Paul is a consummate professional, and went above and beyond what was required and expected.  He stayed in constant contact during the process, as well as did additional things for no charge (finishing the new dryer vent that I had started) as well as giving me information for someone to contact regarding a potential dryer repair.  I would not hesitate to contact him again for additional plumbing work.

Paul is very skilled and trustworthy.  We'd been quoted a pretty high figure by Culligan for a new system and install.  Paul recommended a locally-made softener system and came in well under the Culligan quote.  He took time to explain the difference between systems and what we'd need to have better water quality at our house.  I always appreciate the background he provides and context so you feel like you're making a wise/informed decision.  This is a rare quality!  He had the new system in within hours, hauled away the old and our water is fantastic since!  It's not always easy to find people to trust to work in your home AND give you a fair price...Paul does those things.

Paul called me back the same day and came out to install the dishwasher the next day, even though he had a personal obligation that day. He installed the dishwasher but knew he needed more time to install the water line for the ice maker. He graciously left without taking any payment that day with a promise that he would come back the following week to finish the water line and work on the kitchen sink plumbing.
He came back the following week to install the water line and redo the plumbing under the kitchen sink. It was a difficult job due to the way our plumbing was laid out in our house.
He spent over four hours at my home carefully installing the dishwasher and water line and fixing all the problems. He is a very friendly and cool person, which is nice when you have someone working in your home. He suggested good restaurants in the area since I just moved to MN from WI, and also gave me info for other contractors we needed.
While he was here, Paul checked out a wet spot in our crawlspace to make sure it wasn't a plumbing issue. He also inspected all toilets in our home (at my request and for no charge) to give his opinion on their condition. They were all 30 years old and he suggested that one had to be replaced but the other two were ok. No sales pitch. I feel the price was fair for the amount of work he did. I will definitely hire again.

We called 10 different plumbers from Angies list, but he was the only one who was able to come the same day. Called at 9am and he here by noon. The replacement part was expensive and it took three hours to replace due to the cramped utilities closet. He was very sociable and helpful. He explained every part of the price to us and it seemed reasonable. We would definitely call him again - hopefully we won't have to.

What seemed like a simple task, turned into a 3 hour project. He was professional but extremely frustrated. Only after he had left did my wife discover the temperature was set for hot to Hotter while taking a shower. Not only did she get a clean, she got sanitized. We had quite a laugh. I did get him to come back Saturday and fix the temperature. I would consider hiring again due to the fact that he followed through and completed the job. He did not charge me for 3-4 hours worth of work it took him to complete the job.

I noticed some water on the floor, near the water heater, and called three plumbing companies from the list. Dan was the first to respond, and came out early the next day.

He suggested a 50-gallon unit to replace the 40-gallon one that was making a slow leak on the floor. I opted for that, which added to the price. He understood my concern that the replacement heater not be too tall or wide for the space, and ended up removing a superfluous sheet of 3/4 inch plywood that the old heater was sitting on. Dan also rotated the position of the new heater from where the old one had been, so that the controls were more visible, eliminating the need for me to crawl around. One factor adding to the price is that he replaced flexible hosing going into the tank with copper lines, which (unlike the flexible hoses) were up to code. He also installed a new valve for the heater, to replace one that was not up to code.

I also used the practice of "while we're at it." There was not a valve (as required by code) on the inside of the house water meter. He installed one (at my request). This required cutting some pipe and putting in a new valve. He also replaced some washers in the valves in the laundry room washtub, and cleaned out a nasty drain blockage in one of the bathrooms. Finally, he shut off an outside faucet and gave me his opinion of what needed to be done with it--a major job that I will postpone until later. The only thing I thought was odd is that his practice (apparently) is to not give a detailed invoice (parts list, etc.) unless requested. I figured that he did what I asked for and I owed him the money, so a simple invoice was fine.

He was pleasant and quite willing to explain what and why he was doing, and treated both me and my preschool child with respect.

The price seems high, but I did not price it out with other companies--hence, the "B," which for all I know should be something else.

I agree with Dan - spend a bit of extra money and have an experienced plumber like Dan choose and install your water heater (instead of having the big box stores do it for you.) He did great work and I'm confident we received excellent service and a high quality water heater installed the correct way.

Paul was able to schedule my work a few days after I called him. He was on time and highly professional. I had him repair the bathroom faucets from the master and install them in the kids bathroom. Then he installed new faucets in the master and in the guest bathroom. He ran into a few minor issues which he handled and explained. He had to replace the water shut offs below the sinks and he installed new supply hoses as well. Everything worked great. It seemed a bit more then I expected to pay, but I had not hired a plumber in quite a while and it did not seem unreasonable. I called him a second time when I was sure my garbage disposer was beyond repair and I needed to have a supply line in the basement rerouted so I could improve an airduct supply problem. He was able to clear the disposal of something I could not find, even when he showed me with a flashlight. Then he suspected the airduct I was going to rebuild didn't really supply the bedroom I thought it did. He figured out where it went (the kitchen) and eliminated the need for him to reroute the supply lines. It was an HVAC professional who told me that was the problem. I will definitely call him again.

Paul was very responsive...in addition to fixing the problem with the toilet, he checked my water pressure in the basement. He also offered suggestions to some of my other issues.

Excellent transaction. Paul was hired by a neighbor and I asked him if he would be interested in doing a water heater job and he advised he'd comer over later in the day to provide an estimate. He reviewed the current heater and we talked about replacing it with a similar tank model or tankless. He was clear on his experience installing both options and what I could expect with each; we decided to replace current heater with same 40 gallon tank heater. Paul also noted two things: the water heater and furnace were both in a rather small area with source of no fresh air. Second, the exhaust from the water heater entered my chimney into a separate entry than my furnace. Paul recommended we use the entry from the furnace as it was lined and would reduce moisture in the chimney. I agreed to both suggestions. On the day scheduled, Paul arrived on time, reviewed the work and began. He placed runners on the carpet to prevent damage. He advised that the new water heater would be delivered by another person and that person arrived as scheduled with the new water heater and took the old in exchange; no interaction was needed on my part for this exchange as Paul managed it all. Half way through the installation Paul advised he needed to leave to run to the store as he damaged one of the incoming water valves; Paul repaired this on his dime. At the end of the day, Paul reviewed the passive air vent he installed into the water heater/furnace area to introduce fresh air, the changes made to the exhaust area within the chimney, how to turn off the water and gas in an emergency, how to change the water temperature (and what temperature to use to strike a balance between cost and performance) and where I could find the instruction manual. Paul left the work area cleaner than it was before he arrived. Two days after the installation I had a question for Paul so I left him a voice mail. He returned my call within the hour and answered my question thoroughly.

Paul was extremely responsive. He answered my call promptly, told me what he could do and approximately how much it would cost. He came exactly at the time promised and did the work rapidly because I had to go somewhere soon, but he did not scrimp on being thorough. He explained exactly what he was doing and was very professional about everything. He even voluntarily explained the reason the bill was larger than what one might expect, not withstanding it was at the bottom end of the estimate I had previously agreed to. I could not be happier with his work.

He is an interesting fellow and a delight to talk to, willing to show you what he is doing and explain any questions you have. He was no pressure and worked with myself on price that fit in my budget. He even went out of his way and moved the water heater to gain myself an extra two feet or so, then reworked a large amount of the plumbing to almost double the water PSI coming into my house. He halved the number of 90-degree bends coming from the indoor water meter, and removed a sediment filter that the last owner put on that we don't need in Eagan. I can t wait to see how my lawn watering will be improved in a few months. The end price for what I got was an amazing deal, just the cost of the softener plus the labor for the softener. Just overlook him saying what comes to his mind, he always treats you fair. It s rare to find someone who is more interested in doing the job right then maximizing profit today.
