10 years ago I had a new pool installed by Kalifornia Pools. 10 years later, I can say I have an awesome pool. No major issues. The owner Nick is always available by phone or email to answer questions. And will always send out a tech for service or emergency. I purchased a great produce. I highly recommend this pool company.

This review is for a job that occurred over the course of two years from 2014. This began well but ended badly. Although Kalifornia Pools was more expensive than other bids, I hired them as I trusted Nick would oversee the job and make sure it was done well. It took two summers to get Kalifornia to deliver on the original promise. Needless to say, the work took longer than expected and was promised. Year (summer) one, Nick's team completed resurfacing the pool, several weeks beyond the originally estimated time frame. When they were done, I noticed that they had dumped little blobs of plaster everywhere (still have many gems in my yard to date), knocked over a statue that was given to me by my wife as an anniversary gift and to add insult to injury, buried it under their own waste from the pool! I told Nick about it but he nor his crew ever came out to do anything about it. Year (summer) two, I noticed that much of resurfacing in the shallow end of the pool from year one had began to crackle. I called Nick many times. He eventually came out to look at it but told me they were too busy with "paying jobs" to address it this summer. We felt like we were being blown off! I called him time and again and finally they came out to repair it. This time the guy who worked on it did a great job. However, when I look at my pool today, I'm still very angry as just a couple of short years later much of the grout has come out, therefore the glass tile is beginning to fall out and needs to be replaced. The plaster in the skimmers was never done correctly and is beginning to come out in chunks as well. I paid a partial year's college tuition for this work only to look at my pool today and be very angry that hiring a professional netted me such a poor result. This year we've had to hire someone else to come in and replace the glass tile that's missing and redo all of the grout. They will likely have to resurface the skimmers as well. I could add so much more to this review about what's gone wrong but it's already long enough. I would not recommend these guys to do a pool resurfacing one bit. I have a friend who paid several thousand dollars less than I did and got an outstanding result!

It went perfectly smooth from start to finish. Nick was very accessible by phone or text and promptly delivered on his installation & honored his price as discussed on the phone. I needed the heater installed on very short-notice before we had Labor Day guests coming to stay with us for the holiday. Nick and his company came out, installed & took the old heater/parts with them within less than 2 business days. He just completed my pools winter shut-down too at no extra cost, just as promised so I am very satisfied with him and his company. I plan to use him for all future pool work at my residence. Thank you Nick!

I hired Kalifornia Pool to remove an in-ground pool and re-landscape afterwards. The price was right, but nothing else went well. The project should have taken a week to 10 days but it ended up taking 40 days. They started the project in early spring before road restrictions were lifted or dirt and sod were available and when there was just one dry day in the weather forecast. It turned out to be one of the rainiest periods in history. My yard ended up turning into a huge mud pit that wasn?t graded properly for drainage which caused my basement to flood along with other property damage. It took weeks for the yard to dry out sufficiently for the project to be completed. They did try to fix all of the damage including drying out the basement, repairing a fence, rebuilding a retaining wall, and replacing perennial plants. But the end result isn?t good. The sod is lumpy throughout and there is a large area where standing water collects after it rains.

I have used Kalifornia Pools and SPA for at least 5 years ever since I got a mailing advertising a closing cost which was below market value at the time. They have been responsive to my needs. Left a message on their voice mail and discussed my pool heater needs and Nick provided me several options to replace the heater. I desired a slightly larger pool heater than what was in place previously. We went over the various options and chose a heater which both was larger and fit the space. He emailed the cost and I gave him the verbal to install, he said he would get it on the schedule and it would be a week and a half. I told him to install any time he called me the next day and it was installed. I find Nick easy to work with very knowledge and free with his knowledge. Great guy to work with and has been responsive to my emergency situations. What more can one wish from a service provider?

Top notch! Wish we'd discovered this pool company years ago. For the first time we have a pool company with not only great expertise, but also responsiveness and fair prices. They are professional, communicative, and knowledgable. They make it their mission to assure a great result and satisfied customer. They have our highest recommendation!

Good. I use them routinely. They are a consistent good service provider. Only thing they could improve upon is taking used chemicals bottles with instead of leaving behind for customer to recycle.
Response from KALIFORNIA POOL & SPA
"[member name removed], Since your review, we have changed our policy to take all trash/empty chemical bottles with us when we are finished. Thank you for your suggestion, Nick - Owner, Kalifornia Pool"

I was very happy with their work. They cleaned up after themselves.

Very well. Nick was clear and straightforward with the estimate. A few minor problems - tile supplier delivered insufficient tiles delaying completion by a couple of days, and one morning a helper did not arrive. But Charles was a true pro and did a beautiful job. They cleaned up and left everything in good shape. My 50 year old pool looks fresh and new. I will call them when I am ready to re-plaster.

They are fantastic. Nick is always really responsive and kind. And Ben has been smart, friendly and helpful at every turn. He took the time to teach me things and was really patient with things I didn't understand. They do a great job and I trust them implicitly.

Fairly routine pool closing. Nick, the owner, and another technician came out. Nick was fairly friendly and answered any questions I had. However, since this was the first time I had used them, it would have been nice had they come to the front door to let me know they were there and introduce themselves rather than just starting the work, especially since I was considering having them do more extensive pool repairs in the spring.
