"thank you for your review . I take in many kinds of shoe repairs from small seam sewing to rebuilding boots from inside out. I dont have the time to have a system of doing a certain kind of work sooner than another. I m a one man shop, and do what I am able to do. I told you this when you came in. Thank you for the A for quality. I always put my quality first. You called and asked if I could do them sooner. You had your ticket number, which is the best thing- because I know my system, was able to find them right away push them ahead into the jobs I was already doing. I now offer a reservation idea to help customes. I Have always had prepayment, and to make a reservation means, you prepay, but are able to still take home to wear*depends on the shoes. This keeps me with less shoes, and you can keep your shoes to wear, til I call you to come in."
The owner seemed to know a lot about what the problem was and the shortcuts others had used to repair them. It seemed that he would do a good job and the price was also reasonable ('too cheap' was my first reaction). When he told me that the shoes wouldn't be ready for over a month-and-a-half I was not happy since I use my shoes for work, but I happened to be going on vacation for some of the time and thought I could make it work without them.
The shoes actually took a little bit longer to fix, but he called me that week to let me know that they wouldn't be done yet. He did get them done within a week of the due date and called me again when they were done. I just got them back so I can't speak to the longevity of the repairs, but they look great and appear to have had a quality repair job.
"This case was a bit frustrating. I AM always busy, 2 reason's. No shoe shops left, and a lot more work has come my way. I take time to explain my hours, and reasons for my schedule*(if asked.) I am older, and can't do as much work quicker. When customer came to pick up his shoes, he saw me get into my car, to leave (.I wasalready 2 hours late past hours, and was about to be late to an imporant birthday .) I was a bit frustrated, and asked for his ticket. I Did realize I didn't have them done, and told him I will get them doNE as soon as I could. I CALLED him when they were finished. I did the best I could, but realize my interaction with my customer could have been better. I have to keep trying to be better."
"Thank you!"
"THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING MY SHOP I TRY TO FIX AS MANY THINGS AS POSSIBLE, HOWEVER LUGGAGE IS HARDER AND MORE EXPENSIVE TO GET PARTS FOR, BECAUSE I HAVE TO ORDER MUTIPLE PARTS JUST TO DO ONE REPAIR. BECAUSE I DON''T DO WHILE YOU WAIT REPAIRS, THIS ALSO CAUSES PROBLEMS, BECAUSE I USUALLY ORDER THE PARTS PER JOB TO KEEP INVENTORY COSTS DOWN, AND THIS CAUSES SOME FRUSTRATION FROM CUSTOMERS WHO DON''T UNDERSTAND THE WAY I NEED TO RUN A VERY SMALL BUSINESS. ALSO THERE IS ONLY ONE LUGGAGE REPAIR SHOP IN TOWN, AND THAT LIMITS PLACES THAT PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS CAN GO TO. GENE"
"THANK YOU, I HAVE BEEN IN THE SHOE REPAIR BUSINESS FOR 35 YEARS, 15 AS AN OWNER, AND 10 YEARS AGO I WAS FORCED TO CHANGE MY WAY OF BUSINESS BECAUSE OF HEALTH CONCERNS, BECAUSE I HAD A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT, AND I HAVE HAD SOME SET BACKS. I HAVE DECIDED TO WORK AS LONG AS I WILL BE ABLE, BY LIMITING MY HOURS FIRST OF ALL. THIS AUTOMATICALLY CAUSES WORK TO BE PROMISED LONGER THAN SOME PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS MAY HAVE BEEN USED TO EXPECT. I TRY TO MAKE UP FOR THIS BY PROVIDING THE BEST REPAIRS THAT MONEY CAN BUY. GENE"
