We are very pleased. The tub looks brand new. We highly recommend this company.

Had an old worn-looking dark brown bathtub in my 1940s home, always hated the color and finally got around to changing it. This company was highly recommended by a plumber I had worked with for years, and I saw their excellent reviews on Angie's List. I spoke with Janet, and at her request sent photos, and she promptly said they could do it. One of the staff came out days later to check out the tub and make an estimate: $525 for one of three basic colors, and $75 more for any of a large number of other possible colors. She spent a good amount of time showing me color samples and helping me decide. The work was scheduled for several weeks later. Noah did the refinishing. He arrived on time, and the job took 4-5 hours as I had been told to expect. He was courteous, and discussed with me any issue that came up. He was concerned that the color I had chosen might not look the best possible, and offered to alter the color by adding a slightly different tint to the mixture to achieve a better match to the other colors in the bathroom. He put samples of the different shades on small areas of the tub, and I could see he was right. I was much appreciative of this. Later, he went to a hardware store to get a different color silicone caulking for the border of the tub where it meets the tile surround, once again to ensure a better match and a more attractive look. The results look great. The company provided a kit with Dawn dishwashing soap and instructions for regular cleaning to preserve the finish. A very positive experience and I highly recommend Surface Specialists.

Great. Tech was professional, on-time, kind, helpful with answering questions and explained everything in the process and future cleaning tips. Service is also guaranteed for 5 years and feel as though this resurfacing will last a very long time. Bath is clean, bright white and 100% fresh now! Looks great.

When they were done Josh had color matched it so well you couldn't even tell where the new insert ended and the old surface began. The surface has a slight texture now making it slip resistant. It also no longer gives under weight and feels very solid. I couldn't be happier with the work that was done. The work was done right before Christmas and they had a couple of sick employees. So they had to reschedule to the day after the original schedule. So the owner, Josh, did the work himself, in the evening! You don't get better service than that! We had family visiting so we were very happy they could get the job done before they arrived! I spoke to three of their people and all of them were very knowledgeable, nice, and a pleasant to work with. I would certainly recommend them (and will).

Fast and well. About 3-1/2 hours total! On time, careful of our floors, good communicators, good process (see below). We judge inexpensive for what was done.
Unfortunately, in this arena, you may not know the result for several years. A recoated tub must be maintained much differently than a porcelain tub - and that's the homeowner's job. However, we are optimistic; this will be our third recoating of this tub, twice with a different vendor and process - and a poor result (after 2+ years. Most service providers do not make available reports from tub owners 5 years after completion of work!
We are more confident of this vendor because:
- A five year warranty is offered. Our previous provider only offered two years.
- I am personally confident of the process I saw used -- which they have not had to alter since mid '80's! I happen to have done a bit of research on industrial prep and painting of difficult services -- aluminum and suchlike -- and the process used on the tub was essentially the same. The critical steps are cleaning (and sometimes several stages of sanding); etching; a compatible priming, and a compatible cover coat (This is basically how you paint an airplane). I have used a similar process, for stuff in the weather, with good result.
- The vendor had their act together with care and cleaning recommendations, which are more demanding than [orcelain, but quite easy to make habit. They provided an appropriate cleaning materials, including Dawn dish soap, a nonabrasive anionic detergent that is easy on the surface, and a surprisingly good degreaser around the house (yes, they DO wash ducks with it after an oil spill!)
Feels like they're good folks. More in 5 years!

Scheduled a prompt visit in order to inspect the tub and provide an estimate, no pressure to commit to service. Very reasonable price, especially compared to replacing the tub. Arrived promptly (to the minute) to begin the work, finished within the estimated timeframe. Provided clear description of the repair process. The finished product looks like it could be original, I'm the only one that would know the difference. So far, very satisfied with the results. The five year warranty (and unofficially perhaps longer) provides peace of mind that the repair will stand the test of time and was worth doing rather than a total replacement. As promised, it was a stinky process (lots of solvent fumes, but there's nothing that can be done about that). You'll definitely want the kids to spend the day elsewhere. Over the course of several days, with outside ventilation, the odor gradually dissipates.

We originally called Surface Specialists in early August to repair blisters in our large spa. Mike was able to schedule an appointment a couple of days later. He arrived on time. He was friendly, polite, and professional. He ground down four blisters and then applied a fill followed by an acrylic coating. The color matched nicely. He also drilled holes in other bubbles so they wouldn't blister.
After waiting a week as instructed, we filled the spa with water and enjoyed it until October. Upon draining the tub in October we noticed that all the acrylic coating had come off. We called Mike, and he came to our home the following day. He applied more coating, stating that the catalyst must have been bad the first time.
We're leaving Minnesota for the winter so will not be filling the tub again until next year. We're assuming the problem is resolved and the coating will not come off again. If this is not the case, will update this review at a later date.

It went great. Mike came out for an initial consultation, but he was concerned about the extent of the cracks in the pool's coping and what our expectations were. After some discussion, we agreed on what he would be able to improve upon. The final bill came in under his estimated costs. Mike is a professional who is honest and does exceptional work. This company is highly recommended,

Arrived promptly, on time, very courteous, explained in detail prior to arrival so that when they came what would take place regarding repairs, etc. Set up phone calls, professional and informative for a home owner.

We called for an estimate, which we received over the phone. For this size project, they typically don't visit to make an estimate, but the service person will confirm that the estimate is in the ballpark. We asked just for a repair - the tub is in a rental unit and we didn't want the $500 refinishing, just a serviceable tub. Once the service person arrived, he noted that the tub is cheaply made and very thin, so they couldn't offer a warranty unless we were to add a layer of fiberglass to the entire basin. We opted for the simple repair. The finished product looks fantastic. The color match is perfect. If you run your fingers over the repairs, you can feel the texture is slightly less smooth, but you have to know where to look.

A chandelier fell and landed h****** our entry tiles, causing many of them to chip. I dreaded the notion of putting in a whole new floor. Mike, from Surface Specialists, examined the damage, said he could fix it, and we set up an appointment. He showed up on time and with all the necessary equipment to find every chip. He was fast and efficient and extremely professional. The floor was like new within two weeks of the accident. I would hire them again in a heartbeat and give them an A+ in every category.

They came out promptly. They were pleasant. They did a fantastic job. Even though they were busy, they made it happen because of our remodeling scheduling. Everybody was really impressed. You can't even see where they repaired it.

There was only one person who came out to do the work. He came in on time and did the job well. The bathtub looks totally new. The whole process took about four hours. It worked out great. He hooked up a ventilation hose so that we wouldn’t get bogged down with the fumes. It smelt for a while and was kind of irritating. It was totally fine after two days, though.

The person who answers the phone was extremely helpful and answered my questions and intuitively addressed my concerns. I was concerned about having my baby home during the process, and to avoid this we needed the work done on a specific date when my baby and I were going to be out of town. I tried to schedule far enough in advance and they worked with me to fit in my schedule. I made sure the tub was nice and clean to aid the process and removed all towels decorations and such from the bathroom just as the papers they sent us described. After the work was done, the faucet and shower head had been covered with rubber gloves and taped on and the faucet had been turned to the side to keep them from dripping. The tub looks wonderful!! So nice, clean and white. The caulking also looks great and was not just around the tub top, but along every edge including down the sides in front, along the floor and also part way up the wall corners. There was a little cleanup, turning the faucet back down was hard to do, and the doorknob and window crank and other things had a grimy feel to them so I wiped them off, and the floor had little bits of what I figure was the old glazing. Also, there were some instructions to follow for using the tub for the next few days. Since I had been out of town I didn't use the tub for a few days and let it cure, and then the first few days home I had to dry it out after I used it. Overall extremely happy with the tub.

Mike sanded and cleaned the bathtub surfaces. He then applied a new white finish. The finish then was allowed to cure. The bathtub looked brand new when he was done. I learned that he has been in this business for many years, and his knowledge is impressive. I had no idea that so many surfaces can be made to look like new or even that different new colors can be applied. He told me that they can do repair and refinish work on countertops, repair shower walls, and lots more; even swimming pools! When the work was done he cleaned up the bathroom completely.

I bought and installed a Kohler whirlpool tub from Home Depot. Upon installation, I discovered that the tub had a broken part. I called Kohler, and they had a service person from Surface Specialists contact me. In order to fit us in their schedule, the service person met me at my house at 6 am. He came out to repair the tub but realized he needed additional parts to complete the repair. He ordered the part and returned a week later to repair the tub. The repair was done well. The tub works great.

Very good. Work performed as promised. Refinisher was timely and did a nice job cleaning everything when done (the process leaves a bad odor for a couple of days). Price was much more reasonable, than replacing the floor and it looks great. Will probably not last for many years, but it buys us time before a major remodel.
