Have to go to court ? Enough said!
We contracted with J&B Contracting to drywall a floor of our house. They asked for the money for materials upfront. That was the first sign to go with another contractor but we did not. We paid for the materials but only about 1/3 of the drywall sheets required to complete the job were delivered. When Jeremy and his crew of 3 (two of which he had never met before) arrived to begin the job he stayed for maybe three hours and left with one of the crew. The two remaining (the ones he had not met before) stayed for most of the day. Each day Jeremy said he and the crew would come back tomorrow then would not show up. After nearly a week of ?no shows? we chose to go with another company and requested a refund. We agreed to settle with Jeremy for less than what was owed us in order to get it done promptly but he put us off several weeks. We tried again but still no payment. We offered mediation but they refused. So now we are off to court. We learned after the fact that the drywall that was delivered was the wrong size for 9 foot walls which lead to a great deal of scrap and needless to say more cost.
To get the job finished we had to hire a different group and of course pay for the materials to complete the basement -- Again! This ordeal has been very time consuming, frustrating, and expensive. I would not wish this ordeal on anyone else and hope that you will learn from our unpleasant experience.
