Caleb's tile job looks fantastic. He did exactly what we asked. Caleb was timely and very professional through out the whole transaction. We have already recommended him to acquaintances and will use him again in the future for any tile projects.
Thank you Caleb. We are impressed with the work you have done!
"Hi [removed member name] Hi [removed member name], sorry about the missed grout spot. It sometimes happens when it settles or in a dark area. We would be more than happy to drop down and fill that at any point. Thanks again for the work."
I'm marking an 'A' in the 'Price' category but it seems meaningless to me. How can a price be good or bad if the contractor specifies a price and you accept? If the price is too high, then you shouldn't sign the contract, simple as that. I suppose you could give a bad mark if you accept but later on decide that it was too much but, in that case, the category should really be more like 'Customer Intelligence', and then you grade yourself.
"Hi, We actually discussed the repair area prior to starting and noticed the tile was set on a ridge. We suggested that the tile would need to be removed, however the customer didn't have any more tile, and we even had to install several different types and sizes of tile in the storage area to cover the floor. We did mention that the grout would most likely come out as the tiles weren't set correctly, but homeowner was ok with the quick fix as they mentioned several times they wanted to keep job fast and cheap instead of truly correcting the issue."
Caleb Donaldson, the business owner, did not disappoint. When we contacted him by email, his response was prompt and professional. We provided additional information about the job, and he discussed scheduling, working around our needs. Although he could not do the job right away, that made perfect sense to us--after all, he runs a small business that does specialized work. We agreed that he would do the job on October 28 and 29, and he showed up when expected, and completed the project as promised. He is pleasant, smart, and hard-working. Caleb provided helpful advice regarding how to seal the tile--and how to do so in a price-effective manner. We showed him a small grout problem under the desk in our kitchen, and Caleb took care of that issue, too.
We have asked Caleb to give us a bid for re-tiling our walk-in shower; in other words, we would not hesitate to have Caleb back for any tile job that we might have. He is an excellent contractor--an all-too-rare commodity these days. Our kitchen looks great with the new backsplash, and we could not be happier with his work!
"Hi, we were originally contacted to install approx 80 sq ft of tile. We showed up when scheduled and found out we need to install on a 45, plus 2 closets, plus some doorways. The deal was for 4 hrs to complete approx 40 sq ft of tile. We talked to your husband before the job and gave him an hourly rate if we were to go over the 4 hrs. We ended up setting approx 100 sq ft in 7 hrs. Thats really quick considering the areas to be tiled. Your husband then contacted us to see about hiring us to grout as that wasnt part of the original job. We did respond within 48 hrs to ask for the grout color and asked if a specific date would work. We never heard back so assumed he decided to grout for himself. I think we went beyond what was expected by setting so much in the given time frame and trying to get a hold of your husband to no avail. I think saying we were non-responsive and took too long isnt warranted."
As this is an en suite bathroom, I was concerned that the mess would spill over into our living area. Not the case. They have been very careful to keep the mess to a minimum.
