HE came to my home to install light fixtures including a bath fan. The technician was kind and seemed like a genuinely good person. However, he was extremely rushed to complete the jobs in as little time as possible. The result was damage to my drywall, damage to the fixture from cutting corners in a rush, sloppy installation, and a huge mess of drywall, dust, trash and various debris. The technician did not have a shop vac to clean up so I did it myself. All this work for extremely high hourly rates. HE offered to send someone else back to my home, but I don't have confidence that individual would have better training. I'm not a person who normally writes reviews. I wish the technician well, but some serious and basic training is needed. I'd never hire HE again.
Response from Highland Electric
"Sorry to hear that we were unable to meet your expectations when replacing your bathroom fan. Highland Electric takes pride in the service we provide and would have made it right if given the opportunity."

Had a kitchen roughed in through HE. The walls were all opened up and there was existing conduit to go off of if necessary. We also requested can light installation and electric run to where the island would be installed. There was attic access right above the kitchen so that was used rather than going through the basement ceiling. After three days of who knows what, the tech needed an additional tech to come help him finish on the fourth. (You are charged essentially double when another tech comes out). After four days of work on what several other electricians told me they could have done in two days, I was left disappointed. The installer was a fantastic guy, but what I was left with for what I paid was absolutely mind blowing. The can lights were installed incorrectly as to the distance we requested and had to be redone and patched on my own. The wires were never run for power to the island. There was a circuit with an open ground that I had to fix myself. One of the boxes that was supposed to be an outlet had so many wires running through it that there was no space to even install outlets, it will have to be a blank cover plate. For some reason the electrical in the adjacent living room/garage had no power and had to be remedied. There was scrap wire scattered all throughout the attic space. There was no way I was going to have HE come back out to fix these problems and charge me for another day or two of work, so I had friends, family, and other electricians help me fix all of the issues. Everyone I spoke to at the company was friendly, but ultimately I only received a 10% discount and my credit card fee waived off of a whopping $4,000 bill. I had to spend significantly more than that discount just to fix all the issues myself. HE is probably a great company as others have had good experiences, but I would recommend looking elsewhere as it's not worth the risk.

Very good technician completed tasks quickly and answered questions about future work I'm considering. Added an outside outlet without being requested that I appreciate. Called office with questions before installation and they were very responsive

It was a pretty big project. They are very good. They have good reviews, and that is why we chose them. It's excellent. I would recommend them. It took 2 days for the work to be completed. One worker came out to complete the work. I can't tell you what he did well, because I am not an electrician. I can't tell you what he did well or what he did just adequately for his work. We have had a very good with them. They do very good work. They are known for that. They've been on for many years now. I think for almost 60 years now, They are a very established company. They use union workers, which we prefer. They are very skilled.

The work was generally acceptable, thought they ultimately didn't finish the job. They quoted the job at under $1000 and submitted a bill for $2600. The scope of work did not change and other electricians were shocked to find out how much the charged. It was a very simple job. When I disputed the bill, they contracted the electrical inspector and tried to have my house condemned. When I paid them with a check, they tried to cash it at my bank (where they didn't have an account) only to find out that the bank won't give a corporation cash if they don't have an account. Then they demanded i immediately drive down and give them cash or they would have the inspector continue to condemn the property . Then they demanded another $600 to finish one final outlet. I hired another electrical contractor who finished and said it was the least professional thing he'd seen in his 20 years of business. I would not hire these guys again.

What a relief to find a neighborhood household service where I get the same experienced repairman regularly? Though he was late, he apologized and wore "booties" when doing the work in my upstairs with no complaints. When I told him I wanted to keep an antique fixture, he offered to take it to the local lighting repair shop and bring it back and install it. He was very quick, and the work was done well.

In short - they were amazing; we needed emergency service. From the woman who took my call at 7am to Rick, our technician, who was at our house within the hour. Rick was everything you would expect from a professional - very polite and he explained what he was seeing. In the end, he sealed the source where the condensation was leaking in and replaced our fuse. They have gained a customer for life.

Mike Ryan came out to do the estimate. Punctual, very pleasant guy, very knowledgeable. He understood the scope of the entire project and offered good suggestions on how I might complete phase two (wiring in 100Amp service to my garage) myself.
Pricing was great in part due to a Valentines Day promo Highland had going. Read some positive reviews online so went with Highland.
No regrets. Steve the electrician also showed up on time and went right to work. He was done in a day (in the time estimated by both Mike and Steve). The wiring was real clean and passed inspection with no issues.
I had one concern with how the pvc conduit come out of the meter socket and attached to the house. When I brought it to Mikes attention he came right out to look it over and we resolved the issue with no concerns.

It was a smooth experience. They were able to schedule us within a day or two and arrived on time. They were able to use space in our existing breaker box so the total came in under the estimate, which was nice. Everything is working great!

During one of this summer's terrible storms, a huge willow tree in my backyard uprooted and fell. It took out the electrical and phone wires between the pole and my house and broke the service mast. This has to be repaired before the electric company can restore service.
I called 7-8 electricians with good ratings on Angie's List. Most of them did not call me back. One wasn't even an electrician so I don't know why he was on the list. A few others were booked. So I went to the old fashioned phone book and called the biggest electrician firm I could find. Highland Electric sent a man out the next day, and he did the work with the tree still lying on all the wires. Nothing bothered this electrician; he had seen it all. He patiently answered all my questions about the process of getting my electricity restored. I had a follow up question the next day, and someone in the office was able to answer it for me right away.
I don't know if they were expensive or not. After a weekend without power and no returned calls, I would have paid almost anything to have my power restored.

Not much of a story. We called them, they had almost immediate availability, were very friendly and professional. Even provided some (unofficial) advice on some gas issues we were having. Will definitely use them in the future.

Venting was done by a subcontractor. We came home to find the front door of our home wide open and a mess in our bathroom. I was extremely disappointed and will never use the company again.

She called HE and one guy came out and messed around for a day and said it was gremlins. The next day another guy came out a the 2 of them fumbled around until they figured out a wire in the light switch in the bathroom was loose. 2 days and $500 to tighten a lose wire.

My experience with Highland Electric was good. They are very knowledgeable, neat, and professional. The workmanship was great however their price was a little higher than some others. I would probably shop around a little more before using them again in the future.

They came out and took care of what I needed. The people that came out were easy to work with and I think the price was reasonable.
