The painters worked quickly, did a nice job, and cleaned up well.

This company provided us with excellent customer service and quality of work. They were professional, reliable and their vast knowledge helped us make good decisions as to what and how we wanted the work to be done. There was daily communication with us on the progress of both projects.

They are great communicators and do what they say, when the say it. It was a pleasure to work with people that take their business and customers seriously. My wife and I never had to wonder what the status of our job was. Additionally, they were very flexible with the less than perfect timing of our cabinet builder. We will use Lake Area Painting when we are ready with our next project.

Noora and Grant arrived and began sanding soon after the insurance company OK'd the claim.  They tarped and made sure that all of our landscaping was protected before proceeding.  Right after the sanding and a clean up they started applying the stain to the staircase and the deck rail.

As soon as I selected the deck surface color, Jim Keenan and crew put down two wet on wet coats.  They came back on a Monday and checked the job and touched up as necessary.

This is the second time I have hired Jim and Lake Area Painting and Decorating.  I will use them again in the future.

They are responsive, reliable and operate with a high degree of integritiy.

Lake Area Painting did an excellent job on the exterior of our 47yo home. Jim's estimate was very thorough, informative, & accurate. They power washed everything, sanded some areas, removed mildew and loose paint, filled holes, set nails and applied primer before 2 coats of paint. The results were excellent! Norah and her crew kept us informed each day. They were exceptionally diligent workers, neat (no paint splatters) and cleaned up each day.I would highly recommend Lake Area Painting to anyone that wants a professional job that will last.

Our initial conversation with "LAPD" was comfortable and helpful. All the professional documents (more than I thought would be involved) were provided. The bid was clearly explained and understood. There were no surprises.
We were impressed with the attention to cleanliness, detail and attentiveness to our needs. The workers were always cheerful and easy to talk with. We were amazed at the amount of specialized equipment used in the work. The project took a little longer than we thought, about a week including a weekend where no work was done. Overall we are very pleased. We would certainly use them again if they are available.

Jim is a very professional and friendly owner and impressed us from the beginning with his estimating process. We had three different things completed in two different time periods. Our front door was our outdoor statement and was in sad shape. Jim did the work to restore our door and sidelights back to their original beauty. We even had someone ask us if we replaced our door. At the same time, Jim also refinished our patio door, which was weathered on the inside. He pointed out that at some point we'd have to replace our patio door frame due to the beginnings of wood rot - we appreciated that he pointed that out. 
The second job was considerably larger than the first - refinishing our maple kitchen cabinets, which are a signature in our home. After 16 years, however, they needed to be resurfaced. Matt was the project manager/primary worker and was as friendly and professional as Jim. After the cabinet frames were completed, we did notice that every surface had brush marks - we called Jim and he came over to assess the situation. He agreed the finish was not acceptable and he and the crew sanded off their layers of finish and started over. They used a different product and applicators and this new approach worked out great.
While the job took twice as long and had some bumps, the end result is that we have spectacular kitchen cabinets again. Problems happen sometimes and this company managed through the issues with professionalism and ensured both we and they were happy with the end result. Despite those bumps, we would recommend them and if we have a need, use them again. Very pleasant to work with and beautiful work.

Ceilings look great...There was an issue with ceilings and walls when tape and plastic were removed.  We called and explained the issue.  We were told someone would come back and fix the wall and ceilings... All issues were resolved to our satisfaction.

Jim Keenan came out, went over the entire proposal and approximate start date.
Introduced to Norah, his project manager who went over everything that she and her crew would be doing, and the protection they would afford my house and plantings. The project started during our heat wave in late August, but as the temps reached near 100 degrees, they persevered and got everything ready for the stain and sealant.  Jim Keenan showed me options on sealant by Rymar and the colors they offered.  He even put three different ones on the newly sanded surface to choose from.  The Redwood surface is beautiful, showing the soft Redwood color tones.  I really appreciate him taking the time to help me with the color selection, and changing me from CWF UV5 to Rymar products.  The crew cleaned everything up promptly.  Our deck looks terrific and new, the stain matched perfectly to the tripm on our home.

We were looking for a quality painter that could remove our popcorn ceiling.  I talked to a number of people at work about painters and Lake Area Painting and Decorating (LAPD) was recommended by more than one person.  We met with Jim Keenan who did a great job of describing the process and options. The job took about 3 weeks to complete and we are very happy with the results.

Painters came as scheduled. They cleaned up each day's work area.  Created minimal impact on our every day living by strategically planning out daily paint tasks. Not only did they complete on time, but added in a few extras upon request, some at no extra charge. Our experience with them was exceptional. Their work was superior.

Did a very professional and complete job of estimating project...the best of 3 bids.  They came out with a stain sample before starting to make sure it was the color we wanted.

The weather was perfect so they were able to finish the job in 2 1/2 days.  They are very careful and do a great job of covering plants and other areas and masking all windows, etc.  They make sure you are satisfied before leaving.

John was here for part of two days.  He had a detailed checklist that he completed as he went.  He communicated clearly, was careful with the house around the work area, and the finished job was excellent.

I liked our cabinet style but they were 26 years old and light wood and had numerous stains over time, especially on the cabinet fronts over the stove and by the sink where heat and water had deteriorated the varnish.
I was almost embarrassed to get an estimate because they looked so bad.  But they assured me that they could make them look new again. It didn't seem possible, but they wrote on the estimate "will make look new"....and it worked.
The job took three days. When I saw how good the cabinets were looking I had them also restore two doors in the kitchen.
They covered counters and appliances with plastic, so no problems with stains.
Love the fresh look.
Note:  they do offer a winter/holiday discount. I waited until December so I could get the lower price.

Lake Area Painting & Decorating repaired and painted our home in 2008.It has been over four years and our home looks like it did on the day they finished painting it.I was hoping for and expecting excellent results, I have not been disappointed.I am writting this post because I just received a call (8/28/2012)  from Jim Keenan (owner) asking if we were still pleased.It's been 4 years and a contractor calls us back to see if we are still happy --NOW THAT IS SERVICE!I would recommend Jim Keenan and the crew at Lake Area Painting to all my friends and family.

Jim the owner and his employee showed up on time and spent about a half hour going over the work I wanted done. Than Jim left and his employee started the work. First the employee went over some paper-work with me and gave me a card to give him upon leaving if I was happy with the work. Than he made sure to lay down and hang tarps in order to avoid any spill over problems. He appeared to be very careful with everything he did. Jim stopped by several times during the day to make sure everything was progressing as planned. Although these were small areas I would for sure employ this company to do even big jobs in the future. And I would also refer my friends to this company. The employee also made sure to clean upp all his work areas before leaving!

They are very professional from the first visit to completion of the job.
