Chris installed underlayment and tile in our front entryway.  We provided Chris with a print out of how the tile should be installed as well as received confirmation from him that grout lines would be 1/8 inch.  We installed a black tile with tan highlights and also explained that any tile with a majority of tan should be used on the borders or in the closet and that the main walkway should be made up of black tiles.  When the work was completed, he did a different pattern and we had black along the border and tan in the main walkway and grout lines that were very inconsistent to the point where some corners touched each other.  No spacers were used.  When we approached Chris to discuss this and make sure we would be on the same page for the bathrooms we planned on doing, he told us to find another contractor and that the issue was between me and my spouse.  The front entry tile would need to be removed and redone by another contractor.  When the tile was removed it was discovered that very little thinset was used and tiles would start popping off within months because it is a high traffic area with two doors leading into the house in the entryway.  We will need to have our cost for Chris doing the work refunded as well as demolition and tile replacement costs reimbursed because tile would need to be repurchased since it can not be reused.  Chris charged $941.65, demolition was $300 and replacement tile costs was $635.11.  We are requesting from Chris a reimbursement of $1876.76.

Chris was very professional throughout the whole project.  This was our first remodel and Chris was more than willing to walk us through the entire process.  They did a fabulous job and my husband and I could not be happier.  Such attention to detail and such professionalism.  You cannot go wrong with this great tiling team!

Chris was so accomodating with my schedule. I had completely gutted my bathroom so I had sheet rockers, painters, plumber, etc coming, and he helped me orchestrate everything as I was finishing finals and graduating college at the age of 40+ Great guy!!

Chris was pleasant and seemed very detail oriented during the estimate process, but his workmanship on the installation was inferior. On day two before he started to grout, we shared our concerns about the spacing of the tiles. Initially he was going to pull and reposition some of the tiles to correct the issues, but abandoned any effort to correct the poor installation. Chris was unable to provide an explanation as to why he didn't use verticle spacers - only apologies. He said he tried to make them as consistent as possible. He opted instead to "manipulate" the grout to fix the issues. Grout only made the poor installation more apparent.
Response from ACCENT TILE
"It is difficult to resrpond to such a harshly critical report, but is also my responsibility as a business owner to do so. First and foremost, it is with much regret that I was not able to make this cusomter a satisfied customer. This glass tile installation did have it's challenges, and there was a tremendous amount of effort that went into this project. I have been in the tile industry since 1986, and in business for myself since 2000, and have worked extremely hard to establish a solid reputation for dependability and quality workmanship, and this type of report is a very rare exception representing the type of work that I am know for. There are some arguments that could be made against this report, but it is more important to take away an important lesson. It will only make me work harder to maintain the reputation that I am truly know for."

Chris Horvath, the company owner, came very soon after we called him and finished the work quickly.  He and his assistant kept everything tidy and they did a beautiful job for us.  We were so pleased with the way our half-bathroom looked when they were finished.  We would gladly reccommend him to anyone.
