"I appreciate your business and would encourage an opportunity to meet with you to discuss your complaints. Jeff, his manager Brian, and I offer his side of your issues: Geo-Thermal Heating: Jeff reports that you have worked hard maintaining an organic theme for your property. He represents that from the start, it was obvious that you had already reached a conclusion to utilize Geo-Thermal. Sizing: Jeff choose a 5-ton system which would be oversized if one considers only the cooling load. Because we reside in Minnesota we make it policy to size all systems to meet the heating load. 5-Ton equals 60,000 BTU’S; this will be required to heat your home in its current condition using any system. Jeff choose a 2-stage system, the operation affords the system to run on first stage (2 ½-tons, 30,000 BTU’S) unless additional load is required by the weather. 80-Gallon Water Heater: We always suggest an 80-gallon water heater to maximize the efforts of your Geo-Thermal system. Anything smaller would expel energy that has already been produced. Extra Charges: Your letter has obvious conflicting remarks in this regard. First you state we charged exactly what we quoted, then you represent we bid you a lower price only to “pile on extras to make money”. Propane: Geo-Thermal is the most efficient method of cooling or heating with electricity. Every electricity company charges different rates at different times. Jeff’s comments regarding comparing your current utility costs were meant to remind you what you had spent on propane. Invoice: The work was detailed on our quotation, we made no changes. We see no value in providing another list that was previously detailed. Our Price: I am confused here as well. Our price was 15-20% lower than our competitors. Using a more expensive contractor would increase your payback time by 20%. Thermostat: The thermostat was not wired incorrectly. It was either programmed incorrectly or someone changed the programming. Our quick response appears to be nothing more than good customer service. Monster in Basement: Any water to air heat pump houses not only the heat exchanger and blower like a standard furnace, but also a compressor and evaporator normally seen outside of a home are integral to the inside unit. Jeff represents he reviewed the size of this unit in advance. Rebate: Your electric provider has rejected our paperwork two times; we have submitted your information for the third time. Solar: We have been in business for 26 years. We are not aware of any solar heating/cooling system that works well in this climate. We could not recommend a solar heating/cooling system. Our mission statement represents our goal to be the most honest plumbing and heating company in our area. Please consider affording me the privilege of a discussion at your convenience. Sincerely, Jim Gander General Manager Superior Mechanical (507) 289-0229"
