The path between our horse barn and the pasture is a steep slope that crosses two ravines/culverts. The path over the lowest culvert washed out twice in four years. Erosion was also causing the slope to get steeper. CBI was one of four companies that we asked for a recommendation and estimate. They were the only company whose recommendation made sense and addressed the issues that are unique to horse properties. Greg came out within a few days of my initial call to him. I could tell by the questions he asked and by the way that he studied the area that he understood the issues, both the obvious and the not so obvious, and that he had a clear vision of what needed to be done. He put in a larger culvert and several boulder dams to slow the flow of the water to the culvert. He removed the silt from the area in front of both culverts. He created a berm on the pasture side of the path to prevent water from washing down the path and he created a path that traverses the slope from the barn to the lower culvert. I could not believe how quickly the work was completed and how neat everything looked when Greg finished. It has been a year since the work was done during which time we have had several heavy rain events. I rest easy because the dams and the culvert are easily handling the water. The path from the barn to the pastures is holding up great and is much safer for the horses who use it several times each day.

This was the second project that I have contracted with CBI. Greg has experience from having worked on other horse barns/arenas and was helpful in assessing my specific needs. He was also very patient with me as I tried to decide between pea gravel and sand for the footing!
Greg did some grading around and inside the arena a couple weeks prior to bringing the new sand in. He found and cleared an inconspicuous area for the old footing and laid it in neatly so we don't see it which was far preferable to having a huge pile of dirty sand. He then placed 2 1/2 inches of new sand in the arena.
Greg is great to work with, friendly and knowledgeable. He works hard, gets the job done quickly and everything is neat when he leaves. His project costs are very competitive. We will definitely use him on future projects.
And the horses love their new beach!

I had contacted one other person to do the work. Greg's bid was $1000 cheaper than the other bid. The first bid was only to slope the dirt away from the house and to add edging, widow wells and rock. Greg?s bid included all of that and also working the yard to drain all water away from the house. Greg came out on time; he set to work quickly by installing the window wells. He then had to tear out a small retaining wall, and to raise the central air conditioner unit up a foot. Then he removed the patio pavers under the A/C unit. Then he got his Bob Cat and trimmed the slope away from the house. He finished up by building up the dirt around the house, placing the edging, plastic, and rock. When he was finished the job looked incredible! He cleaned up after himself.
