The prime contractor (not Classic Asphalt) did the demolition and did an excellent job. Classic Asphalt's crew then showed up and did some additional prep work then laid the asphalt driveway and parking pad. The crew and equipment were professsional and in good condition. When they finished, the job looked good and according to contract. However, the next summer (summer 2010) I found quality problems with the asphalt. We all understand that asphalt gets a bit soft in 90 degree weather. The material I got turned to mush this summer. I have tire gouges from a regular size Toyota sedan that parked in the driveway. I have a large push divot/gouge in the parking pad where the parking chock behind the tire of my boat trailer pushed the material away like it was mere mud or something. The driveway is on a bit of a slope which is how the trailer pushed the parking chock into the surface of the parking pad. Many of my neighbors have asphalt, some with slopes like mine. None of them have had soft surface issues like mine. I tried to contact the company several times to no avail. I sent a message via their web site explaining the issue. I subsequently sent an email with a detailed explanation after not hearing anything from them. Finally I sent them a written letter. I still have had no contact from the company about this issue. Because of this I would never recommend this company to anyone. In point of fact I would warn anyone not to do business with this company as it appears that once they get the money the customer means nothing any more. I don't know if there is anything that can be done to remediate the softness issue. Perhaps rerolling it might help. I can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars to bring out another contractor so I'm stuck with this problem driveway. I can only hope that as it ages it'll harden up some more, but my 'new' driveway already looks old due to the scars. My wife and I are very disappointed.
