Moving
Here is additional email correspondence that we had after the move. Please read from the bottom up. Ms. Peterson, Your complaint was received on September 15th. The decision upon your case should be made in 5-7 business days. Have a good day! ODK Team. On Wed, Sep 17, 2008 at 8:10 AM, Diane Peterson wrote: Hi Olga, Just wondering where we are at with this. Please call or email me to let me know. Thanks much! Diane Peterson. Moving Day: Monday, September 8th, 2008. Movers: Demitri and Joe, Issues: We were supposed to get started at 10:30 am. Movers showed up at 11 am. I was told to have $150 in cash to give to the movers before they got started. I gave them the cash, requested a receipt, and Demitri told me that he didn't have one to give me and that he would have Olga email me one. I still have not received any receipt of the money that I paid for the move, nor have I received a copy of the agreement (which I also requested). These are important documents to have when filing an annual tax return for proof of expense. It is a shoddy business practice not to provide one immediately upon receipt of cash and signing of any type of document. Demitri and Joe were nice, personable young men that were careful with my belongings. Unfortunately they are also young and inexperienced. When they were unable to get the couch into the elevator they required advice from the condo association maintenance man on how to get it up the stairs. It took them a very long time to move my belongings, and one couldn't seem to work without the other. I supplied them with a hand cart that I had at the condo as they said they could use the additional equipment. They were supposed to put my bed together but did not. I had to ask them three times if one of them would help me put the mattress on the bed after I put it together. They were so slow that there were several residents at the condo that asked me if I had hired them and if I was paying by the hour. I said yes and I heard the work 'sandbagging' to describe their work on a few occasions. By 2:30 they had to leave because Joe had a class. They only time they moved quickly was the last load because THEY had to get going. They emptied the truck of my remaining belongings and left them on the pavement and grass in front of the building for me to move, by myself, to complete the job. I paid $35 for the truck fee, $20 for a second stop, and $312.50 for labor, for a total of $366.50. I would like half of this amount refunded.
