Scherf Construction

Dave Scherf was the general contractor for an addition and remodel of our home. I found him through word of mouth at our church. He worked extremely well with us and the architect. He was honest, personable, responsive and responsible. He didn't low bid but was honest about what our project would cost. He kept costs down as much as possible, yet was very honest about the need for us to look at critical things that we needed to have done. (We ended up insulating practically hollow walls and capped a well in the basement.) Dave oversaw the complete project from beginning to end. He used subs for most of the work, but would problem shoot and worked on a custom window and custom front door as well as other projects himself. If any of the subs did not do a good job in his estimation, he made them come back and redo it. He went to Duluth to have custom lumber milled, went with me to look at lighting fixtures, appliances and granite counter tops. The project did take longer than he originally estimated and there were two instances where the subs made a mistake that could not later be rectified, but other than that Dave turned around anything that was not to our liking. I can not say enough good things about this man. He does not run a big company, and tends to take one project at a time - so you will be lucky to get him!
