I got two quotes by phone about 2 months apart, both for $400.00 The day before the move was to take place, I received a call from Ruth Movers that a mistake had been made by them and the cost went up by $150. Since I did not have time to find another mover, I was able to negotiate the cost down a bit to $501. THIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND i WILL NOT RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES!

Terrible. I told them in advance that the treadmill was not disassembled. They said they would take care of it for me. Instead, when they arrived, they refused to disassemble the treadmill, and left without helping me. I had to hire a different company to move the treadmill. And still, they refused to refund my deposit.

Terrible Experience I paid $210.00 to Ruth Movers to move a murphy bed from an apartment to my home, 20 minutes away. Three men came, tried to move it into the 1st floor bedroom, but couldn't get it to make the corner. I suggested they try it with the bed in a vertical position. Without measuring, they told me it would "DEFINITELY NOT FIT." I didn't question again because they were the professionals, or so I thought. They left the bed in my living room. I then called my neighbor, a cabinet maker, to ask if he might have an idea of how I could dismantle the bed, to make it fit. He looked at it and said it would fit if moved in the vertical position (which I had suggested to Ruth Movers). He took very precise measurements and made a template and it was evident that the bed could be moved in, with room to spare. I immediately called one of the movers, Parker, and asked if they could come back to finish the move. He said he was off duty and I would have to call the office on Monday. I spoke to the owner, Bridget, on Monday and I was told she wasn't going to pay anyone to come back and spend 10 minutes doing the job they were paid to do in the first place. I believe these people call themselves "PROFESSIONALS". There was nothing professional about the movers or the owner. Moving a piece of furniture through a doorway is often like solving a puzzle...obviously, this company isn't up to the challenge. MB St. Paul, MN

Awesome Customer Service and they were able to move around there scheduled to accommodate me. These people are awesome! The staff at Ruth Movers is friendly and knowledgeable from the moment you call to the time that they are setting up your equipment at you home. I must have made a half a dozen change requests and every time they were able to accommodate me. Thank you Ruth Movers!

The bad: They called that they were coming over 3 hours prior to the schedule 3 hour window. Fortunately I was home. You also need to be aware of hidden, or at least not mention, charges, like an additional 9% if you use a credit card. And they asked me to use a credit card. When I questioned the charge, I was told it was 'somewhere' on the invoice, although they didn't include it in the billing until after the job was done. The Good: The moving team was very friendly, very professional, and very accommodating when the move took a turn to the right. They were very willing to help me move items so we could go with a 'plan B'. The office people I dealt with were also very friendly and informative, aside from the hidden credit card charge. I would definitely use them again now that I know about the 9%, unless the B rating would put them off from dealing with me. And I would ask about any other unforeseen charges, if any.

We have moved a number of times, and this was by far the best service we have had. Each and every member of the crew was very professional, courteous and pleasant. From estimate to completed move, the experience was just great. We had some pieces of furniture that were a pretty tight fit in the new house, and the team did not leave a single scuff or scratch anywhere. I was impressed with the care they took and the determination to get our furniture where we wanted it even when it looked like it might not fit. At one point, there were three of them guiding an oversized sofa up the stairs with such precision that I was very impressed. We will definitely use Ruth's Movers for any future moving needs and will recommend them to our friends without reservation. In an industry that doesn't always provide decent service, these guys really put us at ease. Thanks!

My experience with Ruth Movers was a disaster! I would not recommend the services to anyone.
I decided to go with the highest priced option, Ruth Movers, as they had a good sales pitch and promised me that they would do the best job with my move. They told me how they are experts in moving furniture and would be able to complete the job the fastest and without any trouble. It is just my Wife and I, so I didn't expect the move to be too big of a deal, but we decided we wanted to avoid the hassle and leave the moving up to the Pro's at Ruth movers. Picking Ruth turned out to be a big mistake. While setting up the move, the lady on the phone told me it would be 4-6 hours based on the detailed form I filled out for them beforehand. Their per hour price (3 guys and a truck) is higher than many of the other options but I decided to splurge and go for the "best".  What I received was three slow, inexperience movers that took forever to get the job done. One guy told me he just started the week before, the other guy mentioned how his job is to boss around the other guys and didn?t do much work, it was a disaster. The three man crew would only do any moving when they were all together in a group, two guys lift, one watches.  As hours went by with so little to show for it, I decided I had to help out and ended up working my butt off with the crew to get it done. I also had to call in some friends and family to move some stuff in our own cars and trailer, but the crew still 10 hours to finish the job. Between the breaks, doing things like carrying in one pillow at a time, and taking their time on every task, the project took the whole day. I asked the lead on the crew if there was anything unusual about my move that was making it take twice as long as the estimate and the guy said "No, they just always tell people 4-6 hours and it usually takes double".  What a way to do business, get me to hire them by giving me one price, and then charging me an extra $1500!  I was not ready for that extra cost on top of buying a new home but who would be.
After the move, I contacted the company on Monday with my concerns and received a message back that day from Bre. She told me she was sorry about the trouble and that the Owner would review the info and get back to me.  They even told me it was a "High Priority" matter and they would be getting into contact with me soon. I was happy to hear that they were concerned and hoped they would do something to help out with the trouble I experienced. That was June 29th, I wrote again the next week after nobody contacted me and was told that they were talking to the crew about the move and would be contacting me shortly. Then another week went by with no response. I contacted them again on July 13th and no response again. Apparently they don?t care about their customers, it?s all about getting the jobs booked with them. Underquote, over promise, UNDER deliver and never call you back seems to be the way they do business.
Needless to say, I am very disappointed in the service I received from Ruth Movers. To charge me double the quoted price for a horrible, stressful move day with inexperienced / slow movers, and then didn?t even have the curtesy to contact me about the issues as promised. I would not do business with a company like this again. I can't believe they are even on Angie's list if they conduct business this way. Beware of this company and go with one of the many alternatives out there.

Moved 6 times in the past 10 years, each time hiring a different company.  Many of them were complete disasters with multiple items damaged and significant insurance claims following.  The experience with Ruth's movers couldn't be more the opposite.  From our first conversation on the phone until our final item loaded in the house, they made an extremely stressful experience go off without a hitch.  They showed up on time, were flexible in our requests throughout the day.  No item was damaged and everything was placed exactly where we wanted it.  In fact, they moved furniture items up and down the stairs 3 times when they were given misinformation by my wife and I (and they moved it all without any sort of issue!).  While they may not be the cheapest folks around, they were stellar in every sense and head and shoulders above any other company I have ever dealt with.  They went non-stop for 9 hours without taking a break of any sort, making me feel like they cared about the fact that time was money for me.  Use these guys and you will not be disappointed.

We started using Ruth Movers on the recommendation of our church, which has used Ruth Movers to move pianos from one room to another, and moving a large, heavy baptismal font within the church. We first used them to move a piano to our house, which we bought on craigslist. We were so impressed by their professionalism and service that we called them when we wanted to move some heavy furniture around in our house, including moving a refrigerator from our garage to our basement. Again, we were impressed by the quality of the service. More recently, we sold our home in St. Louis Park to move to Plymouth. First, Ruth Movers helped us stage the house by rearranging furniture (moving heavy furniture from one floor to another, moving the refrigerator back out to the garage), and moving a lot of furniture into temporary storage units (SmartBoxes) to make more room for staging the house for sale. The movers were courteous, quick, safe, and careful. Communication with Bridget was amazing - she thought of things that we never would have considered. The movers padded and wrapped the furniture, and were especially careful with our wood floors. Our realtor was present for the staging, and she was really impressed by the care and professionalism of the movers. (For reference, she has been selling real estate in the area for 26 years, and has now begun to recommend Ruth Movers for local moves based on our experience with them.)
Finally, moving day! We asked Ruth Movers to load up our belongings from our old house and unload at our new house. The move was made so much easier by Ruth Movers' careful, thoughtful, and professional service. We had some last-minute stress from the closings, and Ruth Movers were communicative and helpful through the whole process. Again, we were impressed with the care that they took with our belongings, and with the friendliness and supportiveness of their staff. We have a family of four, and we have a lot of heavy furniture and some antiques, so we appreciated the care they took with all of our belongings.
I would highly recommend Ruth Movers to anyone considering a local move - they have branched out from piano moving, and they have proven themselves to be up to the task of larger-scale moves.

Ruth sent two men out to do the work. They arrived a bit early and starting loading everything in. I helped and provided direction where necessary. There were items from the home and the garage, and all of it fit in the truck. Loading the truck took about three hours, give or take. They secured all the furniture in the truck with moving quilts and straps. Two additional men showed up to pitch in near the end of the loading.
I met them at the new house and we unloaded the garage items first. With four working, things began to go a lot faster. They moved to the house and began placing everything where I directed them. We had to remove a railing and a door to get a couple of things up stairs and into the bedroom. They also helped me reassemble a large computer desk and cabinets. The unloading work took about an hour and a half, for a grand total of 4 1/2 hours.
The workers were fast and courteous. It was expensive, but it was worth it to me to have these heavy items all moved at once. It feels good to have gotten all this work done so quickly and painlessly.

Ruth is a family business, so the owners did all the work.  They are very nice men and work very quickly and efficiently.  Three men brought my daughter's furniture and belongings down in Uptown and five men did the unloading on the other end, making the job go very quickly, thereby holding down their hourly cost.
Their office person was also very nice to work with in making the arrangements.  She kept me posted on exactly when they would arrive so we could coordinate with Steeple People, who were picking up some of the furniture after it was brought down the stairs.
They did a really great job at a very reasonable price.

This company has the WORST customer service ever. There was some confusion over payment for my piano move, and I still haven't gotten it resolved and it is nearly 3 months later. I accidentally sent them 2 checks and they cashed both of them! When I called them to see if they could refund one of the checks, they refused to admit that they did so, and they have yet to refund me the $200 they owe me. I call nearly every day and they say they'll get their banker on it, but NEVER do. This is unacceptable (I know I made a mistake, but they should be professional enough to fix it).

Although they did do a great job moving my piano, if you need anything that requires any communication with their staff, don't count on being cared for. They are a terrible business and I am very upset I didn't pay the extra $20 for another more professional moving company. Please don't waste your time with Ruth Piano.

They arrived early, moved quickly, and pointed out a few things that I didn't notice with my piano. The yard was a mess from the previous nights rain and they took every measure to keep everything clean and neat. If  I ever get a opportunity to move out of this house, I will definitely hire the guys again.

Everything went great!  They arrived on time, were brisk and efficient but VERY careful. We had no concern about marring our new floor after we saw them move the first pieces.  They even held the furniture in the air while we put on felt pads to protect the floor.  We would use them again for local moves or another event like this one.  We wish we had Ruth's do the initial move to the garage rather then letting the floor installers do it.
