Child Care - Center
We moved to the area one year ago and my child started attending daycare here. At first it was not so bad. The teacher would occasionally let me know that my son was having problems with particular activities and I would communicate with her tips and ideas that would maybe help him out. Things were great. In November I was approached by my sons teacher again and asked if I would be willing to allow someone from the early childhood education center in town could come in and observe him in the classroom so they could give his teacher pointers on how to help my son with transitioning between activities. I was caught off guard, but agreed because they were doing it in my child's best interest. Over the course of two months they prodded the ECEC 4 times to have my son observed and tested. Each time, the results came back that my son was acting like a normal 3 year old and they saw no issues. The last time I spoke to the ladies at ECEC they had said that the daycare center is not staffed enough to facilitate a child who may need more personal attention than other children, but they gave the director and my son's teacher a list of small changes they could make to benefit him and said that these changes would take 2 weeks to see results. After one week, the director called to tell me that my son is a harm to the staff and is not welcomed back at Sunshine Tree. I had been told that he had started hitting and spitting at his teachers by another aid recently, but he is 3. It just isn't adding up. This is a Christian daycare. On my son's last day of care,I walked in to pick my son up and he was in a room by himself screaming and crying. The aid had said he was trying to hit her and called her stupid and ugly so she left him in a room by himself for an hour because she could not deal with him anymore. From the time I appeased the school to have him observed things started to get progressively worse with his behavior, none of which I have ever witnessed or has he done at home. Needless to say, we were beginning to look elsewhere before this last occurrence but we were not able to secure anything.
