Great., I recommend this company very highly. This project started when we went by their office unannounced to speak with them about our projects. We met with Amy, the owner, and had a good conversation about what we were thinking and what she might recommend. She was very pleasant and we really like her ideas and knowledge. She came by our house the next week to look over the project and take measurements for an estimate. That came about a week later and we started talking with her about scheduling the work. There was a question about the clearance on the dishwasher after the new kitchen floor was installed and she sent one of her people over to take a closer look to make sure what we were doing would work. That was resolved and we were good to go. Once the schedule was set we did what we needed to do to prepare for the work, first on the kitchen. The man who installed the kitchen floor showed up right on time and he and several helpers removed the appliances. He began his work on the floor, He, and all the people who were involved were so professional, They all communicated well and let me know what they were doing and answered all my questions as they came up. Everything went well and Dean, the installer, was there daily until the floor was installed. Once that work was completed Jody showed up the next day to put a finishing coat on the kitchen floor. All this was scheduled through Jan in the office, and she was great as well, communicating clearly with times and dates for people who would be showing up to do their steps. Once the kitchen was done we moved to the sanding project. Again, this was a good experience, with people showing up when scheduled and doing great work, answering any questions, and letting us know what we needed to do. There was some repair work that needed to be do on the hardwood. Amy came by to speak to me about what they recommended while the carpenter was there so everyone was on the same page with the repairs. That work was done and the finishing was done after that. After the floor was coated for the last time the carpenter came by to put in shoe moulding and some other finishing work. They went the extra distance to put shoe moulding throughout our hallway which enters into the living room. This put a nice finishing touch on the entire project, and was much appreciated. There were four craftspeople who ended up working on this project and all of them were great, Very professional, good communicators and pleasant to have working in our home. Again, scheduling was done though Jan in the office and all was clear and straightforward. We have since had questions about care for the floors as well as putting rugs out and these questions have been asked though emails as well as in person and answered very quickly and completely. We really thank all the people involved in our project, Everyone was great to work with. Again, we highly recommend this company. Could not ask for more.

We have a 1925 built house with all hardwood floors. This is the second time we have used Schaefer Hardwood to do refinishing of the floors. Both times they did excellent work- very professional, always cleaned up the work area, and very satisfactory results. And when there was one surface that we weren't happy with, they quickly remedied the situation promptly and cheerfully. I wish more service businesses would do work like them!

It went very well. They worked with me on getting a stain for the new wood to match the old wood. I'm the only one who would know where the seam is. They repaired dings, scratches, knicks and gouges made by other subcontractors. Were able to sand out many of the old stains in the wood. Lovely to work with. Don't remember actual cost because it was rolled into overall remodel price.

Shaefer did a great job on the floor and was responsive to a scheduling change. My one complaint on the previous job was that Shaefer is slow to submit bids and I had to nag them. That said, because they did such a good job, I have contacted them again recently for additional work. First, I did not receive a call back. Then, after a second call, a time was arranged to view the floor. Two weeks have passed and still no bid. My daughter had a similiar experience - it took Shaefer too long to respond. I'd say that professionalism on the flooring end is excellent, but there is a gap somewhere in the bidding end. Perhaps Shaefer should let prospective customers know when they can reasonably expect bids.

The quality of the work was tremendous...the guys and gals stained my new flooring in the kitchen to exactly match the 100 year old floors in the rest of the house. Amazing. And the floors look fantastic.However, their customer service is horrific. A very surly receptionist, three times changing my scheduled work (and, as a result, my hotel reservations and the date my house went up for sale), and high prices made me hesitate to call them a second time.I did try to have them out to estimate the cost of refinishing the floors in my new house. But same surly receptionist told me an estimator would call me. That was five days ago, so I think I'll look elsewhere.I'd highly recommend them if you have a color matching issue like we did. However, keep in mind that the pain of getting the work started might be pretty high.

Job went flawlessly. Schaefer accommodated our schedule changes and contacted me each day about what time the crew would show up the next day. Crew always showed up on time, they finished on schedule, and they did an amazing job. I am especially impressed with the edging work -- not a spec of grime remains and not a single nick on the woodwork. The finish coats look smooth, no brush strokes. I will definitely use Schafer again when the other floors need refinishing.

High rates were the only downside, but very high quality work.

Excellent. Came out and gave a bid, explained finishes and process. The actual person who sanded the floor was extremely experienced and took care and went the extra mile to assure it was done right. Having used another unnamed major floor company in the past, this company was SUPERB. Highly recommend their work!

Estimates were the final price. All work was completed as promised, within the alloted schedule. The installers/refinishers had valid ideas and opinions and knew what they were doing. Their customer service has been great and they have performed excellent work. Originally recommended by a contractor, we have since used no one but Schaefer.

Schaefer repaired and refinished our main level hardwood floor as part of a remediation project caused by water damage. Services included replacing part of the original wood floor, stripping off previous stain and working with us to come up with a new floor color. They provided multiple stain samples on 4' x 4' sample boards made from the same wood our floor was made from, and fine-tuned the samples to narrow down what we liked and disliked about each. Fantastic crews and great customer service. We were never in doubt that the end result would be fantastic, and it was!

Extremely well. Everything was done as discussed and per the written estimate. This is the second time in 30 years that this company has installed and finished flooring for me. I was just as happy this time as I was before. I have willingly and without hesitation recommended them to other friends.

I had a wonderful experience - I relied on Amy a lot and she had great suggestions. She exceeded my expectations with her attention to detail. She was great to work with. All work was done as scheduled and on time. Workers were courteous and cleaned up well. I was always kept informed of when I could walk on the floor again, after finishing each section. I love the final product.

They did a great job and their prices fair.

Working with Schaefer was a pleasure. My floor refinishing project became more involved than any of us anticipated, yet Schafer managed to get the job done prior to my move-in (fortunately, I too was able to push my move back a day so it all worked). Everyone I had interaction with from Shaefer- sales rep, carpenters, sanders, and general helpers- was extremely pleasant and clearly took pride in their work. These folks are 100% professional and I would recommend them to anyone for this type of work.

I WOULD RE-HIRE SCHAEFER TO DO MY FLOOR ANYTIME - THEIR QUALITY IS SECOND TO NONE! THEIR OPPORTUNITIES CENTER AROUND PUNCTUALITY, FOLLOW-UP, LEAVING DOORS OPEN AFTER THEY ARE DONE FOR THE DAY, ETC. THEY SWEAT THE SMALLEST DETAILS WITH THEIR WORK QUALITY AND SWEAT VERY FEW WITH REGARD TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE ASPECT OF THEIR BUSINESS.

EVEN THOUGH I CANT REMEMBER THE APROX COST, IT SEEMED IN BALANCE WITH THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK.

THE COMPANY WAS VERY RESPONSIVE AND ACCOMMODATED OUR CHANGE REQUEST WITH A SMALL TIME EXTENSION.
