BELTMANN GROUP- North American Van Lines

The Roseville group is a nightmare to work with. Tempur delivered a replacement bed to Beltmann on Oct 14, 2020. Apparently the contract tempur has with this company is also a joke, according to tempur this company is supposed to contact you with in 2 days and schedule an appointment for delivery. That never happened. They are supposed to store the bed horizontally the entire time. I have pictures of it coming off the truck vertically. The shipping company called once to say they would be at my house in 30 minutes. Needless to say as a teacher out of town I don’t have the luxury to drop work and leave. I think made many calls back to the company and left message upon message upon message. I then went to the corporate website and was in communication with them numerous times and when I said I was in MN they all knew exactly what company I was working with. Then last Friday they finally call to set up delivery and removal of the old mattress. Understanding that there are covid restrictions they said it would be a threshold exchange, no problem as long as I get the bed. Monday arrives and by 4:30 I have had no communication from them, so again call corporate. Corporate says they will be calling with in 30 minutes... an hour and half later the truck shows with no warning. That’s ok I’m reasonable, the driver then dumps the mattress in the driveway and refuses to take the exchange. And guess what.... it’s the wrong bed any way!! So on Dec 14, 2020 I finally have delivery of the wrong bed and still have the old one. I specifically asked about the removal when communicating last Friday with them. What a joke of a company! Don’t hire this company unless you want a nightmare experience.

We had an awful experience - all our things were crammed into the truck - when it was delivered, everything was smashed and tons of our furniture was broken and damaged. The driver wasn't even sure where our stuff was on the truck and we had to describe our furniture to him. Not to mention our patio chairs are TOTALLY missing - no sign of them anywhere. I've called customer service twice in eight business days and told both times a manger would call, but still no calls. I guess they don't care about all of our broken things...

The movers damaged several furniture pieces.  My dining room table had deep gouges and scratches on the surface.  A metal caster on a coffee table was bent and broken off.  Another coffee table had 3 deep gouges on the edge of the tabletop.  My 150-year-old antique armoire had a cracked door and the movers had broken off one side of the crown molding.  A leg was gouged on an end table.  Paint was scraped off several places a white custom craft cabinet.  There is a gouge in a desk drawer from when the drawer fell out onto the ground.  The skirts on two chairs were deeply wrinkled.  The skirts won't lay flat due to the stiff interfacing. The museum quality dollhouse had some railings and fretwork broken off.  A very large floral arrangement was knocked over by a mover in the house and fell out of its container.  A few other items had small scratches on them.

I cringed when I watched how the movers handled the furniture.  All the armoire pieces had been wrapped in blankets. but still had some parts of it showing.  The person in charge of loading the truck was shoving furniture around and not putting blankets around some of the furniture.  I mentioned this to him and he said he would do it later.  Boxes that were packed and labeled by me "this side up only" were turned on end and some upside down when loaded on the truck.  I mentioned this to the loader also.  None of the items were gently laid down when using the dolly.  The person unloading the crated dollhouse was jerking the crate around while trying to get it on the dolly.

It seems kind of odd that all the boxes I packed, nothing inside was broken, and I'm not a professional mover!!  I definitely would not recommend these movers to anyone, not even for moving junk.

contact.  Ray our driver was fantastic to work with.  They were very
communicative and punctual. I'd use them again.

I lived in an apartment and they could not get the big tuck in there and they brought a shuttle.  They had taken apart some items which did not need to be taken apart.  They took apart a lamp which should not be taken apart and was actually broken. They were professional and friendly.  I haven't inspected everything, but so far nothing else has been broken. They arrived on time.

They were very good. Ann the moving consultant was very helpful. We would use this group again, they were that good.

The movers were enthusiastic and nice to our children. They were not terribly well-trained. I watched one of the movers throw a package off the truck to another, who muffed the catch and allowed it to fall on the ground. This turned out to be a piece of sculpture, which shattered in the fall. Beltmann did not store our possessions carefully. They did the most damage to our most expensive pieces of furniture -- dining room chairs and our living room couch. We filed a claim for repairs. After months passed with no response from Beltmann, I received a phone call from a claims adjuster who said he wanted to set up a time to come over. I said,"how about today after 3:00 p.m."? He said, "sure," and that was the last I ever heard from him or from Beltmann again.

Everything has gone excellent. It's our second move in a year. Our first move was terrible, but this time everything was really good. They handled our belongings with care. They came in under their estimate.

The sales person was very nice. Presented what would be completed and showed photo examples. She said they use only full-time staff and had experience moving pianos, which was not true. They came on time, but did not cover or protect the woodwork as was explained. They put a hole in the wall and it took 4 months to finally get it repaired. The crew did an okay job, but we felt mislead as to the protection of the walls and woodwork. I would not recommend this company.

They did an excellent job, were very professional, and extremely careful. They used a third party company for crating and uncrating stone items, but overall, the work was done very well and smooth! Before they left, we toured the house to make sure that the furniture was in the exact place I wanted it to be. If not, they moved it, even if it was less than an inch.

Very well. Matt was referred to me by a co-worker. In our initial meeting with Matt we felt he was very open and honest and not trying to sell us any services we did not need. When the movers arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find high school/college students moving our home. They were all very kind and took care of our items. It was a hot day and they worked very, very hard. We even had them stay for dinner with our family.

From then on, it has been very difficult to get in touch with them. They were supposed to call us the next day with the exact weight, but they didn't. After that, it took them a long time to get our things on the road, which has delayed the shipment. While giving the estimate, they guarantee that the time frame they give you is binding, but if there are any problems, they just direct you to North American (Beltmans's an agent for them), and from then on, it's back and forth. There were companies that quoted almost $1000 less, but we went with the people who we thought would be more reliable, and would at least give good customer service. No such luck. And good luck trying to track your shipment through the North American website. Lastly, be very careful when they insist that you need a shuttle to/from the origin/destination. It is possible that they are just trying to hide their "small shipment charge" that other reputable companies don't have.

THE JOB STARTED OUT WELL, BUT IT BECAME QUICKLY APPARENT THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH HELP. CREW OF 4 CAME TO PACK AND MOVE IN 2 DAYS. CREW TOOK A LOT OF BREAKS, WORKED LATE INTO THE NIGHT AND RAN OVER. ITEMS THAT WERE TO BE PACKED WERE NOT. ITEMS NOT TO BE PACKED WERE. THE REAL SURPRISE CAME WHEN THEY ARRIVED AT DESTINATION. ITEMS TO BE PLACED IN APARTMENT, WERE PLACED IN STORAGE. EVERYTHING WAS CLEARLY MARKED BY THEM. HAD TO UNDO A 10X50 STORAGE AREA TO RETRIEVE THESE ITEMS. LABOR PROVIDED BY BELTMAN AND THE SECOND CREW WHO UNDID THE ORIGINAL CREW WORK COMMENTED ON THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. DESPITE SEVERAL REQUESTS FOR INSURANCE PAPERS, THEY DID NOT SEND ANY. FINALLY GAVE UP. NOW THAT OUR STUFF IS OUT OF STORAGE, ALMOST ALL THE FURNITURE IS DAMAGED AND NEEDS REPAIRED. EXPENSIVE GLASSWARE WAS PACKED WITHOUT EVEN BEING WRAPPED. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I AM REPORTING THEM TO THE BBB.

CREW WAS RIGHT ON TIME. THERE WERE 4 COLLEGE GUYS AND ALSO THE DRIVER/TRUCK ORGANIZER. THEY WERE EXTREMELY POLITE. THEY CAME IN AND ASKED EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED MOVED (PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE). THEY COVERED THE FLOORS WITH CARDBOARD AND PLASTIC TO PROTECT THEM. THE CREW REALLY HUSTLED!!! IT TOOK ONLY ABOUT 6 1/2 HOURS TO LOAD EVERYTHING, DRIVE TO BLAINE AND THEN UNLOAD THE FURNITURE/REMAINING BOXES (AND WE HAD PLENTY). THEY PUT EVERYTHING EXACTLY WHERE WE TOLD THEM TO. NOTHING WAS DAMAGED. GREAT JOB, GREAT CREW. I THINK THAT THE OTHER COMPANIES UNDERBID BECAUSE THEY ALL GAVE US A BID THAT HAD FEWER MEN TO UNLOAD AND THEY ALSO FIGURED THAT IT WAS GOING TO TAKE LESS TIME. I DON'T THINK IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE TO GO FASTER THAN THE CREW THAT MOVED US. WE WERE VERY HAPPY.

I WAS CONCERNED WHEN THE ENTIRE MOVING CREW LOOKED TO BE MADE UP OF COLLEGE AGE KIDS (19-20), BUT I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. THEY WERE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH MY THINGS, NOT RUNNING INTO WALLS ETC. THE WHOLE CREW WAS ALSO VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL, ASKING PERMISSION TO USE THE RESTROOM, FILL WATER JUGS ETC. WE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL AT GETTING ONE PIECE OF FURNITURE INTO MY FAMILY ROOM, BUT I FELT LIKE THEY GAVE IT THEIR BEST SHOT. THE WHOLE MOVE CAME IN UNDER ESTIMATE, BUT WE MOVED QUITE A FEW BOXES AND LOOSE ITEMS THE DAY BEFORE. HARD TO TELL WHERE WE WOULD HAVE COME OUT IF THEY'D HAD TO MOVE THOSE ITEMS.

MOVED OUR FURNITURE FROM TWO APARTMENTS INTO OUR HOME. THEY CAME OUT AND GAVE A VISUAL ESTIMATE OF HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO MOVE US AND HOW MUCH IT COST. WELL IT TOOK TWICE AS LONG AND COST HALF AS MUCH. WE CALLED TO ASK WHY AND THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT RETURN OUR NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS.
