Ulmer Construction LLC

We had Ullmer Construction finish our lower level. Pretty much everything was sub contracted out. The subs did good work but we have some issues with the project, Collin does not return calls or messages. Project was completed December 2019, as of today July 29, 2020 still have the issues we had and no calls are returned. Plus some of the sub contractors have not been paid for their services yet, we paid Ullmer Construction for the project in December 2019. Too bad he operates this way, BEWARE

Very poor experience with Ulmer Construction LLC. I will take this as a life lesson regarding General Contractors and what to watch out for. Currently I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel that could have been completed months ago if workers actually showed up and if Colin Ulmer would respond to messages. This project started out fine and had a lot of communication. But currently I am at 6 months for a kitchen remodel when this could have been done in 3 months. I anticipate that I paid them too much for the amount of work done and that was over 50% when it was only at 50% completion. So watch out for the comment that they like to pay their workers upfront and ask for more money that the current project status is at. Second life lesson is to do a lot of research even on recommended people. Unfortunately for me I was in a time sensitive scenario and rushed a little too much to get this project running. In the end it cost me several additional months and I am currently seeing about the financial costs. So if you plan on using Ulmer Construction I would highly recommend looking for someone else. If you are currently using Ulmer Construction then I would recommend only paying them for the amount of work done. Plus verify permits are pulled for your property by going to the city web page (I found two permits were not pulled for my job). You would think the general contractor would be keeping a closer eye on the sub-contractors. Verify that there is a completion date deadline and what penalties there will be.

Colin and his crew turned our dusty, dingy basement into a great play area for our kids. Colin built custom benches/storage, and shelving that exceeded our expectations. He found creative solutions for the space that we hadn't previously thought of. The job took about three weeks from start to finish. Colin and his crew were always on time. I was always updated on the progress of the job. Colin always notified me when he ran into a bump in the road. I was consulted with each decision that needed to be made.

Colin came in and removed all of the old laminate flooring and underlayment in the kitchen and dining room. He cut and laid all new pre-finished hardwood flooring. He had to remove the baseboards to complete the job. All baseboards were re-painted and nailed back into place to give the room a fresh, clean look. The floor looks great! We are very happy with the work. All debris was removed. We didn't even find a stray nail!

The job went very well. Colin was professional and mindful of our budget.
