It went wonderfully. Had the roof replaced in 2015 due to wind and hail damage. Alan came out and made a very professional presentation. He showed me the different options and I was convinced that this is the way I want to go. They installed the roof two weeks later. I was very impressed with the quality of his crew. Alan was present through the installation. P.S. I am presently selling my house and I asked Alan to come out for the inspection. Alan cheerfully did this and he was a big help in showing the inspectors how he did our roof. He also knew the laws very well and conformed to them. I would very much like to recommend Alan as he is professional and thorough.

Our experience with the A.M. Burney Exteriors was extremely frustrating and we would suggest that you find another roofer. When they originally replaced our roof, there were numerous issues with workmanship. They cut our plywood at the top of the roof crooked when installing ridge vent and nailed it down improperly so that it was curling and bumpy. Eventually, they admitted that this was done improperly and replaced the roof in those areas. In a number of places, shingles were not secured properly and were lifting. Two times when we discussed what we needed to have done, they agreed to replace the plywood roof decking in areas where it was obviously soft to walk on. Both times, they decided not to replace that plywood (which we paid for) and told us that it was “good enough”. Their response to several of our concerns was that “there is nothing technically wrong” with their work, even if it looks unprofessional. On one corner of our roof, the shingles and underlayment lifted several inches, exposing the bare roof. The repair by A.M. Burney was to pound nails through top surface of the shingle and glob caulk on each nail. When you pay for a new roof, this is not what you had in mind for the finished result. Their effort to clean up after the job is probably the worst that we have ever seen. I had to climb all over my roof and scour my lawn to pick up hundreds of nails, sharp pieces of cut flashing, shingle pieces, water bottles, trash, and other construction debris. They left a large pry bar in our gutter. When I complained, their written explanation was “construction is messy”. It’s hard to tell if this roofer doesn’t know how to do the job correctly or just doesn’t care, but I won’t trust my house with them again. This was our worst experience with a contractor over 28 years of owning a home.

After my insurance adjuster approved the replacement of my roof, I was taking estimates for installation of a steel roof as well as an impact resistant asphalt roof.  I called A.M. Burney Exteriors to come out and give me a quote.  I had already received 2 quotes from other roofers.  One roofer quoted just an impact resistant asphalt roof and another roofer quoted both the impact resistant asphalt roof and steel roof..  Both quotes for the asphalt roof were within a couple of a hundred dollars of each other.  The steel roof quoted was 2X as expensive.  I did not expect Alan to be very competitive.  Alan was very punctual and professional in his presentation.  He provided much documentation regarding the manufacturing of the steel roof.  I was greatly surprised when I received his estimate.  It was more expensive than the asphalt but it was definitely worth it.  The big selling points for me was the robust design and the impervious nature to mold, mildew, wind and ice dams.  That was why I wanted a steel roof.  Ironically, my roof now looks like a shake roof and is architecturally pleasing to the eye.  The crew came on schedule and went to work.  They cleaned up after themselves and the results speak for themselves.

The install went well and the gutters, fascia, and soffit look great. They also installed the Gutter Dome which I was told was the best gutter guard on the market. While that might be true, it did clog, for lack of a better word, and created a wonderful path for water to come off my roof and go directly into my basement, which resulted in me having to rip out my basement carpet. I contacted A.M. Burrney and they put me in contact with the company that actually did the work. I contacted the sub and after one round of communication in which they told me they'd be out to look at the problem, I was never able to get hold of them again.
I'm now left with a gutter cover that doesn't work and two very unresponsive companies. Another thing I was willing to let go initially was the complete lack of cleanup the installers performed. I was picking up sharp pieces of soffit, fascia, and gutter for weeks after the install. Fortunately I was able to find the worst pieces before my dogs did.
In closing, I think this company can do some good work at a competitive price, but I cannot recommend them in the future.

It when very we'll, a lot of work was done, to our old place, it's was built in the forty s. The wife and I have had a lot of compliments , it looks like a story book cottage. To it's just beautiful. The wife and I really appreciate what. Allen and his group helped us do in getting the home and garage taken care of. It's impressive to say the least. Don Kathy Hannaman.
