I guess a rock or something had gotten wedged in between the belt and the brush. It stretched out the belt and damaged the grooves on the brush. (I am not 100% sure that I really needed a new brush, but next time I will ask for just the belt first.) Anyway, I brought it in and it was fixed while I was there. They weren't the most customer friendly, but they fixed my vacuum and did it quickly.
The salesperson at A-1 was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. (Oh, I wish I could recall her name - she was fantastic!) She ended up recommending a Miele - the Dog and Cat model based on some specials they were able to offer at that time. I've been using it for 2 months now and love it! It is exactly what I was looking for - powerful yet fairly quiet, easy to maneuver, Hepa filter, and seems well-constructed. A-1's price was very competitive and I really appreciated the guidance and knowledge of the salesperson.
