLD BUT STILL VERY FUNCTIONAL. THE PARKING SITUATION IS A LITTLE TOUGH - ONLY TWO HOURS FREE DURING BUSINESS HOURS. THAT CAN LIMIT WORKOUT TIME. SOME OF THE MANAGEMENT STAFF ARE UNRESPONSIVE TO ISSUE RESOLUTION, ADMITTING THEY DON'T CHECK THEIR VOICEMAIL REGULARLY. THIS IS THE ONLY NIT, AND I EXPECT IT TO BE ADDRESSED. BUT THE OVERALL LTF CHAIN PROVIDES GOOD VARIETY.

I HAVEN'T BEEN FOR A LONG TIME BUT I WAS HAPPY WITH THEN WHEN I WAS GOING (ABOUT 6 MONTHS OR SO)
