They came out, explained their services and pricing. They tackled the wasp/yellowjacket problem and when the first visit did not totally resolve the issue there were two followup visits at no additional cost. They carefully explained what they would do and how the pesticide worked as well as the limitations. I was very satisifed with the work.

We’ve used Rainbow Pest Control once or twice in the past and have liked them a lot. We’ll give them another chance, but this week’s experience was disappointing. After we were swamped with box elder bugs indoors this past winter, we wanted our home’s exterior sprayed this fall to reduce bug entry this coming winter. Rainbow’s phone reps were friendly, but their answers to our questions varied greatly from one rep to another. We weren’t given much advance information about how the treatment works and what to do or not to do, so that when the tech arrived, we had already committed ourselves to doing some work on our windows that could reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. After brief conversation, the tech spent maybe ten minutes spraying (much less than we remembered being told to expect when we made the appointment). Maybe he did do a good job, but the speed of it was kind of disconcerting. Then he presented us with a bill for $247. (Yes, Rainbow has to pay for chemicals, trucks, salaries, and more, but $247 for ten minutes of work? And the $229 they say is their price isn’t the final price—it’s the price before taxes.) The tech did not take any initiative in conversation, such as telling us whether he saw any trouble spots where lots of bugs could enter—we had to ask him everything. The people Rainbow sent when we used them years ago were more interactive and seemed more invested. After this week’s experience we called Rainbow to express our discontent; while again the person who listened was friendly, he didn’t seem terribly interested in why we were unhappy, though he gave us a small Angie’s List discount. When we have our carpet cleaned, we receive an advance email with “Tips to Maximize Your Cleaning Experience,” then a follow-up email asking us to evaluate the service we received. In contrast, for box elder bug control, Rainbow did not provide an email or reminder call with any tips (remember to close your windows before treatment, avoid doing X things that could reduce the treatment’s effectiveness, here are answers to questions you may not have known to ask), and they sent no follow-up evaluation. Overall the experience felt kind of like “Plop, here’s your quick treatment, here’s your big bill, whatever, goodbye.” Again, we’ll try them next time we need services and see whether we have a good experience that time, but I’m hoping that their professionalism, thoroughness, and concern for customers have not decreased since we last used them.

I contracted with them for a year long service. I'd give them an "A" overall. Definitely an "A" on professionalism. I would use them again. I'd recommend them to a friend or neighbor. The quality of work and professionalism stuck out to me. I had an excellent experience. I've stayed with them because of the quality of their work.

TERRIBLE! Very...unusual fellow came, only sprayed outside the house BUT he did tour the house inside by himself before going out. Made the mistake of not accompanying him. After spraying outside he said we didn't need anything inside and handed me a HUGE bill for between $600 and $800 and said we could buy the protection against pretty much all pests--specifically mentioning and focusing on mice. When I said we just wanted the ant problem taken care of before it became a big problem he produced another smaller bill closer to what we expected. The PROBLEM came that night. We just happened to be sitting downstairs for a change to watch TV and while we sat there, out from behind the TV center came a little mouse. We were at first stunned because we have never had any mice in this house but then did what we had learned from my dad in our old house and placed a glass over the fellow, slid a piece of cardboard underneath, flipped the glass over and took the mouse away to a park area and left him. Didn't think much about it after our initial surprise. Then, 2 hours later, ANOTHER little mouse--same size, same type, staggered out from behind the TV center. AGAIN we caught, drove and released him away from the house. The next day it occurred to us that it was a very troubling coincidence that a couple hours after having this guy walk, alone, through our basement and then pushing hard to sell a mouse control issue, the first ever mice appear. 2, same size, no nests. no babies. I grew up in a house with mice. I know the signs (and there would be plenty of them) of a mouse infestation. We have come to believe that he planted them in the basement on his trip. He made a point of telling us how his big bulky jacket and backpack made him look like a GhostBuster and it struck me as a little odd at the time. I shudder to think what would have happened if we hadn't just happened to decide to watch TV in the basement that night. I know that by now, we really WOULD have a mouse infestation. Of course I can't prove an association with the visit so I will not report it to the BBB, but BUYER BEWARE! Just in case.
Response from Rainbow Pest Experts

A quality assurance check has been offered at no cost to you. If you would like to discuss this any further please reach out to us directly."

Dave and co-worker was quick to respond to our problem with massive ants on our back steps. We've been spraying ants and wasps a couple times in other area in our yard and foundation but they would just move somewhere else. When workers were working on our house and going in and out our back door, an ants nest was disrupted and they literally covered our steps with their bodies. Dave found the nest and sprayed along our house foundation and some spots in the lawn. We have not had any problems since.

After they sprayed I didn't see any beetles or box elder bugs. I wanted to make sure they were not living under my siding this winter and I didn't see any this fall after they sprayed. The whole back of my house was full of them. I have never seen it so bad. They actually pooled on my windows this past fall. I also used to see them in the house in past winters and I have not seen any.

Arrived late. Sprayed exterior of home where nests were obvious but did not enter attic as agreed upon when making appointment.(entry through pull down stairs in garage). Also requested estimate on exterior work (checking for entry points) which was never done. Called office and they stated they would check with employee who had serviced our home and find out why he didn't enter attic. Never received call back.

We live out of the country so we've got snakes, elder bugs, wasps and all sorts of stuffs, and it's hard to keep track of these guys. So they come out and at the appropriate time of the year, they will spray for a certain type of insect, or they will treat the house for the snakes that wanna come in the fall to obviously nest. So we figured, rather than call them every time we have an issue, let's do the maintenance.

The initial call in March went well. The technician was knowledgeable. The ants disapppeared from the house. I did need to call and request the outdoor follow-up that used to be automatic but now is on-request.
