Over Under Construction

My husband and I recently worked with Mike Walk from Over Under Construction/Austin Remodeling to replace our windows, roof, soffit, fascia, and gutters. We have since highly recommended him to multiple friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. After receiving several bids, we were immediately impressed with Mike’s reasonable quotes as well as his friendly demeanor. Mike took time to listen to our specific needs and answer all of our questions. He offered several pieces of great aesthetic advice, which helped our roof and windows turn out better than I had originally envisioned. Throughout each task, we witnessed a strong attention to detail and quality level of finish. We both feel grateful to have worked with such a professional, trustworthy, and accommodating person during the stressful process of purchasing and working on a “fixer-upper”. The quality of each job was superb, and the clean-up from the roof replacement was spotless. Mike’s crews worked quickly to create high-quality results. The job started as a routine re-shingle job but it was discovered that the wood under the shingles was rotten and had to be replaced. Mike took pictures of the problem areas and emailed them to me at work and then called to talk through everything. Even though there was additional and more extensive work than expected, the crew finished the job on the same day and because of the added expenses he worked out a payment plan that was outside of the standard options which I really appreciated. I first learned about Over Under Construction from a friend referral and I was very happy with the communication, professionalism, responsiveness, and the quality of the job so I will now be giving high recommendations to anyone I know who are looking to have roofing jobs done in the Twin Cities. In the spring of 2015 we received hail damage from a storm. We filed an insurance claim and began looking for a reputable contractor. Our neighbor recommended and guy that was recommended to them by a friend, as being one of the best in the business and knowing his trade. That guy was MIKE WALK with Over Under Construction. Mike showed up on time, knew what he was talking about and didn't make us feel pressured to do anything. He was there for the Insurance inspection, on time again, and went well out of his way to help us through out the process. He explained everything clearly and had the math down to the dollar. The work that was performed was speedy and spectacular. We continue to constantly get comments from our neighbors and strangers as to the quality of work and how beautiful the house is. Mike stopped by periodically through out the repair process to make sure everything was going as planned. also the siding workers were very nice and polite and also on time and worked well into the evening. They also picked up after themselves every day before they left. All said and done the final bill was the same as the quote, the work was great and Mike is awesome. Over Under Construction replaced a roof and Velux skylight for us along with handling the replacement of Leafguard gutters. Very simply . . . They did what they said they were going to do. Over Under Construction handled all negotiations with State Farm making sure that the adjuster didn't miss anything and advocating for us when necessary with the insurance company. Their bid was simple to understand and completely transparent. Almost all of the suggestions for things we might consider doing were suggested prior to the final job bid, so there were no monetary surprises that came up. Over Under Construction handled getting a building permit from the City of Apple Valley for us. Their crew and materials were here on time, on the day promised. Additional crew members arrived throughout the day as they were needed for more specialized tasks so it was a good and timely use of their resources. Mike Walk stopped by frequently to see if the experienced crew had questions or needs. A well-oiled machine. The work was completed in one day. Cleanup was impeccable. I have recommended Over Under Construction to two friends who also used them for their roof replacement. They have also been pleased with the results. All three of us agree that we would hire this company again. PLUS, Over Under Construction is a GAF Certified Installer which more than doubles the up-front coverage vs. typical shingle warranties. AND Over Under Construction filed the warranty for us! Good people, good quality, good service.

The work was done in a timely and professional manner.  Mike Walk worked with us to make sure everything was handled to our satisfaction. The roof was was actually completed in one day.  The workers came very early and worked past dark.  They made sure that every nail was picked up in our yard, going over it thoroughly.  That was important to me as we have pets that could be injured by stray nails. All construction debris was picked up.  Waste container removed promptly. 
Roof looks great.  Gutters working well with all the rain we have been getting.  Would trust Mike Walk with any project and would absolutely work with him again.

These guys walk on water. First they show up on time!!! Second they are some of the nicest people we have ever met. The quality of work is beyond anything we could have hoped for.

When the insurance company tried to pull a fast one with the settlement, Mike stepped up and went to bat for us and he fixed the problem with our insurance. It did not matter to him, he was going to get paid either way, but this is the kind of stand up guy Mike is.

We where going to have the roof put on last fall, but Mike was concerned about the weather getting cold and encouraged us to wait until spring. He went up and repaired the problem areas and sealed the leaks so we could make it through the winter. Never charged us a dime.

When it came time to do the roof, the material showed up on time, all the colors were correct. The crew showed up when they said they would be here and work hard all day. The clean up was incredible. I think the yard and landscaping was cleaner after they were here then before the work.

We can not say enough great thinks about Mike and Over Under Construction. He is not only our only contractor going forward, but we consider him a friend.

Mike Walk was recommended to us by a friend to have our roof checked for hail damage.  We were very close to the hailstorm track.
this occurred in July, 2013.  Mike inspected the roof and told us it didn't need replacing at that time but some of the shingles were cracked down the middle.  There was a recall on this particular shingle.  Mike gave us the information and offered to remove and replace the required shingles to send in for the warranty.  He took photos of the entre roof.  All of this was done at no cost to us.  We received a small refund on a 20 year old roof.  The company did not reimburse Mike for his work, so we did.  Mike, also had one of his workers seal all of the cracks which would get our roof through another year.  This I paid for. 
The following year, 2014, Mike checked back  with us and determined that my roof was now ready for replacement.  Mike helped pick out the shingles and the color, explaining his reasoning for both.  We agreed to take his suggestions.   He did not try to sell unnecessary reapairs.  He was here several times to check on his crew.  They were efficient, finishing the job in one day, and cleaned up everything.   No nails nor trash was left.  No flowers nor bushes were damaged.
Mike also recommended a painter who did a great job on our house.  We had a gas fireplace put in after the roofing was finished.  Mike came out to inspect  the roof to ensure no damage was done to the roof area around the chimney.
We have received many compliments on how good the roof looked.  One of our neighbors wants Mike do do his roof.
Mike and his crew did a great job and we would definitely use him again.

From start to finish we had a fantastic experience.  Mike was professional and helpful from the first time he came over to look at our roof.  He spent plenty of time helping us pick out the perfect shingle color to not only match our house, but make our house stand out  in our neighborhood.  His crew did a fast job and cleaned our yard up afterwards.  We had some complications with our insurance afterwards and Mike was very patient and helpful to assist us in getting everything settled. We will definitely be using this company for future construction needs.

To be honest it went very good. every thing was completed in one day, and there was no mess. all of the staff was very nice and kept me in the loop. I am very pleased and hope to do future business with this company.

Mike and his team were amazingly responsive and professional.  He took time to personally make several visits to our home and made himself available for questions.  He helped us work with our insurance company and even made it a point to be on site during the inspection.  Their prices were more than competitive.  We had had several other groups (storm chasers) come by and their quotes were easily 20-30% more than Over Under Construction.  The work was performed timely and they took the time to ask us about our children's nap schedules so they could work around them.  A very nice personal touch.  Mike also took the time to stop by several times during the work to ensure it was being done properly by the crew.  We would not hesitate to use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking to do a home project of any size.

After the storm in July we had several companies come knocking on our door offering to give free inspections for roof damage. Over Under Construction was the fourth company we had take a look at the house. We were impressed with Mike Walk right away when he inspected not only the roof, siding, windows and deck for damage, but he also walked to the back of our property where we have a large wooden play set that he also inspected for damage! None of the other companies were that thorough.
The other companies told us after looking at our roof that we "definately have heavy hail damage" and that we would definately get a new roof. When Mike did his first inspection he told us there was minor damage and that it would probably not be enough to justify a new roof. He was very straightforward about everything and did not hype things up to get our business. We were sold!
We had the insurance company adjuster come out and Mike followed the inspector and answered questions and showed him where the damage was. At first the inspector didn't see enough damage on the gutters until Mike showed him where he had seen it and the inspector agreed that the house needed to have the gutters replaced. The inspector also decided that the roof had minimal damage and was still in very good shape, just as Mike had told us. Mike showed him where the damage to the siding had occur and they took a sample to try and find a match. Turns out it was discontinued and we got to pick out a new color and style for the house.
Installation of everything went very smoothly and everyone that came to the house to work on it was extremely professional friendly l and very efficient! It took a little over a week to complete the job and when they left you couldn't even tell that they had been there. The dumpster was gone and all the old siding, gutters and trash had been removed without a single thing left behind - or one piece of trash on the ground!
During the entire project from the first point of contact after the storm until the last electrical plate was reattached after the project was done, Mike was ALWAYS there to answer questions and make sure the work was being done properly. Whenever we had a question (which was often!) or needed something Mike was incredibly quick to respond back to us, although he usually answered his phone every time we called him. Every detail and every concern of ours was addressed almost immediately!
We are so incredibly excited how the house turned out and how thorough and professional everything was handled.

We had a slight weather delay to start with but they were very flexible about waiting for warmer weather. When we did set a date they were here and finished the job in one day. We were very pleased with their work.

Mike came to assess the damages, advised us to call our insurance company and met the adjuster at our home.  Mike and the adjuster agreed 100% on the damages and what should be covered by the claim on the insurance.  The materials were ordered and every went smoothly, on time, as explained and they cleaned up afterward.  It all looks amazing and they did a great job!  Mike was easy to work with, honest, trustworthy and was 100% true to his word.

We had are roof replaced because of a hail storm I got referred to this company by are insurance agent and i called them up and i talked to mike about the situation and made a appointment to have him come out and look at the roof he came out and met with me and he went over some things about his company his license his certifications ex. He was vary informative about every thing then we went on the roof and to take a look and he pointed out what we were looking for he also pointed out other things as well  then i called the insurance company and they sent out a adjuster to look at the roof then i called mike i call him the roof guy he came out to meet the adjuster and they both looked at the roof and when they got done with that mike called me back and met with me at the house and we talked about what they had found and he said that the adjuster approved for a new roof then we went to the next step and proceeded to get the wright shingle and color for our house the thing about this company is they did a excellent job on the roof and they cleaned up every thing when they were done they did the roof in one day mike was vary informative about what shingle we should us and the workmanship was excellent if there was something that wasn't right they made it right this was done with perfectionism if i need work done again i would use this company again
