GREAT! My Apple laptop froze: cursor disappeared, keys were inoperable, didn't appear to charge, nothing. I tried to troubleshoot by going online but none of the suggestions worked. I went to Nano and, within minutes, everything was working. Nano is am amazing business/resource! Great customer service. I have gone there with computer issues for years. You can simply walk in and, most times, get your problem solved on the spot. I highly recommend Nano and plan to continue to rely on them in the future.

While on vacation, we dropped the laptop and shattered the screen. We were worried about preserving the data on the laptop. Nanosytems (No longer called General Nanosystems) was able to assure us that all the data was still intact. During the phone call to set up the appointment, he got the information he needed to order a new screen. He stayed in touch with us regarding the delivery time and repair of the screen and interrupted a training session to make sure all our systems were up and running again. The cost was less than we expected. This place is a hole-in-the-wall, but the man who helped us was very professional, and articulate about what had happened and what he could do to fix it.

We have used them several times.  They will give you basically a free estimate and were up front whether or not it is worth repairing it.  The pricing they have is very reasonable and they are very quick.  They build computer systems and repairs.  They are one of the best in town and I wouldn't go anywhere else.  You don't feel intimidated about going in there.  This is the place that even computer geeks take their computers to have them worked on.

Really well. I'd been putting off replacing an old Dell that long ago passed the point where you need to quit upgrading it and just get a new one.  I had purchased memory sticks for the Dell from these guys several years back so I was familiar with who and where they are.  Doing the research for the new machine I added these guys into the mix along with internet providers like Newegg and local stores like Sams, Costco, Best Buy, etc.

It occurred to me during the search that everybody pretty much had the same products, the same prices, the same lack of knowledge, and really terrible service options across the board.  I remembered all the time I've spent on technical support lines talking to someone in a foreign country, waiting for a service guy to show up with parts, or spending days on hold trying to sort out some customer service issue and wished there was an alternative.  Also in my search I was having trouble finding a machine with the mix of processor, graphics, and storage I was looking for.  It seemed with everything I looked at I was compromising my needs for what Best Buy or Costco had on the shelf, and it wasn't working out.  GNS on the other hand, custom builds machines to what you want and has 'ready-to-go' units in popular configurations.  I was able to find a 'ready-to-go' one that was close to what I was looking for, and had them add a few pieces of additional equipment I needed; all without hassle or complications.  So I got exactly what I wanted, at a fair price, and I picked it up the next day.  Bingo!

Be warned though that GNS is not a fancy place, and it's a little bit hard to find on University Ave.  In my estimation the effort spent in searching them out and their lack of a big beautiful store is more than compensated for by the real reason why you are there.  You can tell just by walking into the place that you're in a real computer shop where they not only build and sell, but actually know what they're doing and service units on the spot (no shipping to some depot somewhere).  I worked via email and on the phone with Patrick who had all the answers and met my every expectation.  I don't miss the traditional stores a bit and am thrilled with my new pc.

I took in our laptop computer thinking that the disc drive needed replacement, since it no longer would read CD's or DVD's. I opted to wait and have the computer diagnosed and repaired on the spot. The shop was busy, but I was greeted and told it would be a few minutes wait. A pleasant young man - I think his name was Bryce or Brian - came over and listened to my explanation. He verified that the disc player did not work. He then instaled a test disc drive, but the computer would not recognize it. He tried a new disc drive, but after a long wait, the computer did not recognize it either. He conferred with his manager and was able to diagnose a software issue. After fixing the software issue, the disc drive worked. He installed the original drive, which also worked - problem solved! In all, the process took about an hour, and I was pleasantly surprised when the tech suggested $20.00 for the cost of the repair. I gladly accepted, and the computer has worked just fine ever since.

They are cheap and they are good. They are the best in the Twin Cities. They are a hole in the wall and run by a bunch of geeks. Everyone I know that uses them are happy with their service. They are friendly group of males and knowledgeable. I have bought at least 2 or 3 computers there. Their prices are competitive. They are usually cheaper than anyone else.

They are friendly, really understand computer problems, and I will go back there, and recommend it highly. They have several counters where they were working on others with PCs they'd just brought in. None of that "Here's a receipt, call us in a week" that I've had other places. Fixed it quickly and fully. And answered a lot of questions I've had for a long time.

After years of use, my desktop had become very slow, and I suspected it was infected with a virus. Following a couple of half-hearted attempts to remedy it myself, I brought it in to the shop. Knowing it may need to have the operating systemt unistalled and reinstalled, I called first. They were careful to explain that they don't do the backup, they would help provide support over the phone if needed but backup needed to be done before bringing it in. When I brought it in, a technician took a quick look and explained the options of reinstall vs. virus removal services. I went with the reinstall (I had the operating system discs). They told me it would be ready in 1-4 days, and it was done in 2 days. They intalled Avast virus protection as well, but be aware it is the free trial subscription version. The computer has worked great since.

We were about ready to give up on our old PC, which had been freezing and crashing frequently. I brought it in on a busy day, and they worked on it while I waited. They replaced the DVD drive, upgraded the memory, and took the time to download several free clean up programs and give me instructions on how to run them. The technician also said I should call if I had trouble, and he would walk me through the process over the phone. I completed the clean up at home with no trouble, and everything works great.

Within five minutes when I walk in with my computer they have a technician assigned to repair my computer. They usually have my unit repaired within a few minutes. I can't say enough good things about them. Many times if it is a silly mistake on my part, they don't even charge me. I continually use them.

The folks at General Nanosystems are tops. This is the way small business is supposed to work, and why they beat the big-box retailers in terms of service. I've been a Nanosystems customer for 8 years now, and I've yet to have anything but an A+ experience in terms of service. I've been seeing the same faces behind the counter over a lot of years, meaning their turnover is low and that's a sign they know how to keep their employees happy. Happy employees treat customers well. Their prices are usually only, at most, a small percentage above ebay or other e-retailers' prices, and their technical knowledge and user-friendly service far outweighs the price difference in most cases. I recommend them to anyone from knowledgeable DIY-ers like myself to complete technophobes. General Nanosystems will take good care of you no matter what you need.

I got a decent computer at a fair price...but they put it inside an ENORMOUS case. I didn't know they even made computer cases this big anymore. I'm not sure if I got this case because I didn't specify a case size, or because there was something I wanted included (the 3 1/2" floppy drive?) that necessitated it, or what. I wish they'd warned me; it's really inconveniently large. Also, when I picked up my computer, they forgot to include the keyboard I'd ordered. They were very apologetic about that when I called, and shipped it to me free so I didn't have to drive back over to pick it up. I do appreciate the fact that I could support a local business, and I knew that if it was DOA I could literally return it. I also like the fact that I could get a completely clean computer and install the OS and software from scratch myself.

Older computer was getting slow on responses. Took in for upgrade to bigger hard drive (40GB to 250GB) and more memory (256MB to 1GB). Took about 25 minutes from the time I went in the door until I left. Very professional and fast service. I have purchased several computers from them and would not even consider going any other place. They can't be beat for customer service, knowledge, prices.

I brought them my parts list, which was based on what I knew they had in stock through their website, and they assembled the computer for me. It was completed in two days and I picked it up. The project cost represents hardware only; I bought the operating system, software applications, and hardware peripherals separately from other sources.

I am extremely satisfied with the service I received. This was the second place I took my computer to for repair: The first one left me with more problems than I began with. The service people were all polite and helpful. The only downside was they were backed up on repairs and the repair took two weeks. In their favor, they warned me it would take that long and the work was completed when they promised it.

I ordered a new computer from them. I was still uncertain how to modify it to serve as a repository for our digital media. I ordered with one large hard drive and one memory chip. I decided to use RAID features and went to get a second drive and decided on more memory. I asked the sales technician if the memory I was getting was the same as in the system so that I might not run into compatibility issues. He said yes. He was wrong. I had to go back to exchange memory. I had decided to get a third drive so it wasn't so bad, but an extra trip across town is really kinda annoying. Sometimes they are really busy and though they have always been helpful, ask to see things for yourself and double check on certain facts - like memory sticks being the same.

I would highly recommend this company. I've used this them 4 or 5 times in the last couple of years and I've always been impressed with the technician's competency, the short turnaround on repairs and the costs which were much lower that what I had expected.
