"Good afternoon [Member Name Removed]! Thank you for your review! In reviewing your rates, you are paying for a seasonal yard waste subscription as well (which adds $8/month), without that you'd only be paying $21.35/month for your trash service. If you are able to reduce your cart size to a smaller size, you could drop that monthly cost to $17.22. Some companies offer lower rates, usually with a 2 or 3 year contract. With those contracts, there's often a cart delivery charge, a cart removal charge (if you ever cancel in the future) and built in increases so that by the time the contract is over the monthly rate is significantly higher than it was at the start of the contract. Part of what makes the rate so high is that in Ramsey County there is an environmental charge of 28% and a state waste tax charge of 9.75%. Be glad you aren't a commercial business in Ramsey County, they pay a 53% environmental charge and 17% state tax each month! We have been working on implementing a new feature of our software, which will send out automatic notification letters when any customer is past due (which happened to you due to the expired card) about a week in advance to notify them of the stop service date. The goal is to better communicate when that change in service will happen, to prevent a situation like yours where our communication was not good enough and the service was lacking. I would like to note, you are billed two months at a time, so your cost sited is for 2 months. Your normal monthly amount is [Member Information Removed] a hair over $27 each month (with taxes). Currently our Afton rates are more competitive than even larger organized cities like North St. Paul, so we maintain a very competitive rate for a city as rural as Afton is.
