He started a week ago with the formwork - first doing the sidebars (siderunners) and pouring those the next day. Fine so far, and after the sidebars had cured for several days he came back to form up the steps. I was gone at the time, but when I came home that evening I could see that the formwork for the steps was not level or consistent. Before they pored the steps the next morning I spoke with Gallagher and asked him to correct the formwork error. He assured me that it would all be done right.
When I returned home that afternoon (8/17/2015) I saw immediately that he had not followed my request to correctly place the formwork. The steps are a disaster from bottom to top. I wish I could attach pictures with this review, but I'll try to explain this fiasco.
The steps as a whole should be perpendicular to the sidewalk, which means that thee facing of the steps should parallel the sidewalk. The facing of the first step is 13.5" from the sidewalk on the left side and 12.5" from the sidewalk on the right side, there is a slope of .5" from left to right, the left side of the step is 1" BELOW the sidebar while the right side is 1.25" ABOVE the side bar. Both the second and third steps are bowed outward, which means that either the forms were bowed or came loose. The third step had a 7/8" outward bow. The finished surface is shoody and looked like something you might expect on a barn floor - only pictures can show poor his workmanship was.
Apart from that, they splattered concrete on different areas of the yard, and poured concrete water (used in cleaning tools) into the gutter, which isn't the way to dispose of it.
All in all, there isn't one part of Gallagher's work that was of quality craftsmanship. I'm not sure what to do next, but I won't pay him for this work, nor would I trust him to fix it - if he couldn't get it right on the first try there is no reason to expect he would do better the second time around.

. They were good. I have no complaints. They were fast and did a good job. They were able to receive instructions that were very vague and I told them to make it look nice and they did that. Their price was more than reasonable. Their professionalism was high. He was friendly. He was a neighborhood guy. He did a fine job. I would use them in the future.

JIM GALLAGHER IS A GREAT GUY TO WORK WITH. WE HAVE WORKED WITH HIM IN THE PAST, AND DID A GREAT JOB ON THE FOUNDATION FOR OUR HOUSE ADDITION. HE WASN'T QUITE AS RESPONSIVE AS OUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE ON OUR MOST RECENT PROJECT, BUT HE DOES QUALITY WORK AT A GREAT PRICE. THE SLAB AND THE APRON TURNED OUT BEAUTIFULLY WITH ATTENTION TO CLEAN UP AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETE, AND HE GOT THE JOB DONE WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. ON OUR PAST PROJECT, HIS EXCAVATION CREW DID AN ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL JOB OF CAREFULLY EXCAVATING AROUND A TREE WE WERE TRYING TO SAVE FROM STRESS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION.

GALLAGHER CONCRETE DID A SUPERB JOB FROM BIDDING TO COMPLETION. JIM GALLAGHER, THE OWNER, IS WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH AND WAS ACTIVELY INVOLVED DURING THE ENTIRE PROCESS. THE CREW SHOWED UP AT 8 AM, PRECISELY WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY COMPLETED THE WORK EFFICIENTLY AND CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. THEIR PRICING WAS COMPETITIVE TO THE TWO OTHER BIDS WE GOT ON THE JOB. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES, AND WILL DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN.
