I am a homeowner who retained REI to secure a tenant. I worked with Layla Shea. Layla was courteous, quick to respond to inquiries and worked tirelessly to get me a tenant. She took my calls and responded to texts and emails on weekends. Very dedicated to securing what I needed. I would not hesitate to recommend Layla and work with REI for any other needs I may have.

Do NOT work with this company, avoid if possible. Very dishonest & unprofessional. They are skeevy and sexist. They lied to my face, over and over again. I tried working things out, but they refused. My property manager actually said, “I’m not here to help you.” The home was very messy when I moved into it, I have photos available. However, when I moved out and left the place so clean, they kept part of my security deposit, even after telling me to my face, I would receive my full security deposit back! AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!

"Please note that this review is from a tenant who is upset that her entire security deposit was not returned. She was charged from her deposit for failing to clean the carpets before moving out, as was required by her lease. After she saw that we withheld cost of carpet cleaning from her deposit she contacted us to dispute this charge. After investigating her claims we concluded that there was no reason to ignore the requirements of the lease she signed, which clearly required her to clean the carpet at move-out. She noted that the property was messy when she moved in – but she agreed shortly after moving in to receive a monetary settlement to account for the condition of the home. We are sorry she is not happy with the conclusion of this situation, but believe it is inappropriate for her to make false claims that she was “lied to my face, over and over again”. We are a professional organization and do not lie. We are extremely careful to follow Minnesota statutes in all regards for the handling of tenant's security deposit funds. We have a very detailed process to document the condition of the home upon move-in and will only withhold funds from a tenant's deposit if they cause damage or fail to clean according to the lease terms they agreed to."

Kari, my REI Account Manager, was very attentive to the needs of my tenants while keeping me in formed and discussing our possible action. I've used REI to manage my rental home for 2 years now. They fill vacancies quickly. My property manager Jeny, brought a handyman in to do work that I had had done several times. When he fixed it it stayed fixed. It is difficult, at times, to get a response after calling. I live out of state, so it's particularly frustrating. That's why I gave them a B.

By far and away the best, and most professional property management firm I have used. Prompt with answers, excellent renter screeners and superb with very difficult renters (we had one that REI inherited). Managed to take care of the situation without getting us into court.

We communicate directly with an agent. She is very responsive, advocates on our behalf and is a great resource when we are unsure of what to do with a specific situation. They are awesome to work with. We have been using their service for just over a year.

I have been using their service for two or three years. Overall, they do a good job. It was easy for them to get a renter and the process went very smoothly. The cost is a bit high and they assign a manager to work with you. They are supposed to do quarterly or frequent inspections and our manager does not seem to do that unless there is a known issue. We prefer renters who are non-smokers which a smoker is who ended up in our unit. It seems at times that we have to micro manage them.
