Purchased a deal for 2 hours of electrical work to take care of a few projects that I wasn't comfortable doing myself or hadn't had time to do. Overall quality was good, but didn't get nearly as much done as I had expected during that time.

Very positive. Well we had it put in 2 years, generator put in and they service it every as part as an ongoing contract.

It went well, I was impressed with the work. He came prepared to install an exhaust fan far exceeding what I needed. After looking at the job and determining that I could use a fan far less expensive and would do the job just as well. He made a special trip to the store and purchased the less expensive fan and installed. I appreciated his honesty and professionalism.

I’m having a tough time with this review. After calling the salesman came out, covered what I believe needed to be covered. I ordered a whole house generator. Later I was called by the lead person (foreman) of the installation team, stating they would be out at 8 AM on 4 August. Sometime after 11AM I called to find out where the install team was. I’m not sure who misunderstood the arrival time however he said they would arrive around noon. The installation seemed to go without a hitch until the electrical inspector arrived the following day. He stated the unit was not grounded properly and he would not approve the installation. I was called by Midwest’s foreman, informed there was an additional three hundred dollar charge to ground the system. There was little else I could do, but pay to have it grounded properly. (I thought they would have known how to ground their own product). Eleven months later sitting at home when the power went out, the generator started up while I sat in the dark. After some time I grabbed a flash light, went to the switch, turned the “fully automatic switch” on. Four hours later the power came back on and the generator turned off. I foolishly thought everything was OK. Two days later while I was out of town the power went off again. I’m not sure how long it was off, long enough that everything in my freezer and refrigerator was ruined. I called Midwest when I returned stating I wanting the switch fixed or replaced. The women on the phone said she would have the service tech call me. I started to get a little upset telling her “I couldn’t tell him anything more than the generator ran and the switch didn’t switch the power on”. She stated “You don’t have a service contract”. I told her the unit wasn’t a year old. She said it had been installed on 4 August. I didn’t want to argue since it was still July and Generac’s sheet says “Warranty Coverage Year(s) 1-2, Parts, Labor and Limited Travel” After bidding her farewell she called me back informed me, for the second time I didn’t have a service contract, then asked what color light the generator had shown. I said it was green, repeated the generator worked great, that the switch didn’t transfer the power. I admit I was getting a little upset. It was starting to appear all they wanted was to sell me a service contract. Somewhat angry I stated “It’s starting to look like you’re not exactly a very reputable company”. She responded “I work here and I can assure you we are”. I at last got off the phone then received a call two days later from a gentleman who questioned me as to what had transpired. I told him my feelings even reading their warranty to him which he said he was unaware of. That afternoon Devin, their service tech arrived. At last a ray of light, common sense and intelligence. He took the switches cover off, started checking the equipment finding a loose control wire connection from the installation. He tightened the three wires, tested the switch three or four times and it worked great. He explained the operation of the generator spending time to give me the basics of the unit. Had this company performed with the excellence Devin did I’d be giving a glowing review. However with the installation mistakes with the grounding, the extra charge to fix it plus the loose control wiring I doubt I'd use them again.

. We had gotten three estimates for this project, and we found Midwest on Angie's List. John Anderson came out and gave us his company's estimate. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He also suggested we go through Home Depot to help finance this project which we did. The workman came on time at 8am, and went right to work. We had a new circuit breaker installed as our old was was not doing its job. They also discovered that our outside gas meter was venting constantly instead of intermittently, so called Center Point to check on it. Sure enough it was leaking natural gas. The Center Point person fixed this concern. We were grateful that Midwest discovered this.
The workmen completed their tasks by 3pm, including cleanup. The last workman explained all the items we needed to know to my husband.
We couldn't be more pleased, and would happily recommend Midwest to others.

Ryan came out Wednesday to look at my garage. It was determined that the power isn't working in my garage, but it is working at the termination point at the home to the garage. Ryan gave me some options with regards to the next steps. I went with the option of having Midwest doing the trenching, extending a new circuit, upgrading the power to my garage, and installing an outside light by the door. Ryan came out the next morning with Jeff and they got it done.

Wonderful as expected.  I requested Ben as he has been here several times before. He is great to work with and takes time to understand what we need done, then he makes sure we are happy with the work. He is very good with my "rescued dogs" who are afraid of most people, he has good dog mojo!

Always prompt, professional and very nice to work with.

Thank you again, Ben!!

Once I decided to go ahead with the project and accepted this company's quote, they ordered the equipment when they received my deposit. The equipment was delivered to Midwest Electrical in a weeks time and they called to schedule install date when they received the equipment. Install was completed within a week of receiving all the equipment.  The install took a good part of the day and all went very smoothly. Nice clean job all around. The generator housing cover arrived with a crack in its side but this was already noticed and pointed out to me by the installers. They had a new cover already on order and came out to replace cover a few days later. As a separate item they installed a Whole Home Surge Protector during the Generator install.  Very nice work. The Generator started immediately when they tested by cutting commercial power and power was provided to the entire home within 20 seconds. When they restored commercial power the Automatic Transfer Switch then transfer power back to commericial with no outage and then shut down the generator. I had a couple issues later with the Kohler OnCue system and emailed Midwest Electric with the minor issues dealing with receiving the email notification from the generator when it was starting and ending its weekly exercise. They responded quickly and resolved the issue quickly. Very nice people to deal with and very professional from beginning to end.

First you can see that most people have had good luck with this provider.  Angie's relies on reviews that are not so good too though.  My experience was not positive.  I saw a deal on Amazon Local for $150 for two hours of electrical work.  I had recently purchased a home with a detached garage with wiring that was a handyman's mess. There were three switches that needed to be rewired.  I thought having an electrician out for a couple of hours could resolve it so I purchased the deal.  To start then they had sold so many of the deals that I would have to wait six weeks to get anyone out. No refunds.  Out of luck.  So I schedule the appointment and waited.  The appointment was set up for the electrician to arrive between noon and 4pm.  Sort of like getting cable TV installed.  The day of the appointment the repair person arrived at 3:55pm - having gone from Mpls to Hastings and up to my house in a northern suburb.  It was getting dark within 30-40 minutes so he worked on what he could via flashlight.  One outlet was declared impossible right away, and one got fixed and tidied up. That was it.  After 1 hour and 40 minutes I was told we were out of time and that was that.   I had him look at a job in the house I wanted a quote on, he took a look and a quick picture and said the boss would get back to me the next day.  Never did.  When I reached out to the boss about the 1hr 40min vs. 2 hours I had paid for, I was told that according to their GPS he was actually there for 1 hr and 49 minute, which was about right based on walking into the house.  Both are less than 2 hours.  When I requested a refund for principle - the 20 minutes I did not get I was told no refunds, no adjustments.

Nice enough guys I guess, but 2 hours is 2 hours and probably shouldn't start at dark.   If you have something relatively simply and can get your appointment in the morning (albeit 6 wks later) Groupon or Amazon Local deals for this company may work.  If anything more complex you might search further. Or pay full price which might get you a better experience.

I went to them for the installation because they matched their competitor's price and drop it, they went below plus the fact that they were on Angie's List and so is the other guy. They knew what they were doing, they explained what they were going to do, what they were doing and how they are going to do it. They have to get in the close quarters between our vents and our deck and so it was close quaters. They have to go under the deck and through the basement walls and they did it. There was no mess, not even a scrap paper left from the packages, nothing.

Midwest installed a GE Home Generator.   The generator project went very good from the original quote that John had provided, to coordination with Centerpoint on a meter change, and the complete installation.   They were priced much better than the other contractor we interviewed, and they really knew their stuff.    We opted for the monitoring and it is very cool that we get notifications from our generator via text message.   In my opinion, they are the absolute experts in the Twin Cities.
We also signed a 3 year service with them, and got a 15 % discount.  Now when we are away, or there are storms, there is no worry.   Very great experience!
