Signed the paperwork 9/13. Had to keep calling him about getting it scheduled. He told me the Xcel Energy wouldn't return his calls (needed them to shut down the power). I called Xcel Energy and found out Russ had scheduled it once already and he never showed up. Russ acted as though he had no idea what I was talking about. Now, why would Xcel Energy lie about it and more importantly, how did they get his name if he hadn't scheduled it! I scheduled it again, called Russ and gave him the new date. A no show AGAIN. I fired him and won't ever call Homebase Builders again

Roofing, Siding Service + 1 more
I bought $1,000 of new roofing or siding work for $400 through an Angies List Big Deal Coupon from Homebase Builders. I suffered hail damage to my roof, gutters, fascia and some window trim, and was told by Russ Lundquist, Homebase owner, I could apply the $600 savings to roofing material upgrades, which I did. Russ agreed to do the work authorized by my insurance company at their estimated cost, plus the upgraded shingles I ordered, and I signed a contract for the work on August 22nd. I paid him the entire amount of the first check I received from the insurance company at that time, over $5,600.00, and the roof work was scheduled for a week or so later.
The subcontractor he used for the roof did a nice job, and the work was done in less than 3 full days, but they could have done a better job of picking up after themselves. Over a period of several weeks after the roof the gutters were replaced by a sub, and Russ replaced the aluminum fascia and window trim himself, but only after several calls to remind him the work had not been completed. His workmanship on the window was good, and he even replaced a missing piece of window trim on another window at no cost. When he replaced the fascia, however, be bent the new drip edge installed on the roof by the roofers in several places and I had to call him back to repair it. It looks ok, but definitely is still noticably wrinkled in several places. He also replaced the discolored fascia on the front of my garage at no cost.
The final payment from the insurance company was delayed due to the fact the work had to be inspected by my mortgage holder, but was also delayed by some slow responses to needed information from Russ. In the meantime I found out the roofers had not been paid (this was at least 6 weeks after the work was done) and in fact a woman came to my door on a Sunday and wanted to serve me with lien papers for the roofing work not paid for. Needless to say I was not happy about that, and when I called Russ about it he indicated they had been trying to get him to pay for quite a while, but he would need the final check from my insurance company to pay them. The second and final payment was finally released by the mortgage company the second week of November and final payment was made to Homebase then.
Overall it was not a pleasant experience working with Russ and I would not use him again. He did do some extra repairs for me, but I think he may have done that because he knew I wasn't real happy with the experience, especially having to deal with the attempted lien service. His workmanship was only ok and his responsiveness was not very good.

We have tried to contact them 6-8 times to get the work scheduled. My husband did have a meeting with the owner, who said he was going to get back to us to schedule the work; he never got back in touch with us. I am requesting a refund.

They were neat, courteous, and professional. They were careful around the landscaping, and I was really impressed by their work.
