General Rental Center

Was looking for a self-propelled unit and my local rental center only had the non-self propelled model. I called around and found the self-propelled unit at this rental center about 30 miles from my house. I called first to verify it was the self-propelled unit and they said it was. I asked for the model number and checked on the manufacturer's website and it was indeed self-propelled. When I picked up the unit I checked the gear box to make sure it was s-p, and it again was. I took the week rental since I wasn't going to be able to use it for a couple days. When I did use it, I could not figure out how to engage the self-propelling mechanism since there was no lever for the drive on the handle bars, only one for the throttle for the fan on the machine. I tried to use the machine as is, but it was too heavy to push up my hills. I returned the machine and asked the workers who unloaded the machine how it was self-propelled. They examined the machine and said that the self-propelled lever was broken off and there was just a bare cable on the side of the handlebars. I went inside to discuss with the person at the register, who I think was the owner. I told him the machine was broken regarding the self-propelling mechanism and his response was that it was my fault for not checking it out before renting. He then said that he has women working during the week who don't know about the "modifications" to the equipment, and so he wasn't responsible. I told him this was not a modification, but that the machine was broken. He then told me that they cannot get the repair part from Billy Goat any longer, so again not their fault. So he was fully aware that the machine was broken and was renting it out as if it was fully functioning when it was not. We went around and around on this several times. I didn't even get the chance to formally ask for a refund or partial refund, as he was on the defensive right away and said they would not do anything for me. Will never, ever consider renting anything from this merchant again. Broken equipment, dishonest, very defensive. Horrible experience.

Rental was fine going in but I had to rent the one size smaller since that is what was available. Told I needed for at least a day. Trailer worked great and the guy in the lot put in a new battery before I left. Missed closing on Friday because I had not counted on holiday traffic so end up bringing it at 9am. Supposed new owner tell me I cost him money because I didn’t have it there the night before. I expected him to charge me an extra day because I had missed the 3:30 the day before. Nope he charged me a weekly rate for 1 1/2 days. So renter beware!!! Been going there for over 20 years never again!!

I rented a paint sprayer from them and it was not cleaned out. Pink paint came out and mixed with my white paint. I had continual problems with clogging and took the nozzle apart to find old paint and rust built up inside it. I Tried cleaning it out but it kept clogging. After a couple hours of trying to get it to work properly I just decided to return it and get a refund. I had originally rented it for 1 1/2 days but only had it for three hours (of pure headache). When I returned it they accused me of having finished my work and not wanting to pay. 
When the guy at the counter asked his worker in the back if he cleaned it the worker said he had rinsed it out for maybe a minute. The guy told him he had to clean it longer than that. Knowing this the guy still said I would have to pay for 3 hours of usage and had no concern that I would have to buy another 5 gallon bucket of paint. I am extremely disappointed in their customer service and would NOT recommend them anyone. Go to Hardware Hank!

They were professional and organized on the phone and in person. The equipment did not have problems and when it was returned, the checkout process was just the same.

I know the owner. On the whole, my experience with them has been very good. When we rent things, sometimes they don't always work as expected. I had to bring back the jackhammer twice. The bobcat has been fine. With regard to their products, they have their problems but they also are right on top of fixing it. If my rental didn't go well; I don't pay for it, which to me is awesome. They have some room to improve. With regard to price, sometimes the value for what we pay has a little bit of room to improve. They are extremely responsive. On the whole, I find them to be a spectacular company to work with. I will gladly continue to do business with them.

Everything was great. I would rate them an A on everything. I'll be using them again in the Spring.

They were really easy to deal with. They had what we were looking for and at a good price. They gave me all the information I needed about driving the truck, lock me through all the buttons and switches and knobs kinds of stuff.
