Travel Agencies
THE TRAVEL AGENT DID NOT PROVIDE US WITH INFORMATION ON THE PRICE OF ALTERNATE CONNECTIONS FOR THE OUTBOUND TRAVEL. THE TOTAL COST OF TRAVEL, WHILE IMPORTANT IS NOT THE ONLY FACTOR. THE OUTBOUND FLIGHT INCLUDES A LAYOVER OVER 11 HOURS IN AMSTERDAM. BEFORE FINALIZING THE TICKET PURCHASE, WE EXPRESSED CONCERN AND DISSATISFACTION ABOUT THIS. THE AGENT TOLD US NO BETTER CONNECTION HAD SEATS AVAILABLE. WHEN WE RETURNED HOME, WE PERFORMED AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR THE SAME DEPARTURE DATES AND LEARNED THIS WAS UNTRUE. THIS FLIGHT DOES NOT EVEN APPEAR ON THE NORTHWEST WEB SITE AS A POSSIBLE CONNECTION. THE CONNECTION ON THE WEB SITE IS A TIGHT 50-MINUTE PLANE CHANGE. EARLY MONDAY MAY 16, 2005 WE CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THE TRAVEL AGENT (PENATETE JUNKER) EXPRESSING OUR DISSATISFACTION FOR NOT PROVIDING COMPLETE INFORMATION SO THAT WE COULD MAKE A CHOICE ON PRICE VERSUS CONVENIENCE OF THE CONNECTING FLIGHTS. AS OF 9:30 MAY 17, 2005, SHE HAS NOT RESPONDED OR PROVIDED ANY INFORMATION.

"I gave quotes that conformed to the restrictions of their son's ticket. They balked at the price - which was lower than current published fares. Per their request, I booked and emailed their itineraries. I was verbally reconfirming the itineraries when he noticed the connection time in Amsterdam. (They brought the unread itineraries into office.) He asked for other options. I repeated that it would cost more... He gave me his credit card, I took an imprint, he signed it. Paying for the tickets as booked. The client had full knowledge of their itineraries prior to giving his credit card. Ken, Manager, University Travel."
