Absolutely fantastic. Able to save over 200.00 per month; no PMI anymore and it all went so smoothly! I can't recommend Kim McLean and Nancy Bergdahl (loan processor) enough! Usually mortgages are a real pain, but this all went off without a hitch! Thank you to Kim and Nancy! We even received money back to do some home improvements.

She and her team did a flawless job. I could not be happier. One of the things that differentiated Kim was that she was always on the customer side. Instead of others trying to "match" rates, she would do her best to outdo the competition. It really gave us the peace of mind that she was providing the most competitive product in the market place. I had started the mortgage process with a lender recommended by my realtor. I found Kim on Angie's list and she offered a much better rate and discounts for being an Angie's list member. Kim and her team were proactive, organised, fast, efficient, and friendly. She gave great advice and always delivered on time. Working with Kim and Alerus was the most upfront and easiest part of my entire home purchase process. I just can't say enough good things. Furthermore, I learned Alerus is just a great company on top of doing great work. They make donations to charities when they close on a loan, and support some fantastic organisations. I highly recommend working with Kim and her team for your next mortgage. I just closed today and already called Kim to get started on a home equity loan through Alerus.

A very smooth operation, conducted via phone, post office, and e-mail--didn't need to physically visit the Alerus office.
Paid off the previous mortgage, which had another 26 years to run, with a 15-year mortgage that has a lower interest
rate--enough lower that we will be making about the same monthly payment as before, but accumulating equity much
faster.

They were helping me look at different ways for doing a full refinance or a home equity loan or a home equity line of credit. Helping me understand the difference of all of them and giving me the pros and cons. The cost would be for a house appraisal.

We worked with Kim McLean and Nancy Bergdahl with Alerus Financial. They were responsive, professional and caring. They helped make our home buying experience flow smoothly and effortlessly. It took forever to find the right house, but finding and choosing Alerus was by far the easiest and best decision we could have made. Any questions were quickly answered by both Kim and Nancy and they helped us whenever we were unsure of next steps. Kim explained our mortgage to us very thoroughly when we met with her in person and followed up with emails very quickly and we were able to lock in at a great rate. We did not have the pleasure of meeting Nancy in person but she quickly provided us with information on where our application was in the process and let us know when final approval was complete.
Kim was at final closing with us and answered any final questions that we had regarding our mortgage and payments. I would highly recommend Alerus, Kim and Nancy to anyone looking for a home mortgage. A scary and overwhelming process was made easy and enjoyable with these two great professionals.

The biggest thing for me was that they were always available to answer questions via phone. They had great ratings on Angie's List so that's why we went with them, they also had a referral discount from Angie's List. We are very satisfied!

I had a very good experience with Alerus Mortgage. Kim and Nancy were great to work with throughout the entire process. Getting a loan to purchase can be an overwhelming experience but Kim and Nancy made the entire process very easy and pleasant. They were very professional to work with. They explained everything that was required of me and what I needed to do each step of the way. In turn they also answered any questions or concerns I had. The entire process went very smoothly from start to finish. Their fees for their services were very reasonable. I really could not have had a better experience. I will recommend them to anyone I know who is interested in purchasing a home and I would certainly use their services again myself.

I called Kim at Alerus based on the great reviews here at Angie's List. I was not disappointed. From start to finish Kim was great to work with! Answered all my questions about possibly refinancing and once we decided to proceed she was a rock star! If she wasn't able to answer my calls immediately she called me back very quickly. We had a very poor experience with PNC who had purchased our original mortgage. They used a third party vendor to hire an appraiser (the new process, thanks to the housing bust) who was from another area and was did not come across as very knowledgable. I expressed my concern prior to receiving the appraisal. When we received the appraisal, there were glaring errors but PNC only had the same appraiser review her own work as our "appeal". The appraisal was about $60,000 less than what we anticipated based on our research after we did a complete remodel. I found Alerus on Angie's List and it was sooooo easy to work with them. I explained my current situation and didn't know if a refi would work given our circumstances. Kim did the research on our property and made several inquiries prior to taking our application. We ended up with a a local appraiser who was very knowledgable. We gained $96,000 in property value as a result. We got a great rate via Wells Fargo (Alerus broker's your mortgage and you get lower rates than going to the bank directly). All in all it was the easiest mortgage we have ever obtained.

Amazing! Sunny and her team are impressive. They replied to every email immediately, explained every step of a complicated process clearly, and were quick to problem solve through a number of potential roadblocks. Another loan officer I worked with couldn't seem to get through these roadblocks, and we spent a lot of time going around in circles talking about problems with no solutions. When we turned to Sunny, she said, "we should be able to make this work," and within a day or two I was approved for a loan and we were sorting through details. I would highly recommend Sunny to anyone and would definitely turn to her again in future.

Outstanding level of service. Kim, Sunny, Nancy and team were very responsive with GFE's and quotes leading up to us finding a house. We signed the PA on 9/4 and they were ready to close on 9/30 with several days to spare! Kim even emailed me the week before with the good news that they floated our rate down by 3/8 of a point! Overall, FANTASTIC experience. Only hiccups were caused by our Realtor! ;-)

From our first call to final closing, everyone (Kim, Nancy and Sunny) at Alerus was great to work with! They shopped around to find us the best rate. They worked really hard to get our loan approved by Wells Fargo since they were offering a great rate on Jumbo loans. When things didn't work out with Wells Fargo, Alerus was on top of things right away. They contacted another vendor and were able to get us locked in at the same rate and get our loan closed in a good amount of time, which we were very pleased with! Everyone at Alerus went above and beyond to get our loan closed and we could not be happier with our refinance experience with Alerus. We highly recommend them!

I have done home refinancing before and this was the best experience ever. From the start, they were efficient and on top of what needed to be done. They worked around our work schedules for closing the loan. The closer of the loan was very efficient - was available at the scheduled time and had everything ready to go. We were not expecting this, but about a month later they sent us a binder with copies of all of the paperwork and home valuation with pictures. We had never gotten anything like this from any of the other refinancers. The best part - they were all cheerful and easy to work with!

I used Alerus Mortgage to refinance a 30 year mortgage to a 15 year mortgage. I chose them because of all the excellent Angie's List reviews. I worked with Kim McLean, Brigitte Heimerl and Nancy Bergdahl. All three ladies were very professional and thorough. The whole process couldn't have been any better or easier. They kept me apprised on every aspect of the refinance. All of my questions were answered promptly and thoroughly. Having to re-schedule the closing was no problem. They were even able to lock me in at a lower rate than the original estimate. I am extremely satisfied with the whole refinance from start to finish. I would not hesitate to use them again and I highly recommend them.

Adam at Alerus was fantastic to work with. Buying a home loan can be a long and stressful experience. Through the whole process Adam was there to answer all my questions and provided a superior level of service one should expect from a mortgage lender.
At each step in the process, I was made aware of what was needed. Once I found a home, Adam was very responsive in providing the information needed to place a strong offer. My real estate agent even commented on how nice it was to work with such a competent and responsive loan provider.
Once the offer was accepted, Alerus made sure every document needed was turned in on time to ensure a smooth closing. If you are like me, and you're intimidated by the home buying process, rest assured that with Alerus you will have an advocate there to make sure your home buying experience is smooth and stress free (OK, well at least a lot less stressful).

We were told by others we would have to have a huge reserve in our savings to cover our current house (to be rented out) and the new house mortgage payments. This was in addition to the amount we needed as a down payment. Jan was able to work it out, so a huge reserve was not needed. When we told others what was possible, we were warned by other mortgage brokers the deal was too good to be true and things might fall through at the end. It never happened, everything happened just like Jan promised us. She made it possible for us to buy our new house that we love!!!!
My wife's and my schedules are crazy and it is not unusual for us to not be available during normal work hours. We did just about everything over email. It allowed for us to do our part of the process late at night when we had free time. If we could break away during the day to make a phone call, Jan always seemed to be available or got back to us immediately. We actually never met Jan face to face. That may sound bad, but she made everything work on our schedule through email or over the phone. There was never a hitch or problem.

Very happy with the services provided by Alerus which we used to refinance our vacation property in WI. Kim and staff were very easy to work with, very professional, responsive and their rates were the most competitive that we could find. Together we worked through some frustrations with getting timely service from the appraisal company but we ultimately closed on time and had probably the best mortgage/refi experience we have ever had. We would definitely recommend Alerus for the quality, customer focused service they provide.
