We are very pleased with Randy Covert, his team, and the sub-contractors he provided for the job.
The project turned out to be larger than we anticipated, because in a 73-year old home, there were a few unexpected issues. They included the need to relocate a heating duct and electrical circuits in an adjoining room, re-work the floor drain where the bathtub had been, and replace a window sash. In each case, Randy Covert explained the issue and offered options. He was always respectful of our budget as well as the aesthetics.
The original bathroom had ceramic tile on all walls, and it could not be easily removed from the plaster walls, so demolition required removal of the walls back to the studs. This was noisy and dusty, but the crew did a good job of trying to contain the dust, and cleaned up the area at the end of each day. They were equally tidy when it came to new drywall installation.
Randy worked with us to design a room layout to maximize the usability of the space, which is very small compared to current new-house bathrooms. We ended up with a beautiful and comfortable bathroom.
I appreciate his interest in our experiences at various showrooms he suggested. He wanted to make sure that the places he recommended were actually providing good customer service. When we had inaccurate information from one showroom, he contacted the owner to let him know that a new customer service person needed more training. This didn't have direct bearing on our bathroom, but it indicates his concern about our overall experience during the project.
The only item on which I didn't rate an "A" is Punctuality. At the time we started the remodeling, Covert was also working on a project that was in the western Twin Cities. There were a few days when we expected to see someone at a specific time, and that personal actually appeared a couple of hours later. In the big picture, this was a mild annoyance, but did not affect our satisfaction with Randy Covert and his company.
I would happily work with Randy Covert on future remodeling. Because he lives in my neighborhood, and has worked on many homes in this area, he is very familiar with their general construction, which was a benefit to us.

I need to call them back to get some cabinets put back under a counter and screwed to the wall. The cabinets where shoved under the counter but all the way. I notice that it appeared that only one coat of paint was applied. The employee confirmed this when he came back to correct the cabinets. He stated that he was told to only apply one coat. I checked the contract and it did state two coats. The worked came back the next day and applied the second coat.
Since this is in my home I would expect the workmen to clean up after themselves. The big item were gone but they could have sweeped up the floors and they did have the use of my shop vac to clean up.
